“We spoke out against racism, hunger, gangs, crimes, and turf wars, as we embraced all people with hope and the spirit of brotherhood. It’s just as apropos today.” - WAR
WAR, the original street band, was founded by veteran record producer Jerry Goldstein and rock legend Eric Burdon in 1969. Together with the original band members Lonnie Jordan, Howard Scott, Lee Oskar, B.B. Dickerson, Harold Brown, the late Thomas “Papa Dee” Allen, and Charles Miller, they blended many musical styles and influences. The musical laboratory that is WAR yielded 17 gold, platinum and multi-platinum awards, including the triple platinum ‘The World Is A Ghetto’ and double platinum ‘Why Can’t We Be Friends?’ and ‘Greatest Hits’, and hit songs "Why Can't We Be Friends?", "Low Rider", "Spill the Wine", and "The Cisco Kid".
WAR began playing live shows to sold-out audiences in the 1970s and continues their commitment to being road WARriors, touring over 150 dates a year to this day.

I am thankful that at least one of the originals are still with them at this point in time. I love these guys I was blessed enough to see the originals right down the street from my house at Bush Stadium. How great they were and for the artists that have kept the tradition and heart of WAR original member included . My father died in 1970;and my mother suffered from Alzheimer’s disease since I was 9 . These fantastic guys were my therapy as I sat in my four cornered room. I love and commend War. They got me through some terrible times. Thank our creator for them. I will always love them because WAR struck the right cord with me. Oh yes I am very musically inclined ……. I have been playing the piano since I was 2 or so I’ve been told, congas; violin etc … so they just really kept me sane and living through those MOST TRAGIC DAYS. I love you guys I owe you my life literally 💝💖♾ Did I mention that I was 15. Thank you WAR I am indented to you all for you ALWAYS become I was REALLY at the end of my rope until you guys.🥰💝❤️‍🩹❣️
