Fsg's model is not about quality but about value. The cheaper the better for them. That's why they hire Arne Slot on their terms.

Exactly..Amorim did have his vision set on the liverpool project and had maybe some demands on how he would like this project to come into gear but according to Edwards they needed a yes man and it's where Slot comes in as a "head coach" and not as a manager.
Honestly don't think Amorim didn't joined Liverpool because he wanted to much money or because he plays with 3 defenders style.He likes to have a project,choose the players he wants and basically the team is mostly managed by him.I don't know Liverpool football structure but not sure if they would let the coach take most of the lead and squad decisions.Sad he didnt joined Liverpool because I think it would be amazing for all sides(if everything gone well of course).

@@davidjackman0987 that is very true. However, the Liverpool sporting director spent quite some time with Leverkusen in November, December and January in the area, supposedly scouting their players and speaking to the club directly.
However, with Edwards, this may well have been a smoke screen.

Ruben Amorim acts much more as a manager in Sporting than just a coach. Most planning and decisions for the team apparently include Ruben Amorim. Before that, Sporting was a bit disorganized. If a couch is just a couch, the club cannot demand the same kind of results because the decisions of the club has a lot to do with the performance of the team.
We have done what we have systematically done. Cheapest 😢option and that will do.

You’re so right about Amorim and costs but I think it applies to Xabi and others who were on the wanted list Dunc. Then we scraped the barrel and found the Cheapest possible. So everything’s rosy now with Edwards & FSG. This is what you call the FSG SPIN to make everything sound good…
That is absolute tat. If that actually came from Liverpool, they are just trying to save face with all the Liverpool fans & for them to back slot. Lots of fans had more trust in Amorim now that alonso backed out.

Was never keen on Alonso or amorim.
We don't suit a 3 at the back with squad we have. They're both young and inexperienced. I always wonder how managers do when things go against their team. And we haven't seen that with Alonso because he's won every game. And that's impressive . But that's not always going to happen. Take nothing away from Alonso but his side spent 81 million euros this season. To Arne slots 35 million.
Arne slot is older by a few years so has more experience. Has a really impressive record of building teams and challenging on a limited budget. Improves players. He's won cup finals and won titles.
I think Arne is just a better fit. If it's not broke don't break it.

Good Afternoon Dunk ; Jamie Carragher has been rather quiet on the managerial appointment at Liverpool don't you think ? Which is not like him at all unless I just haven't seen any of his tweets, podcasts or videos. I must say this post by Melissa Reddy is unusual as she's usually quite up to date and correct when it comes to news about Liverpool ,totally agree with everything you've said 100% my friend.

I think it goes back to the old debate of is the manager a manager or a coach... because the manager was always appointed and made the signings for his squad. Now it's all americanised from a football/strategy and business/ moneyball pov. I don't like it. LFC is now at the end of an era under JK. If Bringing in a better manager/coach means a new philosophy then so be it. I'm happy with that. It's evolution. But I understand why Slot is a safer bet. Let's face it, there's no Zidanes etc saying they want the job and the other best managers are taken.
Ever since she wrote that filthy article about Klopp and his coaching staff more than a year back and then Klopp called it out she's had little to no insight on what goes on at LFC and not been back at the LFC pressers. Suddenly with Edwards and his cronies coming back she's got her aggravating voice back regarding LFC. Its already going back to how it was when Rodgers was in charge - same BS journos being the exclusive mouthpieces for FSG PR.

The difference in Alonso and Amorim is one is flexible and adaptable and plays to his squad's strengths while the other is rigid with his 3 at the back system.If you look at his time with Sociedad B and at Madrid's youth team,Alonso used different formations to what he is currently using at Leverkusen meaning he would have adapted to the squad's strengths at LFC while Amorim has used the 3 at the back system everywhere he's been.

Perhaps after Xabi, Amorim and Slot might perform equally well in their model. The formation might give Slot an edge over Amorim. I thought what she said could make sense.
I would imagine that all the candidates the club were/are looking at got scored on the attributes the club think are important. i.e fit with current squad, playing style, player development, experience, working within a budget, cost to recruit, cost of wages, personality etc. then you take the total score and see who comes out on top. Once Amorim made the cost to get him too high he may well have lost out due to not having the best fit with the squad and playing style but lets face it this info release is a PR exercise from the club

It makes more sense to adopt a new playing formation and then spread that throughout the squad and academy. Unless we're going down the route of saying that professional football players aren't capable of adapting 😂 100% it was about money somewhere down the line, it always will be with FSG !

