The ND Filters are now corrected to factor in aperture and sensor size etc so that all the cameras can shoot at the same settings and have roughly the same exposure.
That's a blessing over the std Mavic 3 which requires the split ND Filters that Freewell put out.
And I'm sure Freewell will jump in with either Split ND Filters or better yet balanced filters. Not perfect and doesn't overcome color profile differences, but helpful. Also probably expensive. But this is where we are, and I'm thrilled at the progress.

I'm just a father of two with a Mini 3 pro that I've had for about 3 months. I thought that would be enough for my Amateur needs.... Now I find myself sifting through all these good CZcams videos pineing for a Mavic 3 😂

+900grams is a dealbreaker for me. I need a Mavic that can fly in category A1. I am, however, confident that DJI will continue to work on this pro model, and eventually will be able to produce one sub 900g. And who knows, by that time have have made the three cameras more compatible as well.
There will always be a new and better drown. At the end of the day, it is my skills as a drone pilot, my knowledge of filming and my editing skills that makes the real differens. And I have A LOT to learn. No drone can help me with that😉

Hmm , how important is it for a drone to have a sub 900g ?
@@jackertapermaterIn most European countries (EU or EFTA) we share the same drone legislation, and according to these rules drones above 900 grams have more limitations when flying in populated areas than those below.
So the easy answer would be, that if you like to fly legal in populated areas it is important, if not, it doesn’t matter and above 900 g is just fine😊

great review guys. just wondering, if you use spot light in any of the lenses does the new speed control settings still work? ie if you set your cine mode to a max 1m/s does that disengage when spotlight is used as it did when first introduced last year?

Hi love your videos, from the time of colour grading glen coe and introducing parallax, vertigo shots. Could you comment on flight handling esp with the bulkier camera head. How is it in strong t wind and sport mode? Even the normal m3 head tends to jerk or drop. Also, wonder if theyve improved tripod and spotlight mode since they going all out with the zooms now.

As always great review Stewart, I plan on getting a Mavic 3 round about June and I think it will definitely be the pro, but as you pointed a pity that I have to have a controller with it.
Hopefully that will change soon.
By then they may make a standalone package available. Also be aware if flying in the EU/UK its over 900 grams so apparently that forces those there to have another certification to fly closer than 150 meters to people and structures. Ive heard many that its a deal breaker for them.
@@MysticalDragon73 Maybe. They promised an RC Pro Fly More for the original (non-Cine model) and never did. I have an RC Pro (RM510) and an RC (RM330) and a half dozen RC-N1s. They will not be making a Fly More with no controller.
@@BlairAir actually ive seen fly more kits for some models with no controller. They were stand alone fly more packages. Heres hoping they make them for the people with controllers already.
@stewart When talking about the mavic 3 classic with its single camera, which would you recommend, d-log or d-log M? Will the higher ISO of d-log produce more noise than the lower ISO on d-log m?

I've been using Davinci Resolve for many years and can't see the point of jumping to an NLE that supports Pro Res. That said, I'd like to know the real life workflow benefits of working Pro Res vs. H.265, and whether the Cine version is truly worth the bump in cost.

Sure thing. You can change the Cine mode parameters to slow things down to 1m/s if I'm not mistaken.
Always worth waiting for the review from S&A. However, this is beyond my needs and current capabilities - maybe the clue is in the "Pro" tag. I'll stick with my current DJI Mini 3 and enjoy future firmware upgrades until they make a new and improved one (that is worth the change-over). Thankypu both.

I believe DJI says the tele has 7x OPTICAL zoom. Or is it digital zoom? I would like to see a review on this as to how good is the zoom. ...As for color grading; don't make me work more. I prefer to have the camera do the work. I will use the metering on my DSLR's despite the manual mode snobs.
I've seen the same issue in your video as in another video from Iceland. The brown color (dark colors) results in some sort of smudging effect. Out of focus or something. I wouldn't expect that at this price point.

