    I also seem to remember the same thing being said about Calgary having edge over us in the playoffs two years ago and what happened went out in five, but that’s not gonna be talked about at all on this channel unfortunately

    I thought the same thing... why did Edmonton and Vancouver get such an extended break between the first and second round? Doesn't make any sense but then again what does in this league?

    Van has better D and G, and better depth scoring. But Edmonton the way better top line.
    Can Mcdraisytle push Edmonton past the Canucks? I am not so confident those two players can make it happen

      @Seriously_Unserious Před 11 dny +1

      The Canucks have any combination of 7 or 8 D-men that includes Hughes that's more then capable of limiting chances for the Oilers and 3, yes THREE, Goalies capable or rising to the occasion and silencing what chances do get through. They sidelined for now, there's Vezina candidate Thatcher Demko, his backup Casey DeSmith, and our AHL goalie Arturs Silovs who's shown he's capable of filling Demko's big pads.
      EDIT: And Rutherford managed teams have had a history of having rookie goalies come out of nowhere in the playoffs to become big stars and elite goalies in the process of winning a Stanley Cup.

    It seemed like Petterson was getting his groove back in the last couple of games of the Nashville series. He was starting to shoo the puck more, though in game 5 most of his shots were getting blocked by the D, but by game 6, they were getting through and he was getting chances. Saros just stoned the crap out of him, and you can't fault Petterson for getting robbed by a great goalie making great saves. You can fault him if he's not making the plays or is missing the net when he's got his chance, but when he's on target and the goalie just flashes that leather, not much you can do about that as a shooter, except keep taking shots in the hopes one will eventually go in.
    If he can keep that up into the Oilers series, he'll start getting the stats to show for his improved play. Skinner's a good goalie, but he's no Usi Saros. The Oilers have some good defense, but they're no Nashville Predators.
    Where the Oilers can most likely burn the Canucks is luring them into a defensively irresponsible run and gun game where they can turn it into the McDavid and Draisaitl show.

    Cross-check against us

    • @Seriously_Unserious
      @Seriously_Unserious Před 11 dny +1

      Why are you guys assuming the Oilers will beat the Canucks? It's like people still aren't getting the message. This year the Vancouver Canucks are GOOD. The Oilers are also good, but the Canucks actually have a team better built for a playoff run. They've got 3, count 'em THREE NHL calibre goalies that can backstop them to a run. The Oilers have none of that calibre. The Canucks have about 7 or 8 blueliners who can be put together in any combination that includes Hughes and be more then capable of shutting down McDavid, Hyman and Draisaitl and Bouchard. The Canucks have enough elite scoring talent to put pucks in the net and outscore the inevitable goals the Oilers will create even with the Canucks' Elite defense and goaltending. The Canucks are bigger and stronger then most other NHL teams out there, and even the few they're not, they're still big and strong enough to hang with them and let their other skills shine.
