Cool tale. A major reminder that this is a group game, no one person's will is sacrosanct. Even the DM has to adjust, often.
Yup! Even when it screws everything up royally 😂
Great DM story! Remind me of one my own ‘’blew up my game.’’
I was DMing for a bunch of DMs that need a break it was a campaign in 2E, the game was going well 6 months into it. The party was escorting a caravan of weapons for the king guards but was ambush in the street by night whit an elaborate trap, Alain (the best DM in the East side of Canada, RIP man) was playing a Druid and he transform into a cat follow the bandits taking the cases of weapons to their own wagons and slip in one no NPC saw him.
He was going to see the secret hideout of the main secret villain; the party would have been able to go there and kill all and take back the loot and identify the secret villain and blew up my game!
So, I take Alain in a corner explain to him the situation and he just laughs and with satisfaction of having the possibility to blew up my game say to me ‘’ok I will attack the bandits) and he save my game, thanks Alain, you will always live in our minds….
That's awesome man. Thanks for commenting!
This is awesome. It may have blown up your game but it created a great experience and memory. And that's what it's all about.
I totally agree man. :))
Haha 😂 Brilliant! Look forward to hear more about your heartbreaker🤘

Duane’s response:
I have three comments:
1. Ajax’s existence as a PC was based on a poor decision by Ajax the NPC. (and a good roll by me so don’t say I can’t roll for shit!) He left his post and took off to find glory and that, to me, painted him as not very wise. So, when stats were rolled I purposely kept WIS a bit lower and tried to behave and react with that in mind. Fast forward to the incident in question and his actions during the dream sequence were in keeping with that idea that dude isn’t exactly Plato…. Not a deep thinker.
2. Regarding the insinuation that I, as a player, did something dumb. Fuck all that. LOL Nobody ever talks about the time their character “almost” did something. I knew damn good and well the whole thing was some sort of setup but where’s the fun in avoiding it?
3. You’re welcome. If it weren’t for me you’d still be talking about your new rule set 5 years from now. 😊 If you ever publish, I should get a full page “thank you” section for spurring you into action. LOL
Haha. I’ll have an artist draw a picture of Ajax talking to the king in yellow
@@Joethelawyer no, no, no..... I mean a picture of ME. Full page portrait. Maybe a shot of me cussing at you about a ruling. I'm sure that will happen plenty of times between now and when you have to submit files to a printer. LOL
@wilas101 I wouldn’t want to scare away the purchasers.
@@Joethelawyer well that's kinda mean
Lmao! Way to go, Duane! 😂
He’s a bastard! A bastard I tell ya! Making me do all that work…. 😂
Wayne helped you get off your ass and write!
He did. The bastard
