- Boat enclosure curtain panels usually have a canvas or vinyl border that is sewn around the perimeter of the vinyl window material. In this tutorial we’re going to show you how to cut and make your own facing strips and sew them on window material. You’ll learn how to measure and pattern your curtain; how to hem, baste and sew your facing strips; how to sew zippers; and how to sew binding in certain sides of the panel to hide raw edges. We’ll even show you how to position your zippers so that the zipper teeth are flush with the fabric and hidden from the sun to protect them from harsh UV rays and deterioration.

You are an amazing teacher 💪👏👏
Excellent video! Complicated at first viewing…but subsequent views seem to make everything perfectly clear! Many thanks!

Fantastic work and great effort.
Thank you! Cheers!
You are brilliant thankyou
How do you not have issues with your needle gumming up when you sew through the double sided tape?
I show you all videos you are amazing
Thank you so much 😀
AWESOME!
Glad you think so!
My fabricator is starting to act up a little. It has a squeak in it and when I sew, the fabric moves fwd and backwards. Not much but the fabric isn't in a constant fwd movement. I bought mine from you guys, but I don't know much about working on it. Just the basics
You can fix that issue with a little help from Sailrite. Please email us at: support@sailrite.com and we will enter a support case and get you the help you need to fix that issue.
When using premade facing, can I put the two pieces together and bind them and then put the clear vinyl in between and sew the whole assembly together? I realize the binding won't be sewn to the vinyl but with two rows of stitches it should still hold well.. Any downside to doing it this way?
Do you know where I can find non standard screws for the sewing needle fixture?
If you start 1st stitch with hand wheel do you not have to hold thread tails.
Good question. It is always a good idea to hold the tail threads for your first few stitches. But, if you roll the balance wheel by hand for the first stitch the possible pulling in of tails is reduced. I would still hold the tails, but sometimes I forget.
Can this be used for sunscreen with Phifertex?
It can, but usually we do not. Watch this vidoe for more on a sunscreen with mesh fabric: czcams.com/video/hwM3K9irhbI/video.html
What color code is this sunbrella?
