- Welcome to Tenerife! On this walking tour, we are visiting the most beautiful village in Tenerife, hidden in the mountains - Masca.
Originally this small village was a Guanche settlement, but it became a Spanish territory in 1496 after the Spaniards conquered it. The total number of people living here is 90-ish inhabitants. Lying at an altitude of 650 m in the Macizo de Teno mountains, Masca offers some unique and amazing views.
It is without a doubt one of the most beautiful places on the island and it is a must-see if you plan on traveling to Tenerife.

@@4kcitytours went last year and found that no video or photos can really show how stunning scenery is. Going next week as well

Thank you so much for the amazing video. We are visiting the area in two weeks and unfortunately, we will not be there over the weekend so we won't able to book the gorge trail (the steep one to the beach). I wanted to ask, is it possible to enjoy this scenery from the village itself? Do we need a permit for that? Thank you again!
Glad it was helpful! I don't think you need to book anything. (not sure, I might be wrong). But if you are a skilled hiker, you can go on that route by yourself (with friends). You can't really get lost, it's an island, after all . But you can visit the village whenever you want, you don't need any permit. And you can enjoy the view as much as possible.

I have a slight walking problem and cannot go steep trails for a long time. Would you say that it is mostly steep or just "smaller" parts of it, please?

My pleasure Elmar. Thank you too for your comment. The village can definitely be visited even if you have problems walking steep hills. Yes, there is that very steep staircase, but there is an alternative route, which is not demanding at all. You'll see it in the video. I go down on the stairs, but I come back up on that alternative trail. It isn't steep, and you can rest for a few minutes, and then keep walking.
I say it is very doable, and I definitely recommend you to go and visit it. Don't let a slight walking problem keep you from seeing this awesome place.

Do I understand it right that this is also the starting point to larger and more demanding excursions further down?
That's right. From there, there are trails going all the way down to the ocean. That's the one I know about. I am sure there are others.

Hola! Me alegro que te gusta el video. Ha grabado en marzo, y en ese dia, habia 20 grados. Pero, estaba nublado, y por eso. Pero, usualmente hace un poco mas frio que mas bajo, en la playa, porque esta la montana.