Mine has just arrived your video and many others twisted my arm LOL. But hey it is exciting having the new tech isn’t it. I’ve gone for the package with the RC controller and it does all I need is a hobbyist. The one thing I can’t find anywhere, including Amazon is a decent quality hard case that has a cut out that fits the new Mavic three pro with its protective cover on. Stewart I topic that never seems to be covered in You Tube videos and tutorials is going in depth on setting focus on the drones. Could you do tutorial on getting the best focus on the Mavic 3 Pro or any of the Mavic 3 series. It would be highly appreciated buddy
Thanks for the comment. It's a good point. Just in case it doesn't come up soon, what I do is use the auto focus to set focus then switch it to manual focus to eliminate the risk of the focus hunting mid-shot. It's mainly an issue with the longer focal lengths though - not had much of an issue on the wide angle lenses.
Yeah Stewart. Love your vids which is why I'm asking you a question about my Mavic Air Your the guy who would know the answer. So I was flying normal and then all of a sudden the drone just stopped responding to the controller and just died and crashed all batteries good in both controller and drone. Got any ideas why just all of a sudden stopped and crashed? Thanks in advance.
Very strange. The only thing I can think of is it was freezing cold and you just rocketed the drone in the air causing a voltage drop (but it doesn't sound like that was the case). Alternatively, the battery wasn't seated correctly so there was a connection issue? I've never had something as severe as this happen to myself.

Ive been using POI & Spotlight on the current Mavic 3 (added with v01.00.0900 Firmware) it works... most of the time, and slick when it does. DJI says "supports static subject" for the Mavic 3. You were moving. Hoping the 3.4 aperture on the 7x is a noticeable improvement.
Stuart- you got though the whole video without uttering the word "Zoom" - at least not out of context of its digital nature. You should host seminars "how to stop saying ZOOM when you discuss TELEPHOTO LENSES.

There is a big gap in CZcams vids that we need someone to cover: tracking/following function for action cams. It seems like you can do this with cell phones, but not action cams. For instance, you cannot use the Insta360 Flow with an Insta360 One RS! Argh!!! The best thing I have found is the Obsbot Me. Please make a video for us!!!

I'd say so. Not essential but a nice upgrade for sure. The 40mm HQ FOV on the M2P is good but the 70mm is a much more powerful look if you have a use for it. The M2P is still an epic drone though.

Thank you for this objective review. Seems like the Mavic 3 (not the Classic) is really missing from the conversation here as to whether or not it's worth the upgrade since it already has 2 of the 3 cameras on it. For me it's not worth it for the 70mm personally, it looks like a great camera but at a fixed aperture at that price point it's hard to justify.
Is it same Mavic 3 normal color profile vs Mavic 3 PRO Normal (HNCS) Color profile? DJI says only Pro version has HNCS (Hasselbland Natural Color Solution)

What is your advice about controls? Standart or Pro? My worst conсern is about range and stability of connection.
If you have the budget then the Pro. But it is bigger and heavier which may or may not matter to you.

After all described till 06:30 this drone doesn't really sound as Pro to me and 400 ISO minimum ?!? Basicaly they are forsing me to get the Pro combo for the filters or wait Freewell... duhh. I just won Freewell filters for the Classic model but might be sticking to Air2s. The 70mm will wait for better execution, unfortunately. The best reviews as always are from you!

So the Mini 4 Pro is out and I'm wondering, is the Air 3 worth it? I'd love a video from you to answer that question. In particular, there are some people on Facebook that seem to feel like the 70mm lens is the second coming of Jesus. I'd love to hear your explanation of why this might, or might not be. (My rather simplistic view is that you have a flying camera, a flying camera that can go 50mph, you can just fly the camera closer if you need to get a closer shot. Yes, a telephoto might give you some more blur on a rotating video shot, but is that really worth the difference in price, and regulations, between the Mini 4 Pro and the Air 3, given that the main sensors are identical?)
Can we just get an Air 2s Pro in jet black with side sensors, then I'd be happy

Need it, worth the money....? I've ordered it....
I will stick with my Air 2S because 1 camera is really enough for my needs (and I can't afford a new drone). I just wish that DJI would stop neglecting the Air 2S. I feel that a firmware update is long overdue, to include all the latest features and nice to haves that were introduced on the Mini 3 and Mavic 3 drones. Then the Air 2S will be a beast again.
I just got an update for my Air 2S. The only thing I really long for is a variable aperture. There really is a difference in sharpness in wide panoramic views at say f8 vs. f2.8.
@Clickumentary agreed. Once you have it, everything that doesn't feels limited. I first had it w/Evo 2 Pro, then Mavic 3 -on the 4/3rds Hasselblad anyway. At least the Pro made efforts to balance the 3 cameras, the difference on the Mavic 3 is jarring to put it mildly. Definitely getting the 3 shooter!

