  • As a young man, Ian's desire to have control started with his teammates on the baseball field. He found out the hard way when drugs took over his decision making: his problem was within. Striking out with his own life was enough for him to find sobriety.

    Jail is without a doubt the hardest place to stay sober in. One wants to escape every living moment of it and drugs provide that much needed escape.

    Stories like these are both inspirational and yet can be a cautionary tale. At times addiction grips you so strong that it almost turns into instinct no matter what it is. It can be a phase but it can last a long time that it becomes a habit. To those who overcame it congrats. The best solution for me is do not try it ever.

      True addiction is not a phase. It is rewiring of the brain that never goes away. You either are in recovery or an active addict.

    I like the people who demonstrate that it is possible to stay sober in jail. Some have been sober in jail for many years.

  • @allansmasterspowerlifting.390

    I was basically a relapse king until January 11, 2015 when I finally got sober for good. When I’ got locked up for 10 months on January 11, 2015 I decided I was done with alcohol and drugs. While incarcerated I kept to myself and basically just thought about recovery. Read as many books as I could about recovery. I alsoGot my body back into shape. I basically use this time in jail as a launching board to start my life again. It’s been Almost 4 1/2 years since I was released. I’ve been going to regular AA meetings ever since and Changed everything in my life. Life is pretty good today. I can’t wait to be able to go to meetings again.

    I'm on my 5th day clean.....I'm been slave to heroine for 2 yrs ... I'm 26 now .... I'll thanks to this lockdown because of which I'm being sober... I tried many times to be sober but this withdrawl never let me...I'll always loose to my withdrawal. But because of this lockdown due to covid 19 no one is finding heroine in state...so I'm bound to be sober ... already pass the fucking 1st-2nd day of worst withdrawl...I think this time I'll make it...

  • @nickkoryukin4949
    @nickkoryukin4949 Před 4 lety +8

    17 was my year of the most drug usage. I tried weed and got high for my first time and found it fun so I did it again and again then I tried taking a break for a month but I have no will power so that didn't happen and eventually my brother started telling on me and my friends started telling my brother. With alcohol I loved getting drunk, I was doing it by myself even. I shoplifted liquor and wine multiple times and was drinking. My dad found out about me stealing and drinking and was often having a talk with me. I eventually laid off the alcohol when I was 18 and now-a-days whenever I see alcohol I don't get very tempted to wanna drink it. But, I still have a problem with weed, not as bad as when I was 17 but I'm still smoking every week or almost every week. There were really only two times where I went sober for over 3 weeks, the rest of the time it was only a few days to 2 weeks

    • @boidinktwistie4389
      @boidinktwistie4389 Před 4 lety +3

      if you're just smoking weed during the week, I wouldn't say that's out of control by any means. unless of course you're in a position where it's absolutely controlling your life, i wouldn't assume you're in a bad spot. keep your chin up!

      You obviously have no idea what it is to struggle with inner demons. You don't choose to be addicted to drugs. You try to self medicate with something that makes you able to function everyday and feel better then you fall into a dark pit known as addiction. We do it to ourselves, true, but does that mean we don't deserve help? Does that make us bad characters?
