    The Teddy Bryant certainly had that late-night, time-to-unwind-and-get-sexy feel to it. Sort of like a low-energy Prince. I really loved the re-purposing of the old record sleeve on the first record you showed - absolutely fantastic. I hope all is well, Paul!
    Cheers, Tom

      Hey Tom. I like your description of the Teddy Bryant album :) The Jamacian style jackets should have more following. Gives the record immediately a special feel and a personal touch. Hahah, and we both have enough suggestions of sleeves they can use, and throw away the vinyl ;) Have a nice Sunday. Cheers.

    Hello Paul, that Third Eye and Misha sounded really amazing, thanks for sharing. I didnt know Misha although Estonia is neighbour to Finland. Ps. I finally found my first Greg Foat album at local shop, the Honey Bear. Cheers.

      Hej Petri. That Third Eye is special. It gets a lot of positive feedback. Because of my vinyl cleaner Degritter and Misha I'm also discovering Estonia for the first time. Misha is really on a roll, he is releasing one great record after the another. Maybe fun to know, Greg is right now in Finland recording a new album with Eero! All the best. Cheers. /Paul

    I am really digging the Third Eye album Paul. First off. Great to see you again. That Indie Soul comp Swave Villi Us also sounds promising. Have you listened to the whole thing yet? I noticed that it was sold out on Bandcamp. All of the selections were new to me. Reminds me of years ago in the VC when so many of us were turning each other onto new artists/albums. You never disappoint Paul. Thank you for another fresh jazzy sounds~

      Hey Birthday boy! Congratulations! Did you get yourself some nice gifts ;) Played the Soul compilation quite a few times. For me all selections on the compilations are also new, but have a great vibe and could have been all hits. I hope more people discover the Third Eye record. It's special and really good. Have a great day! Cheers. /Paul

      @@XjunkieNL Thank you for the birthday wishes Paul. It please me immensely that you remembered. Yes tomorrow I turn 62. Ouch! >< It is also John Bonzo Bonham's 42nd year since his passing. That was my twentieth birthday. I was celebrating only 27 more days to see Led Zeppelin for the fourth time. I had tickets to see them at the Philadelphia Spectrum on Oct 22nd, 1980. I was also going to see them in Buffalo on Nov 1st and again at the Philly Spectrum on Nov 4th. But sadly it wasn't meant to be. If I hadn't seen them three times in 1977 I would have missed out of seeing them completely. Enjoy the rest of the weekend Paul. Thanks again~

    The Jamaicans were ahead of their time, recycling album sleeves 😂I got a bit of a progressive vibe from the Third Eye needle drop along with the fusion, so the date of 1973 makes sense for that to be an influence. Teddy Bryant really has that 80's r&b sound down! Amazing they can recreate that so accurately, if you didn't know better you might think it was from 1984 or something. Think you've mentioned that Swave Villi Us compilation before, that looks very intriguing as well. All the samples sound good actually, great crop of new releases!

    • @XjunkieNL
      @XjunkieNL  Před rokem

      Hi Doug. Always nice to see you stopping by. Jamaicans were way ahead of their time :) The early seventies are a special time in music. So much was going on. Hahah, I agree, the teddy Bryant album could have been a reissue of an undiscovered eighties album. Although it seems also undiscovered in 2022. All the best. Cheers. /Paul

    third eye is really on the psychedelic side... truly 1970s.
    teddy bryant is something i'd probably play in a triphop x downbeat x freestyle x nujazz context in a nice loungy cocktail bar when one is dj'ing for a vibe and not for a dancefloor.

    • @XjunkieNL
      @XjunkieNL  Před rokem +1

      Hey! Early seventies was a special time in music. Some amazing blend of styles and genres. It seems everything was possible, with the help of some funny stuff :) Do you still often DJ at cocktail bars? Overhere it seems to disappear a bit. All the best. Cheers. /Paul

      @bazedjunkiii_tv Před rokem +1

      @@XjunkieNL nah, especially as things are picking up pace again it's more about club and microclub venues for me these days. but i've done the bar x cocktail bar thing in the past as well and there were aspects of it that i really enjoyed as well. i'd still be up for doing that like once a month or so on a wednesday or thursday night maybe.

    • @XjunkieNL
      @XjunkieNL  Před rokem +1

      Sounds as a plan ;) Especially if you have the freedom to spin what you want. Have a kind of fix public that comes in. I can image a gig like that could be a lot of fun. /Paul

      @bazedjunkiii_tv Před rokem +1

      @@XjunkieNL also gave me the opportunity do venture off into territories of downbeat x triphop, reggae x dub, soul and a little it of jazz and occasional afrobeat as well which usually aren't styles to play out on a proper dancefloor these days.