Spot on dunk. Amorim was clearly very highly regarded and at the end of the day demanded too much money. If we are led to believe money was never the issue then why were we told how much he was asking for to begin with. It's crazy to think formation was the issue, CZcams was filled with so called tacticians telling us exactly what he had been doing at Sporting and what that meant for Liverpool going forward, so it makes no sense Liverpool wouldn't have known this from the start.

This is why I can’t get excited about Slot because in my eyes he has been appointed as manager down to financial reasons. Alonso and Amorim would have needed far more resources to build there ideal squad. It’s frustrating even hearing this like why short list him in the first place if your want them to change to suit the club you identified them not the other way round.
When i heard they wanted Slotte as a head coach and not a manager it made sense why xabi and amorin turned the club down. They want a yes man (another rodgers) and not a manager. If thats true, dark dark times ahead.
To be fair it’s been the FSG way the whole time. Klopp covered for them managing to get a tune out of our squad with a miserly budget compared to his competitors.
Surely Liverpool need a manager who is going to get us the best chance of success. And that success will bring in more money into the club. Not getting into the champions leagues in the future can cost us more. DKB

Mel Reddy, like Ornstien and Jocye, Gorst all push a narrative that comes from Edwards. Amorin would not take LFC job, he is not a coach, he is a manager and decides who he buys player wise. LFC squad can play 3 at the back, they have as well.
LFC have got a yes man and a coach Slot who will be controlled, and these reporters spin a story. People close to Alonso said he was not interested when he found Edwards was walking back through the door.
I think it's down to fsg being cheap and don't want to spend big money on players. The 3 at the back is bullshit 💯
The way we play now is different to how Klopp started off. We still want to press but Trent never came inside (ohhh matron) he used to bomb on and Hendo or Milly filled in for him. That's just one example, absolute BS as you say Dunk. Shows how our style has changed and when trent plays as an extra midfielder we have 3 at the back anyway. As Jessie J said all about the price tag 💰

I believe amorim did not get the job because he and his agent priced themselves out of the job because they tried to be clever by talking to west ham in which he was never interested in the job because he's apologised to the sporting fans over this and it was an attempt to force the clubs hand in which they said bollocks we want someone who wants to come to the club and not try and hold the club to ransom
football changes every few years, look at Jose Mourinho, if we changed one we can simply change them all, but does that mean staff in reserves and so on need to be changed, I don't think it matters, I think it was all down to the contract, he wanted more money and more control, that's not FSG's way

Honestly I like Melissa. She is like most journos and is full of..... but in terms of retrospective reporting she makes some good points (even if by accident tbf). She comes across as a typical reporter in terms of getting to know people for info. But my biggest issue with her is the obvious things she says. Like this thing about Amorim. She is almost right but only because she was making a wrong point and not articulating it very well. She has either analysed the situation (and jumped to a conclusion) or was told something to say as an extra excuse for not pursuing him. People like her, Ben and even Pearce, are just fluff. They print things about a club we love and have access to some of the crumbs form the real journos. I wouldnt be relying on any of them for real breaking stories or real insight these days (of course that could change).

if a manager was any good he builds a system around a sqwad of players. Klopp started with 4-2-3-1 becuase that's what best suited the sqwad he made signings and changed things into a 4-3-3. For me its a bit of a silly throw out there excuse that they didn't want a manager that played a different formation its ludircous to think that. Let's face it money talks and £40m a year for a manager who's yet to prove himself in the Liverpool job smacks a bit of outragous I am no FSG fan but you can't blame them for gauking at the numbers. I think the agent wanted to use liverpool for a payday and let's face it you want high wages at the start of being Liverpool's manager what does it guarantee? A higher compensation package if you get the boot. If you back yourself you arrive and prove you're worth a wage rise its how they pay people at the club start low (relative to some high end clubs) and get rewarded for performance

Such bollocks from Melissa imo. Amorim plays very similar to Klopp, but with a different formation. They think we’re thick. Formation isn’t style of play. They’re just saving face.
If anything, Slot plays a more different type of football to Klopp than Amorim, just a similar formation. We’d have to sign the same amount for slot than we would’ve had to for Amorim, a lb, dm, cb, and a forward/winger will be needed for both managers.
Imo, it’s because Amorim wasn’t willing to work under the new structure where Edward’s and co have all the say and power.
