For sale in our Chicago showroom is this stunning 1981 Pontiac Firebird Formula. Fitted between the fenders of this metallic two-tone beauty is the original 265 cubic inch V8 bolted to a 3-speed automatic TH-350 transmission. Layered with a fresh coat of metallic blue and silver paint, this Poncho is gorgeous to look at and breathtaking in the sunlight. Having gone through a restoration over the last 3 years, everything on the body of this car has either been replaced or refreshed. The interior was replaced with the correct seats and materials based off the build sheet, which is available.
Turn the key and the 265 cubes thump through the downspout quad-tip exhaust bringing a soft rumble to your ears. The redone interior is correct to the build sheet, as are the gold snowflake alloy wheels, even the decals. The original T-top bag is still in the trunk, ready to swallow the glass tops on the sunny days. Options include: Air-Conditioning, AM/FM Radio, Spare Tire, T-tops, Cruise Control, Power Brakes, Power Steering, Power Locks, Power Windows, Seat Belts, Cloth Interior, Alloy Wheels, and Radial Tires with Raised White Letters. I had “almost” that same car my sr year high school, 83-84 school year. Mine was solid blue with none of the silver highlights, but same dark metallic blue with camel/chocolate interior. I painted the forward intake shelves a matte black and got the “ Ram Air” decals from a 69 Goat and put them on the outside, forward, on the scoops…add Shadow Louvers and a Pioneer SuperTuner, Tri Speakers and a Rockford Fosgate amp….there she was. Sammy Hagar’s “Standing Hampton” was always in the cassette deck. I loved that car dearly and to this day remains my favorite car I’ve owned, even with a C5 and C6 Corvette in my past. There’s just something about that generation of Firebirds that gets into your soul. You really had to have one to understand. I’d love to have one now in my older years as a weekend fun car.

@@tomcherry7029 its a 265 pontiac V8 there is almost no videos on cars with this motor i guess everyone ripped them out, not sure if they built many of them at all

@@cloaked2562the 301 and 265 shared the same short deck block Siamese intake runners and other design features. It only came with a 2bbl carb and was rated at 120 hp not much more than the 3.8 / 231 Buick V6 that was also available. Not really a performance engine.

@@tomcherry7029 yeah it was an economy v8 i find info on it hard to come by online theres almost no point to this engine really I'm surprised they sold any id rather just have the no fun 301 or 305 chev if i was buying one new back then

@cloaked2562 the 301 was meant to be in the 3rd gen F-body which was 500 lbs lighter. A super charger in place of the turbo would of been a better way to go. No lag.
