As a Chiefs fan I hate that I have to agree. Kid doesn't have a generational wealth from a big free agent contract, he is just in year 2 of rookie deal and at the rate he is going he might not get to play in year 2. He can't afford to be this stupid yet.

I am sure his agent, lawyer and people like Mahomes warned him, but he's got to keep it real with his boys. The NFL seems too slow to pass judgement but maybe the union drags it out. The NFL punishing him quick could have done him a favor, giving him a signal that he wasn't going to pull a Tyreek or Ray Lewis and skate.
I still don't get why these guys don't hire a driver for the night. Go clubbing, come home safe. Or, get the boys and girls together at your pad and have some fun there.

Problem is that most of these high level athletes have been getting away with bad behavior for years. Their coaches in high school and college cover-up the bad things they do, and their schoolmates blame everyone but the athlete, ie. any girls they hurt.
You’re not wrong. I don’t know if I’d say “most” though. Most athletes never do anything like this.
Except that he's not high level. He was a rookie with average to below average numbers and he played at SMU which they are lucky if any of their games are on ESPN+. High level would also say that they are hard to replace but they just drafted his replacement so that also says he isn't high level.

@@nickim6571 okay high school maybe I'll grant you that one but he went to SMU, they have kicked people off the team before who could fit that category. If you know the history of the school they no longer mess around with guys and sweep things under the rug. Also, colleges have kicked guys off teams for bad behavior all the time. Randy Moss got booted from both Notre Dame and Florida State and he was truly high level.
I am in no way defending Rice but it's WAY too much of a blanket statement to say that colleges overlook these discretions because there's too much evidence showing that the majority of them will not tolerate behavior like this. The only college coach that has is Meyer but the days of Frank Solich and Bill McCartney are long gone.

What violent crime did he commit because causing an accident where nobody was injured and leaving the scene is not categorized as violent crimes.

He said, "For the D line, that's basically a resume enhancer", and let it go at that. I haven't dared ask him about the O line...

Except he isn't famous (he's not even really football famous) & he barley has any money. He may have taken home maybe 800 or 900k after taxes, paying his agent and housing. That may sound like a lot of money but it's really not considering his decision to buy & lease the cars that he did. I'd be surprised if he had half that in the bank right now. As for him being famous, he made a couple plays in the super bowl, there have been a ton of guys just like him to do the same thing & if I gave you their names you'd ask who they were.
That's the issue with giving celebrities and pro-athletes special privileges and passes, they don't think rules apply to them. They should be the golden standard and instead they are giving kids the impression that the rules don't apply to them or anyone.

Florio is an attorney and while he is not licensed in Texas….i don’t see anyone having brought up the fact that one of the standard conditions of any bond (personal recognizance, cash, or other surety) here in Texas is that the individual on bond is subject to the revocation of that bond if he commits a new offense . At that point, the bond may be raised and/or conditions may be added to guarantee public safety and to ensure the accused appears for all court hearings.
His original bond totaled 40k. If he committed a new assaultive offense, does anyone think Dallas County district court judge (or magistrate depending on current case status ) will raise the bond or impose conditions? Such conditions could include drug and alcohol testing, GPS monitoring, a ban on leaving Dallas and contiguous counties, or other options.
I attempted to look this up in Dallas County court records but unsurprisingly the system is down
The greatest catalyst to change is discomfort. I hope Rice and the NFL are so uncomfortable now that they change the way they are behaving. Either he grows up and stop acting like a jackass or the NFL needs to decide that he is an embarrassment and suspend him. He's not that frick'n special. I'm sure the Chiefs can find another talented wideout that will do the job and not be so oblivious to his own actions off the field. Wasting his opportunity playing badass because he has a little money in his pocket. Grow the F up man, you are a PROFESSIONAL now.

KC has let several players go for reasons of misconduct; this is a silly comment. KC will do what they see fit once they have more information on the matter at hand and make decisions based on what they know. To immediately kick a guy off a team until information is gathered is stupid. He will receive punishment, but to say KC doesn't care is a dumb comment, they care the most I'm sure.

Going to a nightclub was really unwise. That said, the alleged assault is on a photographer, that has to be looked at in context. Sometimes these folks will provoke celebrities. Glad to hear Florio remind a person is innocent unless found guilty.

They have a video showing Rashee Rice speeding, crashing into other cars, and leaving the scene of a crime, yet this guy is allowed to work out with the team. What in the heck is going on? The video tells all, the NFL doesn't have to wait for any process to develop to make a decision. Rashee Rice must go now. Now he's assaulting people, what are they waiting for?

Think of all the sentences that start with "An NFL player was at a nightclub" and it ends badly. After his dumbassery with the cars, he really should be stocking up games from Steam, ordering in and chilling till his legal issues were resolved. I believe Hunter Renfro is still available…granted he is not the athlete Rice is, but Renfro is a good possession receiver. Rice is likely going to miss 4-8 games.
