I had the touring seat installed and faced this issue. One time while I was riding on the highway, a small patch of unpaved road came up and I stood up to saddle that part and the next thing I know is my seat popped out and fell on the road and three lorries passed over it, destroying the touring seat completely. It was just a week old. I wish I had seen this video earlier. Since then I have been using my stock seat again. Now my plan is to use the foam from the touring seat which is still in usable condition on the base of my stock seat and get new cover made.

Same issue with my touring seat. It’s so frustrating and dangerous also. Dealer tried to fix it but they really didn’t care.

Hi again. I have an alternative fix. Either remove the two rear most rubber ‘stops’ from underneath the touring seat or cut them down to remove their height. On the stock seat the rubber stops don’t even touch the frame with or without sitting on the bike. With the touring seat fitted the rubber stops touch the frame (which they’re meant to do) but push the seat up which then doesn’t allow full engagement of the seat pin into the locking mechanism. I hope this works for and helps others with the same issue. Thanks.

Such an easy fix for Royal Enfield to introduce starting in next years model IF THEY WERE INTERESTED IN IMPROVING THE 650.

Same problem, I filed the lower end of the locating pin (on the seat) so as to reduce the angle of it (

Ideally, welding extra metal to remove the bevel would be better, I think. But the heat would be a problem

It was driving me mad on mine……..ride the bike, get off and ….wobbly seat that had come undone. This happened all the time. This fix works 100% but you need a welding machine/welder. I used my primitive ‘Frankenwelder’ and then a bench grinder. It’s never once popped off since!

Did you compare with the original stud? Is it possible to remove from the old seat and replace in touring seat?
