This was my favorite of the Dallas themes. This one sounded like mid-eighties, while the last one sounded early eighties with that synthesizer-electronic theme. This one had that robust percussion that reminded me of the music of it's time. It's really something how you can see the music trends of the 80s, just by listening to the Dallas themes.
Of all the variations,this is by far my top favorite version of the Dallas theme. The early half of this season before Donna Reed arrived as the new Miss Ellie.
Yes it's time for Simmons electronic drums with flams , a sound and style originated by Andy Taylor from Duran Duran in 1982. Every TV and pop song started using them by the mid 80s .
@DarthSideous63 But to most fans, Donna Reed just wasn't up to snuff to play Miss Ellie, as she wasn't as 'earthy' in the role as BBG was, and she was kind of wimpy in dealing with J.R. compared to her as well.

Amazing theme tune. This one is very 80's now instead of the funky 70's feel the earlier seasons had. Love it.
They finally updated the opening to show all the new buildings in the city, this brought the show into the 80s

Where is Donna Reed?
She didn’t join until six or seven episodes into the season, so her credit didn’t appear until then.
And because of her we got a new version of this season’s theme with extended ending of the theme for the first time.
My favourite opening, because of guitar 12seconds in, but my least favourite series without Miss Ellie!
The only thing wrong with it is that Barbara Bel Geddes wasn't there to play Miss Ellie that season!

I missed Barbara Belle Geddes in this season. Donna Reed as Ellie didn't fit right with me
Donna Reed would have been perfect as Jock or Ellie's sister or cousin! 👏
