“We spoke out against racism, hunger, gangs, crimes, and turf wars, as we embraced all people with hope and the spirit of brotherhood. It’s just as apropos today.” - WAR
WAR, the original street band, was founded by veteran record producer Jerry Goldstein and rock legend Eric Burdon in 1969. Together with the original band members Lonnie Jordan, Howard Scott, Lee Oskar, B.B. Dickerson, Harold Brown, the late Thomas “Papa Dee” Allen, and Charles Miller, they blended many musical styles and influences. The musical laboratory that is WAR yielded 17 gold, platinum and multi-platinum awards, including the triple platinum ‘The World Is A Ghetto’ and double platinum ‘Why Can’t We Be Friends?’ and ‘Greatest Hits’, and hit songs "Why Can't We Be Friends?", "Low Rider", "Spill the Wine", and "The Cisco Kid".
WAR began playing live shows to sold-out audiences in the 1970s and continues their commitment to being road WARriors, touring over 150 dates a year to this day. - Hudba

Omg, they still sound so great, I loved them in the 60’s-70’s & I love them today. Where has the time gone…too fast, I’m 74 & I lived in the best era for music. We drank cheap Boones Farm Strawberry Wine! 🍷🍾🍷wore Bell Bottom Pants, colorful tops & our shoes had 2” souls. “ WAR “ was soooo good, still is!👍👏👏👏👏 ♥️🥰

Age 73. Don't forget Marijuana, 55 Chevy. I had my bell bottoms too, wine pouch we wore around the waste, It wasn't shootings. We settled beefs with fists mostly and were Kool the next week. There is plenty of love in the air and good music. HS class of 1969.
One of the best bands of All Times!
Never in my 62 years have I seen & heard such an amazing harp artist! This band has been on my favorite list for decades ❤❤❤
This is very good however, The original harpist who originally recorded these timeless classics is still alive and well; His name is "Lee Oskar!"...Look him up...
He's not Lee Oskar but he's good
I've been listening to War since 71 or 72, I'm 64 and I've enjoyed 2 concerts.One time I drove from Woonsocket RI to Philly where I'm from in 4 hrs.It's a 6 hr.drive.1989

WAR is one of the greatest bands ever! There are a lot of great bands that are overlooked.
I remember listening to WAR when i was a teenager..they always had dat special sound and musical arrangements.
They are still doing it ..timeless music.
Absolutely True. Fire 🌟🌟🌟🌟
Still sounds better than most music now.
No, Danny. They still sound better than ALL music now.
There's no backing track or lip syncing with these guys! Tremendous musicianship Dynamics and sound
BIG FACTS👊🏾
There is no music now it's 99% crap!!
I truly appreciate the quality of these critically acclaimed musicians, but I really miss Lee Oskar and Papa Dee Allen alongside Bernie Bickerstaff on bass. I was 15 when All Day Music came out, and I've loved these guy's ever since.
Love your music. I am 68 years old and still listen to you every week. Thanks for the ride.
As a 70s kid, my brothers and I were blessed that my parents introduced us to War...Still Jamming War to this day! Blessings to you all..
OMG beautiful. Just memorizing. Felt like old times. I needed that! Thank you Always..........

Loved their music in the 70"s and still do. Brings back so many memories!
To say they were underrated is understated. They had their own sound.
Such overused expression but you are dead right with that comment. They deserved more respect playing a very original sound for sure.
HAD ? They are still touring ..

When I became familiar with their music, their first thing I noticed was their perfect blending of various styles, specially those Latin sound mixed with soul . I have to say I became a fan about 25 years ago.

I grew up and played with them and they still are relevant! The 70’s were an awesome time for real music!

One of the Great groups of the 70s.
I'm from the Bay and we had T.O.P., a great rival band of War, who I believe were all from SoCal...but you know, that harmonica and sax combo was untouchable. A combo that was unthought of in the 60/70's. I yield to this band as one of the top 5 Cali bands of all time.
Talk about going back in time, they were the first concert I ever attended, in 1976 it was WAR, Tower of Power and Redbone at the famous PIT basketball arena in Albuquerque NM, that was the best time for me 15 years old, I got high as fuck before lighting my own spliff, those were the best times and at 59, I'm still blazing and rocking to these bands!!!,thanks for the memories !!!
Love it
ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITE BANDS!!!! Still sounding AMAZINGLY AWESOME TO THESE 58 YEAR OLD EARS OF MINE!! I wish I could go back just one more time to my childhood when this beautiful sound was all around the airwaves Oh Well I still have my memories🥰🥰🥰😊😘
Their music makes summer time even better
War' kills it !!!! I graduated 1969.. Those were the days!!
No doubt Sheila Sams ! I know the feeling. Great time.

Tears I'm my eyes....The 70s came and went,the 80s was awesome. The 90s ? Whatever...2021 and I'm a first time Grandpa. So,I miss my childhood,and the 80s as a teen. Now as an adult,the times have changed,but I ain't so sure about the better.
Wow War! I remember back in the 70's with Lonnie, Lee Oskar, Papa, and rest of original members...freaking awesome! Didn't know they had split. Still nothing but AWESOME!!!
One of the few bands that sound exactly the same Live as they did on their albums, and without an orchestra behind them.
Legendary! WAR and the OHIO PLAYERS,..two bands that were underrated...and underpaid. RAW TALENT at its finest!
True 👌🏿
Too all you young want a be bands this is what true talent is about no autotune no filters straight up talent
true that!
You hit that baby right on the nail head brother.....THIS was when music was music....compared to all the scumbag crap out there today.
not long enough.
You're dismissing creativity. Don't be so narrow-minded. Nobody likes that.
Exactly, that mess called music today is really a stretch!
You can hear cohesiveness in War, beautiful pieces. Real music, real musicians! Thank you Lord.
WAR is like FINE WINE,. Put them in this Ghetto and they make smooth cool 😎 notes with Mr. Ghetto. Black folks have always made music at all times . Especially when times were extremely HARD. The BEST comes out of us. Black is Beautiful!.
Legendary music. This brings back so many good memories. Times were different, and we witnessed the greatest music era ever.

