Thank you for telling me! When I edit videos it is hard for me to decide what to keep and what to edit out. I almost edited that out. So glad someone found it helpful. Thank you for watching and for the positive feedback.

Wow, this is very eye opening! Once the weight goes to the knee, I Song the spine. It does feel lighter. I can imagine that I am doing it a little slow in the beginning as I am still trying to feel the spine. I still couldn’t feel the tinkling sensation on my spine. It could be that I couldn’t imagine the inside of my spine so clearly. Will you get a tinkling sensation each time you song the spine? Thank you again for helping us with this amazing exercise.

Thank you! Sounds like you are doing a good job of songing the spine. Feeling lighter is what we want. Slow is good too. In fact, the more advanced I get, the more slowly I go because I want to feel the nuances. Don’t worry about feeling the tingling. Just because you do not feel it, does not mean Qi is not there. It is there. I don’t feel it every time either. Also don’t worry about perfectly visualizing the spine. Just a general visualization of the vertebrae and the spaces in between the vertebrae is good enough. Or you can imagine the spine as a long straw and you are inflating the straw. Whatever works best for you. Keep up the good work! You are doing wonderfully.

Thanks for a really great, detailed explanation. If you could clarify one thing please. When practicing taiji, and for example when sinking and weighting my rear leg I can feel tremendous pressure on my quad and around my knee. Is there a way to sink while "Songing" this area at the same time?

Great question. You are right in that we should not be feeling pressure on our quad or around the knee. In fact, the quadricep should always feel as if it is lengthening, not shortening. I have three things for you to try: 1. Check your hip alignment and make sure your hip is not jutting out to the side, even a tiny bit will result in the feeling you describe. 2. Make sure you are not over weigh shifting to that leg and knee remains behind the toe. 3. (The best one of all) pretend to "inflate" your kua as you weight shift. The more you weight shift, the more you inflate the kua. This will help to relieve pressure on the leg, it will open up your Ming Men (low back) and will balance the weight with the floating. Hope this helps. Let me know!