How is no one talking about how terribly the 3 series handles compared to the Mavic 2 Pro? What an incredible handicap the implementation of coordinated turns is to the manueverability of the 3 series. How is this not something that can be toggled on and off?
Super annoying you can’t just buy the drone. I already have rc pro and don’t want another one.
My nano+ literally stopped, flew straight up, refused my commands, and then crash landed in a lake. I think it’s time for an upgrade.
I almost got tagged with..."I Gotta Have IT-itis" until I found out that only one camera shoots stills with a 20MB file... the other two shoot a 12MB file. Not interested. I know the look isn't the same but I can get a 12MB file from the 20MB with no worries. It's called a digital crop. I shoot mainly stills but as for video, this drone is pretty dope.

I'm going to wait a few months for the Mavic 3 Classic full frame sensor edition.
Nice overview, but for us Mavic3 owners, this is a negligible update, and not worth the upgrade when you consider that you can do everything this drone does with the Mavic3, have an extra 3 minutes of flight time, and the difference in zoom quality is barely noticeable, especially when you can now do magic with AI software like Topaz Labs…
There is definitely a difference between 3x optical and 3x digital zoom. Digitally zooming in will not give you the same effect as the 3x camera will.
@@darriusholt of course there’s a difference, but the real question here is: it’s it worth the upgrade? And for some ppl it may be. But if you already have a Mavic3 then this upgrade is negligible

@@10fantic If that's true then around 88% of the 500+ people that voted on Air Photography's poll, "Are you interested in the Mavic 3 Pro" must be, myself included. Most people decided to stick with the 3, or opted for the M3 Classic, or Mini 3 pro. Besides, if it was so much better, why would they discontinue the Mavic 3?
Yea, m3 owner here too. would accept the upgrade if the cost is right, but it isn't. Not saying we're not salivating to get it. Would be interested to know how the bulky camera head copes in strong wind or in sport mode...

The 3 Standard is selling well on the used market since DJI pulled it from the store. So I will recoup 70+ percent of what I paid AND with the new Fly More, it has a bag I'll actually USE. I don't need a backpack to put my JACKET in. I don't even wear a jacket! (Sorry mom)

Nope; this is another complete fail and missed oppertunity from DJI. I would have preferred to see a single M4/3 camera sensor with a true optical zoom lens instead of DJI going down the endless smartphone rabbit hole with multiple camera of different sizes and qualities. The variable aperture optical zoom option on a large sensor would have provided consistent results and D-Log across the entire focal range ensuring a much more polished user experience.
I’ve read a theory that an optical zoom using a 4/3” sensor would cause balancing issues when zooming so that’s why DJI isn’t designing that and might never.
Dji will literally lose me as a customer if they don’t offer the standalone options.It’s insane to force customers to buy what they don’t need.
I can't see this being worth almost $5k in any configuration. But I'm all about it with Prores 10 bit internal recording in the $2k price range. But looking at what this thing can do makes me wonder what they'll bring to market next. And at what price!? Cheers 🍻
NO NO NO NO NO... DJI. What is this nonsense. 3 different sensors. Only 1 is 10 Bit colour. Other two sensors arent matched to the 1 inch sensor. What we wanted was a zoom on a 1inch sensor so we could have 10 bit throughout the zoom range. This doesnt cut it at all. I wont be buying this. Please give people what they wanted 1 sensor with zoom lens.
I'm somewhat disappointed with the Mavic 3 Pro.
The Air 2S has currently a really great package with its small size and 1" sensor for an almost cheap price.
To me, compared to that, the Mavic 3 has two selling points: The big sensor and dynamic aperture.
Adding additional lenses with smaller sensors and fixed aperture feels like a downgrade. If you want to make quick adjustments while in the air, you have to play around with ISO or Shutterspeed.
While filming, shutterspeed is somewhat a no-go, which leaves ISO as the only dynamic option. But higher ISO settings on those smaller sensor sizes...I don't know.
So, all of this kinda feels like a compromise You gain something, but lose something else.
The aim should have been, to eliminate such compromises.
One single (not three) lens, with the 4/3 sensor, dynamic aperture and an actual zoom lens, like the Mavic 2 zoom had, would have been perfect.
I don't quite get, why that's impossible...?
Size and weight don't seem to be that much of an issue.
Anyway, perhaps the Mavic 4 will deliver one day...
