  • This is the Japanese giant salamander, the second largest salamander in the world, and I set out on a mission to find these huge amphibians in Japan. These animals are filled with lore and mystery and we get a closer look at some hybrid animals that are putting the species at risk.
Thank you to Richard Pearce for taking us out.

I'm so glad I came across your channel. I loved your shows on AP, and I'm excited to watch more on here. There used to be a giant salamander at the Atlanta Zoo, but not sure if it's still there, though about 1/2 the size of the biggest.
Regarding your message about seeing them in the wild. I would love to, but I refuse to visit Japan until they stop whaling and the slaughtering of dolphins in Taiji.

FORREST!!!! I WOULD LOVE TO COME WITH YOU ON AN ADVENTURE!! I have been thinking about that for years, how amazing that would be to have an opportunity to learn and explore with you. Its definitely on the bucket list.
