0 STARS in CRASH TEST for Renault DUSTER Made in LATIN AMERICA | Renault Contests This Result

- The 2022-2023 Renault Duster, produced in Latin America and Romania, with double airbags and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) as standard, achieved zero stars under Latin NCAP’s latest crash test protocol.
The popular SUV achieved 29.47% in Adult Occupant box, 22.93% in Child Occupant box, 50.79% in Pedestrian Protection and Vulnerable Road Users box and 34.88% in Safety Assist box.
The New Duster for Latin America does not offer side body and side head protection airbags as standard like the model sold in Europe under Dacia brand. In the frontal impact the model showed unstable structure performance and a fuel leakage. Side impact test showed high intrusion of the B-pillar and an open door during the test. Door opening in Latin NCAP side impact test, which has same configuration as Regulation UN95, means that the car would have failed the UN95 test. The fuel leak recorded in the frontal crash test needs further action from Renault, not just to solve the problem in production but to recall all the units sold in the market that potentially have this problem in the fuel tank in a crash. In the same line the door opening in the side impact requires immediate action by Renault as it poses a serious risks of ejection in the case of side impacts.

What I can’t stand about these manufacturers is they talk big about how safe their cars are in developed countries but supply comparatively dangerous cars to ‘emerging markets’. As if to say those peoples lives are worth less.
People in emerging markets earn a lot less and simply cannot afford all the bells and whistles that cars in developed countries have.
These peoples live are not worth less, but imagine telling them to pay twice the price because they need to have the same safety features as the ones in developed countries

This is weird because my friend had this car and two weeks ago, he had a terrible accident in which the car made a complete roll over. He had his wife and 3 little children with him in the car during the accident. They all got out safe and sound without a scratch.

Unfortunately, I can't avoid this car because I already bought it two years ago (in 2020)😀😀. It's affordable and suits the bumpy roads in my country. It's sold under the Renault badge, not Dacia. After watching this video, I have to say I will be more cautious and drive on moderate speeds.

@@stephen10. You mean Renault. This clearly does not have a Dacia badge, even if it looks identical to the Dacia Duster. In the places where Dacia models are sold under Renault or even Nissan, most people don't even know about Dacia.

Yeah guys, and in here in Brazil the country of slaves this is a luxury car, because it costs at least 100.000 reais, and our minimum salary is 1100.
We pay premium for garbage, not only that our cops here use this, so imagine how fucked they are.
In Romania, the country of european slaves, the Duster cost 17.000 euro, and the minimium salary is 290 euro.... the cops use Duster and Logan in r Romania...

What is this misinformation? This is not the new Duster 2021 (2022). This is a production model from 2018 and it's not been in production anymore for months at least in Europe.
In Latin America this is the 22 model... Europe is way ahead... not only in the design but also build quality and standard equipaments
In Europe Duster is not Renault branded, just to start. Things are different in another markets.
The fact that some people dislike this just shows how much of a brand loyalist you can be, the car would get 4 stars if it had the european standard-protective measures implemented, but in "emerging markets" its basically a rolling coffin, this shows how little does companies care for people's well being in favour of profit, instead of having a solid standard in quality and build across your entire production, your life is optional when you purchase the car in markets with less restrictions.. lesson learned

It got 3 stars in the Euro crash test. The brand sucks in terms of safety. Since ever. Never did Dacia receive 4 Stars let alone 5. Anyone saying otherwise is a lying fanboy. Also, remember that in Europe people can drive a lot faster than in say India or Colombia...
Also don't forget that the ncap rating has changed in recent years. A 5 star of 10 years ago wont get 5 because of lack of autonamous braking, not making soft hoods for pedestrians etc.

Don't take it personal, it is a good vehicle. If you don't ask too much of it you will be surprised by the returns. Of course it will score low on tests, everybody wants you to pay more for pretty much the same features. Same bs with euroncap. The actual users are happy with it - no more no less safer than any other decent car in 99% of cases. It is a romanian concept, it is almost genetically designed to allow a little bit of slack in quality and still make a safe and decent ride under most conditions so even if it's not made in the original Dacia factory in Romania it is hard to completely miss by poor assembly job. I would not worry to much if different other factories does not assemble it perfectly. Anybody who had any model of duster say it's ok if don't push it over its limits.
My father have a Citroen xsara 2004 and has a side airbags!

