You know what makes him probably the greatest ever It's his big expressive eyes that's a gift he was born with. His rare big eyes made him special
Yes! That's so true, all of his greatest performances and characters have an extensive range of big expressions to minimal expressions. And I think those vague movements and expressions really just deepen the naturality of his acting. We all naturally make small, vague movements and expressions that can really send big messages or express deep emotions, and Al Pacino captures that in his acting which makes his characters seem so real and natural!
I will cry when he's gone. Great actor with so many great character portrayals

My favorite actor of all time. There are so many I respect and love watching but Nobody captivated me like he did. He also had the best run of any actor ever in the 70s
Not only is he a great actor and person but he was also so incredibly handsome in his prime! That little clip at the end of his character Bobby really shows ya! He was also most good looking as Michael Corleone. With those big dark eyes and long eyelashes, his rugged yet delicate facial structure, and that fine, dark hair... Blessed with Sicilian blood!
I don’t think there is a character that Al hasn’t played, his spectrum is enormous and I think all roles look at how Al has played them before moving forward with their own take
And, he shows his amazing versatility in "Hunters" as an aging Holocaust survivor. Too bad that the screenplay jumps the shark in Ep. 10. But, Pacino is captivating throughout . Simply compare his recent portrayals of Jimmy Hoffa and Meyer Offerman to demonstrate his range.

The greatest actor of all time ,he has got so much range and layers in his acting that is unmatchable ,he knows many things about acting which can not be taught .
A generation of actors that we will never see likes of again. Pacino, De Niro, Hackman, Hoffman, Nicholson, Duvall... they don't make them like this anymore.
You forgot Daniel Day Lewis, Kavin Spacey, Russell Crowe, Danzel Washington... They are modern greats.....

@Nic Rock Adam Driver almost belongs in the 70s with his unconventional looks and naturalism. Most actors nowadays do not get me excited about performances and the future of film but he certainly does.

It really comes down to his portrayal of the duality of man. He exhibited the theme of the godfather. A multi dimensional person. Capable of being visceral and cerebral and knowing what to be when.
I think most versatile actor ever there been. He can perform any roles, he just fits into that role like a glove! He at romance, gangster, explosive cop, or villain... He's so cool in every roles he's performed... Thank you Mr Pacino for all your wonderful characters ❤

I love Al Pacino!
I like this video because it runs a very interesting theme; though I think some movies are missing, like Scarecrow from 1973 that could have gone really well into the "Vulnerable Kid" stage. Now, Carlito's Way (1993) in line with the Irishman (2019) as "Getting Old" stage? Dunno man, seems like quite a leapt and films like Danny Collins and Manglehorn are missing as they are excellent portraits of men who, although from very different backgrounds, have regrets thatsomehow try to atone and get by.

Al Pacino has to be one of the best actors I’ve seen. He’s got such an incredible range from Micheal Corleone, Tony Montana, Jimmy Hoffa, heck, he was probably the only bearable part about Jack And Jill.

What a brilliant video, really showcases the greatness of the actor and the man that Al Pacino is.
Al Pacino is the man nothing more.At least he knows when to take a break unlike De Niro who plays every damn thing he sees.
Bombastic and overacting is a gross misrepresentation of his work in the 90’s.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way. There were also small performances that he balanced out the big ones with, even small scenes in the big performances. But it seems like people only want to remember the loud moments, even with all the awards he was winning for his HBO films prior to The Irishman. Even in the first two Godfathers, he had a few of those mid sentence outbursts that are always parodied. He does what the script asks him to do, just like any other actor would.

Finally i find another lucid person you are totally right!! his work on 90's suffers for an unjust gross misrepresentation.
For example in "Heat" he had just two or three scenes, that can be called "bombastic or overrating" and the people seems to say that his entire performance was in this way when clearly wasn't, the scenes like "coz she had an great ass!!!" is an scene that his character needs to deliver an funny commentary and moment. Is an unfair and an insult to reduce Al Pacino "Vincent Hanna" performance to the level of "overacting" when in reality everyone that had be seen the full movie "Heat" knows that he spends 99,9 percent of the movie playing an serious, calm & cold "character" and with perfection!!, his character Vincent Hanna in "Heat", is an man who is so dedicated to his job as cop that he personal life begins to be severely affected to an point of no return.
And "Donnie Brasco" & "The Insider" he gives strong characters with immense vulnerability another two masterpieces performances like. His performance as the gangster "Carlito Brigante" in "Carlito's Way" also is an character who is in a constant fighting to do the right thing to live with his lover in peace, and also is an Brilliant performance, like some friend also said above even in the first two "Godfathers" he had bombastic moments and also in "Serpico" & "Dog Day Afternoon".
The people and fans need to stop saying this non-sense about Al Pacino career in 90's, and also saying that he begins to overacting since "Scarface".
We all know that both Francis Ford Copolla first two "Godfathers" and Sidney Lumet "Serpico" & "Dog Day Afternoon" Pacino's classic & golden age was released in the new Hollywood movement, an classic & landmark period of cinema history, and by the 80's or even late 70's this period already over.

So basically his movies and characters throughout his career kind of aged alongside him... makes sense! That's quite amazing, to go from a man like Michael Corleone, to Tony Montana, to Carlito, to the Devil, all the way to Jimmy Hoffa. They sort of represent Al Pacino and his stages and moods of life

Most would probably argue that Pacino in the seventies was true, vintage Pacino, with The Godfather movies and Dog Day Afternoon being the touchstones of his career. Interesting parallel: Pacino's and Nicholson's careers both went in a broader, over-the-top direction in the 80s, Nicholson with The Shining, Pacino with Scarface.

Tony Montana is one of the most liked characters to men. Where do you get he's unlikable? Men respect his ambition, his drive, his guts, his loyalty. The only thing men dont like is his craziness at the end when he turns against his friend. Tony got the money, power and the woman he wanted. Men respect the way he got what he wanted and died like a man. And its not bravado -- its real testosterone -- this is a man other men follow. But respect your original idea to analyse 'the two sides' as you put it. in actual fact, if Pacino could only represent two sides he wouldn't be the actor he is.
