    I don't think the league would give Tepper approval to relocate to another state, considering the controversy from the last relocation involving the Rams, and subsequent payout to the city of St. Louis. And Tepper isn't necessarily in the good graces of fellow NFL owners either. As a matter of of history, the one team that was blocked from moving was the Minnesota Vikings in 2003. Then owner Red McCombs was threatening to move the franchise to San Antonio if he didn't get a publicly funded new stadium, but the federal courts filed an injunction on any move, and the league commissioner was preparing to sanction McCombs. McCombs sold the Vikings two years later to Mark and Zygi Wilf, i honestly don't see Tepper owning the Panthers franchise for very much longer.

    Why does he not tell his viewers that the money is coming from a fund that's already been setup and taxes have been paid into it for decades already. It's not like new money is having to be generated for the money to be paid out. I think it's fine to question whether public funds should be used for the 0.0001% but this question was ultimately settled when the tax was created, not around this most recent vote. And exactly zero people have articulated an alternative use for the funds so that the public can make a real decision as to what it wants to do with the money. Essentially, if the point is to vote it down, the arguments put forth to actually stop it have been beyond garbage. There's no alternative sales pitch, just whining.

    • @TypicalThirty
      @TypicalThirty Před 4 dny +3

    I think the problem is most people don't think about the revenue that the team brings in for the city is much more than 650 million. One of the members that voted was quoted saying that bank of America brought in 1.5 billion in economic impact yearly so simple math here 1.5 bil> 650 million not to mention the fact that it's a 1 time fee of 650 mil and 1.5 billion yearly but this makes sense and I think if you wanted to you could do a financial analysis to see if the percentage of football fans creat enough revenue per year to warrant the payback of 650 million but without an analysis it seems like a no brainer here

    This is insane, They just put 40-60M into that stadium like 5 years ago. Why on earth would you invest $650M into this old outdated stadium when in 20 years you are going to build another one. Just build a new one using the $650M and have Tapper put up the other $500M because in 20 years small market stadiums will cost 3-5B which whoever will own the team at that time and that owner will be asking for 75% of the cost to build the new one. He already owes the land across the street from the stadium. Plus Charlotte is having a massive housing issue which needs to be addressed. Taxes have been going up each year by a lot in charlotte which is causing people to move outside the city limits, and guess what they aren't going to drive into the city and pay 50 bucks for parking and insane tickets, food, and drinks inside the stadium. These projects don't bring jobs or help small business like they always clam.

I wouldn’t put it past Tepper to pack up and leave which gives him the negotiating leverage. Once these renovations are complete the NFL will most likely give Charlotte a Super Bowl and the city will make most if not all the $650 million back. Problem with this take…
    1. Tepper has spent $3,000,000,000 plus on the Panthers and Charlotte FC. So he is spending a large sum of money
    2. He’s pledging to invest hundred of millions of his own dollars in addition to what he’s asking for from the city
    3. He’s already proven with Rock Hill he’s not afraid to pull out of a deal and leave if he feels like, or is, being getting screwed.
    4. It would be a big deal if he left. Many fans of the Panthers in both the Carolinas…
    5. Most people if they were in steppers shoes would do the exact same kind of thing in trying to find ways for help.
    6. The city of Charlotte is already pledging to help the Hornets in renovations and a new practice stadium. So the Hornets get help and the Panthers don’t?
    Many important facts being left out of your analysis here…

The money is earmarked for this exact thing from tourism funds. It cant be used for other things outside of growing the entertainment and tourism in the area. So why wouldn’t we give it to them. You’re saying who helps us pay our bills. Us paying our bills does not add any value to the city or the area or the restaurants or the hotels or the other ancillary services that benefit from the team. That’s why saying who helps me pay my bills is silly and lazy. You’re smarter than that Mike. This is the cost of doing business and having an NFL team.
