@@ify105 Usually music in structured in roughly even lengths. For example 4 bars + 4 bars + 4 bars +4 bars. The sneaky bar is about playing with peoples expectations. So you can have the chorus drop 1 bar late, for example. Disclosure does this a lot.

Regarding sidechain just send your kick signal to the input of any other signal (input on compressor) like the bass/synth. Pull down the theshold till you see some gain reduction, then dial in attack/release till it pumps in a way that sounds good

He did something extra complicated due to UAD not syncing. Just try a using a very short kick sample with the same pattern as your kick.
