      Those are well known facts, Marilyn was used sexually by producers and important men in Hollywood...that phrase she said about "sucking c---s" was said in front of journalists...she was abused all her life, from infancy in the orphan institutes were she grew up...having deep psichiatric illness put in her in a state of mind were she wasn't able to defend herself...it is all documented

She seemed to have the confidence of it when she was on camera but in private I think she was so abused and run by men it broke her down. I think she gave men and some woman a little control and before she realized it or could stop it they had all the control and her escape was the drugs they shoved at her.......... I believe Marilyn was a pure and gentle soul with a softness lovlier than a playful kitten. Her sensuality was fueled not by vulgarity or blatant rawness, it was subtle and forcefully gentle, irresistible to ignore because it was infused with all her need for acceptance. A futile attempt to ward off abandonment. See the delight in her every expression? It was the consummate reflection of the joy she yearned from humankind, not just from the male species who had mainly exploited her, and ultimately detracted her true essence and what she was really about.

      Maybe now but definitely not then. Women had no rights. If a woman called ‘rape’ she was blamed. A huge amount of rapes went unreported. It was terrible right up until the late 80’s, even early 90’s, which is not that long ago.
      I personally know three women who have been violently raped...one fellow went to jail but the other two were never reported because the women were scared of the repercussions.
      Yes, some women take advantage of the system (and they should be shunned) but that doesn’t mean each and every report shouldn’t be treated seriously.
      Rape is an act of violence, it’s about power and control, and it happens more than you think.

    Joan was incorrect. Marilyn refused to do the movie that Joan was subsequently offered...It had nothing to do with MM's age at the time.. MM was just tired of being cast as a sex symbol...This led her to turn her back on Hollywood and head to NY to improve her acting skills at the Actors Studio. It was such a success .. her performances after being in the Actor's Studio were some of the greatest of her career. Joan was incorrect about the fact that the studio thought that she was too old to play the role...they wanted her for the role, but she resisted and refused to play the part. It took great courage on Marilyn's part to take such a stand. Joan would do well to not reinvent what happened for her own benefit. So many actors do that now, at the experience of their deceased predecessors who can not defend themselves against gossip and innuendo.

    • @TheVerbalVolley
      @TheVerbalVolley Před 5 lety +22

      + canthemum - Wikipedia DID NOT back up your version of the story. It merely stated that Joan played the role in "The Girl in the Red Velvet Swing", which was originally assigned to Marilyn Monroe. Collins only got the role because Marilyn flat out REFUSED the part (another sex kitten role, which Marilyn abhorred playing), and was suspended by Fox for REFUSING to do the film. That was when she abandoned Hollywood and escaped to NY to join the Actors Studio in order to study and improve on her acting talent. Collins got the role because MM REFUSED it, not because MM was too old for the part. Joan also embellished her conversations with MM (which she has done many times, in terms of conversations with other actors and actresses) mostly to garner attention for herself. She was well past her prime during many of these interviews and embellished her stories to create interest in what she had to say. And, by the way, if as she stated, MM had to do what she did to get roles (which was quite probable during those times), then Joan, who was considered a poor man's Elizabeth Taylor, certainly had to do the same (or worse) to get roles for herself. She was never a paragon of virtue.

    You can have beauty wealth and fame but if you don’t have a secure sense of inner identity, a sense of being loved and fitting in your psychological turmoil will overcome you. You can overcome it with a good therapist, a healthy lifestyle, avoiding toxic people and situations, having a purpose, giving to others, and focusing on the people you love and the things you enjoy doing your life will go in a positive direction. Also giving rather than constantly taking and being greedy can help you feel better about yourself. A lot of people on top actually have low self esteem and are consistently on the make and take. It’s kind of pathetic that our society venerates those in the public eye who are often narcissistic.

    Joan never recovered from the fact that Elizabeth Taylor did Cleopatra and she was film industry Holywood Star, like Bettie Davies, Joan Crowford, Brigitte Bardot or Sophie Loren or divine but tragic and most iconic and legendary of them all ( who never got even an Oscar, despite being its biggest legend of all the time) Marilyn Monroe. Joan sadly never smashed Hollywood. But she did make herself a big star and legend in America and Europe and the World on TV. Joan Collins was a massive TV smash star, in Dynasty, and she deserved it. But then Joan was not in her 20, the 30s as the rest of the girls, she did it in her fifties? but that is even more applaudable and should garner her more respect but she does not even realize it herself. She did it when most of the girls go retired, but she made herself the name and stardom like no one before her. Anyway, Joan is a big star and legend, but she should give up with these "wolves"..." she should now stop, and grow up after all these years and stop bitching non stop about "wolves" of Hollywood, well they did stop her in the end with Hollywood career, ok fair enough, but she got it back on TV :) so move on Joan!