Amen all the glory to our Lord. Thank you for my freedom !Glad you made back !🙏
Thank you for your service brother.
Amen Brother, I'm 60 and a Disabled Vet myself now but I remember the draft and how you all came back not even praised for your battle for this country. The honorable soldier returning with PTSD, Agent Orange, and Drug Abuse. It wasn't even considered an epidemic, no after 1980 President Reagan even stop most Mental Health Institions from helping. Instead they used the Penal Systems. This Music basically help and spoke for the unfortunate even within the Ghettos of this World. With that said, I appreciate and enjoyed the Music with all my Universal Soul.
Amen! Sad times. Thank you for your service.
This is one of their greatest hits I-use to at
dance all night to this tune still love ❤️ it the drums the harmonica these guys were real musicians 😂😊😅
3:27 Sax circular breathing technique! Fantastic! What a PRO band. Great show. Thank U!
I commend you on either being a musician or a student of music. To know and understand circular breathing means you understand the skill level of the Sax player. Extraordinary musician and musicianship!!!!
Love this band. There music is so powerful that the whole world needs to listen. I don't go a day without listening to this live recording or at least one of their songs.

Well, well, well, what an absolute joy and pleasure this session is! I'm stunned and awe struck. I grew up listening to these men, in the 60's, 70's, 80's and so on. One word: "Awesome"
Greatest band still after all these years growing up listening and loving them ❤
Lonnie Jordan; there’ll never be another artist like you. Thank you for the wonderful music. So many beautiful memories growing up. God bless you and the band.
Howard Scott got another War band doing concerts.
Wish Lonnie would reunite with the original band members, that would rock. They sound a lot like the original band but a lot of imposters. I listen to Low Rider band when I want to listen to WAR.
Ditto! I’m 70 years old and What great music and memories !

The Sunset was shining trough the grove when they sang "All Day Music" and a few other of their hit jams.
The band is incredibly dynamic and Eric is on a whole other level.
Thank you War for the musi, spirt and memroies of not only that day , but part off the soundtrack of my life i heard growing up throughout the 70's & 80's 🙏🏾
This might be a good band but definitely not War
The Lowrider Band is the real War.
Lonnie Jordan is the only one that went with the manager when he was able to take the name from the band

I've been a fan since the 1970's. I've seen them in person, the original members many times, I've seen the recent version of War at the Pomona Fair, and I've seen the Low Rider Band at the Hollywood Racetrack in Inglewood before it was torn down. Great music.
For 58 plus minutes I thought I was actually at the concert😎 This brings back so many good memories to so many people -- seasoned and young alike. Standing 🤗vations!
What a treat! I have always loved W.A R. Since the 70's. I wish I had seen them live!!
I have seen them at Nassau coliseum 1973. Wow
One of my favorite bands. !! Slippin into darkness as im writing this they are playing it.! Wow!!
Now, that was real music! This took me way back! Awesome performance!
Omg this is fantastic after all the awesome years beautiful blessed showmanship beautiful 🥰
I am thankful that at least one of the originals are still with them at this point in time. I love these guys I was blessed enough to see the originals right down the street from my house at Bush Stadium. How great they were and for the artists that have kept the tradition and heart of WAR original member included . My father died in 1970;and my mother suffered from Alzheimer’s disease since I was 9 . These fantastic guys were my therapy as I sat in my four cornered room. I love and commend War. They got me through some terrible times. Thank our creator for them. I will always love them because WAR struck the right cord with me. Oh yes I am very musically inclined ……. I have been playing the piano since I was 2 or so I’ve been told, congas; violin etc … so they just really kept me sane and living through those MOST TRAGIC DAYS. I love you guys I owe you my life literally 💝💖♾ Did I mention that I was 15. Thank you WAR I am indented to you all for you ALWAYS become I was REALLY at the end of my rope until you guys.🥰💝❤️🩹❣️
Wow! This SOUND. Songs about the the times then and still relevant today. Written with thought and only extremely talented musicians can replicate.
This the music that inspired me to play bass guitar which I still play today. Great sound!
i grew up listening to them.....
WAR, who can say more?! One of the funkiest, jazziest if a word, and grooviest bands in Music, period. I have their greatest hits CD, still moves me like a teenager in the 1970's at 65.
Great Music. I listened to W.A.R. In the 70’s and I absolutely loved them and still do. Very Nice Concert!!
My dude, Lonnie Jordan.... Lead vocals & keyboards.
The original band was the best.....
But times change....
Sadly.... After all, WAR has been around for 50 years....
Some of the original members are deceased.
But this was a great show.
Howard Scott has another War band doing concerts.
The World is a ghetto
That part
Bad ass song
The real HEFE
@NATHAN ROGERS he and Harold Brown, Smokey Grenwall, and for a while BB Dickerson. as the "Original Low Riders". This is one guy that the label bought off to tour. Sometimes they have done shows with no original members. Moral of this story... Always read and understand what you sign. Or else a record company will own your genius and your name.
