Becareful if using that kind of rubber roller. It's kind of sticky rubber compound which may be similar to the cleaning gel for needle, and they are sticky. It was demonstrated that at some point they do more harm instead to help. Brushes are more safe to use and they do not harm! 👍

Very cool! It looks like you used nearly a whole can of spray for a single hype sticker. That could probably get expensive. Not to sound stupid, but could I just put the shrink in the freezer and peel it off? How about using a hair dryer to warm it up and loosen the adhesive?

I don't believe that the ultrasonics will break the bond between the hydrogen and oxygen of the water molecule as shown in this video. These covalent bonds are strong bonds and ultrasonic frequencies will not break them. The surfactants can, however, break the hydrogen bonds between the water molecules. The demo showing that the hydrogen molecule separating from the H2O is inaccurate to my understanding.

Also... ultrasonic's do clean spectacularly, but also unevenly. They will leave a mottled surface visible under light, as the transducers do tend to localize the intensity of the clean, which will vary over the entire record surfaces, leaving a visible unevenness to the clean surfaces.... all is audibly clean, but visibly, some areas are cleaner than others

I was thinking couldn’t you wear nitrile gloves to handle the record to get a better grip.

Just stumbled across this video. I've been improving my Crosley. Before anyone comments, they don't chew records! I have a Philips hifi with the SAME BSR turntable mechanism and tonearm/cartridge and I still own the vinyl and it's not chewed despite being played for 40 yrs! The bit that chews your record is the cheapo needle that is often shipped with the unit - I've replaced that with proper diamond one, upgraded the ceramic cartridge, added counterweight, upgraded speakers, added high impedence pre-amp for the ceramic cartridge (omitted from most cheap turntables which makes them sound flat), new main amp etc. Anyway, my Crosley sounds good for a portable record player but I would like to try a magnetic cartridge on it to see if I can get it even better. Obviously the pre-amp will need swapping with a pre-amp suitable for the MM cartridge. Just waiting on the bits to arrive before I try and retrofit an audiotechnica magnetic cartridge to it. Wish I had a 3D printer ;) You could sell those brackets on ebay - would make a fortune ;)

Great video! Never thought about it in that way about the worn needle. And what about worn eliptical or fineline needles? They would damage the vinyl I guess. Or elliptical or fine line needles which are worn unsymmetrical.

Do you have any views / thoughts on ultrasonically cleaning records regarding the following; 1) Location of the Transducers i.e. bottom mounting Transducers (like the typical commercial ultrasonic cleaning baths for normally cleaning jewelry, metal objects etc. suspended in a hanging basket that are also being used for cleaning records with a record spinner) or side mounting Transducers (like the Degritter Huminguru & KLaudio LP200T dedicated ultrasonic record cleaning machines) ? 2) The ultrasonic frequency used (ranging from 40kHz up to over 200+ kHz) for record cleaning ? 3) The actual power of the ultrasonics cleaning the record (with the volume of water inside the Ultrasonic Cleaning Machine playing an important part i.e. typical commercial ultrasonic cleaning baths having a large volume of water in comparison to the Degritter, Huminguru and KLaudio LP200T dedicated URCMs which have relatively small volumes of water for the actual cleaning of the record (i.e. not the volume of the water tank that feed these URCMs)) ? Reason I ask these important questions above, is I am considering going down the Ultrasonic Cleaning route for my records even though I currently thoroughly clean my records (and have been the last 10+ years) with my trusty original Keith Monks Classic Vacuum Record Cleaning Machine (which the BBC Archive Dept used to have and use) where I give my records a full pre-wash & main wash regime with the recommended Keith Monks Discovery Cleaning Fluid and the latest technology Keith Monks record cleaning brushes and then a final rinse on the Keith Monks RCM with pure distilled water vacuuming the fluid off between each of these cleaning (pre-wash, main wash & rinse) stages. And yet even after this thorough cleaning regime of my records on my Keith Monks RCM, I can still hear clicks and pops on a lot of my records (I am a critical listener i.e. I listen to most of my records on my TOTL Headphone System - a Hifiman EF1000 Amp with Hifiman Susvara Headphones linked to my CH Precision P1 & X1 Phono Stage linked to my Kuzma XL DC Turntable with Kuzma 4Point 11" Tonearm & MSL Eminent Ex cartridge) even new records that have never been played before. Therefore to remove these clicks and pops wondering and hoping that ultrasonic cleaning will remove them. Your thoughts on the above would be greatly appreciated.

How do we know the weight loss observed in the study was due to loss of Noryl material and not loss of dirt and debris? I would expect a clean record to weigh slightly less than a dirty one.

So many incredible rarities! Even with all the wear and tear they are fantastic, it's a wonder some of them have survived at all. I always thought juju music was pronounced like joojoo but perhaps it is yooyoo...that's the trouble when you never hear anybody say these names out loud...ha I was going to say Fela has so many records because they are only two songs each, sounds like this album he was trying for just one! Other test show that 40kHz ultrasonic cleaner do damage to record after 3-4 cleaning 6 min each. 120+kHz not. So if you wash once or maybe two times you should be ok.