The car in the video is RENAULT DUSTER made in South America, only for their market, which wants to be very cheap. On the European market is sold DACIA DUSTER which has 6 airbags and reinforcements much more resistant, and with higher quality materials.

this thing made me scared of thousands of people buying this car and being happy because they bought a new compact SUV thinking that it's an AWD high-ride car while they risk their lives because of a shit FWD car that can kill you. The problem is u can buy a 2014 to 2017 Mercedes or VW etc with less the price and safer this is so disgusting.
And when your 2014 Mercedes or VW breaks down and have no warranty you end up paying double the price of a brand-new duster.

+ thousands of people in my country buy an old golf or passat or a4 a6 E class c class and guess what those car drives so good they r faster and as efficiency as this unsafe dacia . people won't died because it was raining or someone hit you that's annoying.

Also, you might be a good driver and a person who looks after your stuff, but there is no guarrentee the guy who had the car before you is the same.
Like 10 or 20 years ago all these "0 star rated" cars would have gotten like 3-5 stars. You cannot take these crashtests serious anymore. Back then a car would get 0 stars if the cabin collapsed on a frontal impact. All these cars perform good, they just dontrhave 20 different safety features or 100 airbags, thats what costs them stars. You get what you pay for and i dont want to pay thousands of dollars for a rolling computer.

The real reason the Dacia cars get less stars in newer ncap tests, is because they lack all the electronic ADAS bullshit. The car is the same, and behaves the same in case of a crash.
This car sells too well and is extremely capable in rough terrain; plus is very viable and cost so much less then other SUVs, so it had to be denigrated !!! ;)

This is not what i get it is different what i saw in Romania show room. This car doesnt have all airbags and front colision is good. I dont know but i guess is a problem with materials in other countrys.

I though for renault duster to be exacly same like dacia duster but back then i though renault would look better than old dacia logo on it. But new dacia logo lookgs great . We have Dacia duster 2021 when it had newer facelift back then but we didnt wanted wait so long for new car so we bought this one and its great car but i see now this renault with what i even heard is so terrible in quality again dacia duster. Anyway in 2 years we will change our duster for new oen with should come next year or so 3rd generation with sound great.

@@JayJay-vd4jp Eactly, the whole safety rating started as a marketing stint and devolved into some "requirement". Although, there is no universal or continental baseline countries can still enforce an arbitrary baseline. Tesla Cybertruck for example, won't be available to the European market because the front end is not adequate in case pedestrians are hit. Every country has safety requirements yellow tail lights, seatbelts, etc ... all are more or less tied to the artifacts reviewed during the safety rating process.

@@esh2833 Every manufacturer of every product is more concerned with profits rather than safety. The regulations of each country/economic block are the ones that impose a minimum safety levels for the cars, especially cheap ones. Safety is usually a selling point for cars so more expensive ones will inherently be safer, but also provide a bigger profit margin compared to a cheaper one.

you can see it flipped on side impact and didnt prevent the impact from reaching the passengers in side and frontal impacts. Inadequately small airbags. Showed fuel leakage after impact, fuel tank leakage needs further action from renault. Its on their site and in the description of the video.

Listen im no Dacia fanboy or something, Dacia has a lot of downs, for example the integrity of their cars but Ncap is stupid. Nowadays a very sturdy car might get 1-2 staras because it doesn't have 500 electronic safety systems. Have a great day!

This is the Brazilian Duster, its dont have airbag courtine in the low price versions.
in short, it is another project, worse for the Latin market. For us Latinos, it costs 100 minimum wages, it's not cheap, and it has to have better quality.

I live in Switzerland and here the people can afford real expensive cars but on the streets you will find so many Dacia (Duster, Doker, Logan ,Sandero, etc),why?! .... because it's cheap and offers you a great value for the money.

Remember that's not a Dacia. It's a Renault and built down to a price for those markets and isn't equipped like the Dacia version is with all the safety kit. Reading other comments it's built with poorer materials also. Shocking all the same.
