- This is the Japanese giant salamander, the second largest salamander in the world, and I set out on a mission to find these huge amphibians in Japan. These animals are filled with lore and mystery and we get a closer look at some hybrid animals that are putting the species at risk.
Thank you to Richard Pearce for taking us out.

Giant Slime Log got me 😂😂😂😂 What kind of teeth and bite force do the two different species have? I can tell you that, with a mouth as big as that, I wouldn't want to be close to the bitey end!!
Beautiful animal
Its so coolllll
What an amazing creature I use to dream of seeing those salamanders when I was a kid thank you for sharing them with us
When are we going fishing forest ? 😂😂🍺🍺
Imagine just chillin at home when a giant creature picks you up and says you have huge nuts then leaves
😂
That's actually happened to me twice. 🤣🤣
😂😂
I guess when you were retelling it, you'd leave out that the giant also called you toxic.
It would be like if Zeus came down and told you that. I’d be pumped
17:26 “This smells super bad”… sticks his fingers in the other guys face haha
Haha yea wtf.
An additional level of strangeness is that of course he probably knows what it smells like as he looks after them lol. He was nice enough to not respond to that lol
HAHA just finished that part lmaooooooooooooo
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Yeah I was like really Forrest? lol the guy deals with them every day.
I think we take it for granted that we get to watch content of this quality for free. I’m beyond stoked that Forest is posting videos to his channel.
Why would we pay for it if we dont work or study the subject? Is not the best thing to see
I actually really enjoyed this. It's been a dream to see one of these beasts in real life. As a 31 year old stroke victim, it would be an honor and a privilege to meet you. I appreciate all you do for wildlife and for teaching us the importance of the ecosystem.
Literally grew up with guys like Steve Irwin and Jeff Corwin so seeing a modern version of them in Forrest has been wonderful to see. He's one of if not my favourite new wildlife conservationist
He's fake like bear grills
@@smurfie8412bear grills is very misunderstood so you saying that makes me like forest even more
I started with Malcolm McDouglas, that show was so good for me as a kid in the 80s.
Dude wowww I totally forgot about Jeff Corwin too! He was all over my childhood lol dang great nostalgia moment googling his name right there haha
@@smurfie8412 I'll take bear over you any day of the week. Dude is legit. Welcome to modern tv production.
Forrest, this is an excellent video. No matter how it preforms, this video covers conservation, adventure, science, all while having that wildlife enthusiasm behind it the whole time.
i cant imagine going on a trip with forrest the knowledge he would share would be truly to much to comprehend.
"Imagen"? It's IMAGINE
@@SalvableRuin I'm sorry my first language isn't English lol
I’m so happy I decided to listen to the episode of JRE when you were on because I haven’t missed many things from your channel or wild times or interviews with you, absolutely love this stuff. Animals are needed
Keep doin everything you do for wildlife and this world all together
I'm a disabled vet and love animals..would love to be able to do something w you and see a once in a lifetime animal!
Might be hard to get to the places he goes if you're disabled.
I vote this guy
@@brandon8900 Disability is a spectrum
@@robcobb2693 that's why I said it might be hard
Man Forrest and the team are putting out some of the coolest videos on CZcams right now. So stoked we get to watch these clips and see your enthusiasm for these animals!!

Dude that trip would be A DREAM, like the stuff this dude does is like my dreams.
hi
Work hard , save up your money and just make your dreams come tru my friend 👍
Been following Forrest for years and so good to see this mans channels growing the way he deserves, great to see the love he has, really is a new age Steve Irwin.
Big big fan. Born and raised Alaskan, fairly well traveled, hunting and fishing avid outdoorsmen, and big on conservation. I truly love and appreciate all of the work that you do. It'd be a dream come true if I got to go on an adventure with you and share stories. Either way, thank you for all of your efforts to preserve this mote of dust. I just love how you consistently bask in awe and wonder of everything that we have the pleasure to share our existence with!
I thought that was a giant backstrap.
It does look pretty tasty. I thought so myself.
Yep i thought damn i want that tenderloin
Ever eat a roadkill backstrap?
It could be if you’re brave enough to
That’s why they are all endangered species bro. Although I don’t know why someone thought this giant slimey beast would make a good meal
All paid for trip??? That's awesome!!! I wanted to be a herpatologist when i was a kid. I had boas, ball pythons, iguanas bearded dragons, fire belly toads, fish, frogs, etc. I watched Steve Irwin ALLL the time as a kid, and now as a 41 yo man, I've been saying the Forrest is the 21st century Steve Irwin! Love watching your channel and content! Btw, Forrest was one of my grandfathers name😊
❤
dude i hope u win🙌
Incredible videos, I’ve been binging them back to back. Keep up the good work Forrest.
What an amazing opportunity to go on a trip with you!! I’ve been following you for years and admire your work so much. I’m so happy to see how much work you put into conserving all these species.
man this is literally one of the coolest experiences I think you could have, that salamander looks like an actual Devonian fossil squirming around in the tub.
Forrest-I was so disappointed when "Extinct Or Alive" stopped production. Great to see stuff like this. Keep up the great content!
I’d love to go on an adventure! Big fan and incredibly appreciative of the work you do to study, preserve, and share all these incredible animals. You show the world how to treat the life and environment around us, truly a leader to look up to. It’s truly my dream to do some of the work you can do.
I cannot think of a more noble calling.
I just recently discovered Forrest and have been absolutely hooked! Love everything about this channel! I'm also crazy jealous to see him getting to see and interact with so many AMAZING animals!

I have followed you for years and I’ve watch every video from all of your different channels/formats from all adventures to every podcast. I’ve grew up loving reptiles wanting to be a herpetologist my dreams didn’t come true. But an adventure with you would be real close to a dream come true. Thanks

This is incredible. Thank you for this Forrest
What you're doing is incredible, you're actually doing my dream job. Since i was a kid I wanted to see animals in their natural environments, i adore them. I admire how much respect you have for these animals, treating even smaller animals delicately and aggressive animals and keeping them safe. I personally find the more dangerous animals the more interesting, i want to learn all i can about them.
Getting to watch such informative and cool videos is awesome. In person would be the only thing better, it would be so cool to get to photograph or sketch them.

Great seeing these amazing animals and seeing the work Richard and Yuki are doing being shown to the world. Hoping to have the AI working or at least testing next year, so thanks for the photos. Hopefully if it works we can track your salamanders and where they move along the river for years to come.
Absolutely love what you do for the wildlife community and the animals themselves most importantly! Growing up in a world that we often time forget about these type of things it’s people like forrest that keep what is beautiful available to us ALL THE TIME! Protect the animals at all costs!

Had already liked, was already subscribed so here’s my comment (ads✅) This was so cool to learn more about the giant Japanese Salamanders, I’d heard of them before but not the dangers they were in from hybridisation and habitat loss and destruction.

What a joy! I study Eastern Hellbenders. The ability to travel to Japan and see these timeless beauties is a dream! Thank you for promoting their conservation!
An adventure trip with Forrest? Literally a dream come true!
Love the vids Forrest and love learning about animals
I'm so glad I came across your channel. I loved your shows on AP, and I'm excited to watch more on here. There used to be a giant salamander at the Atlanta Zoo, but not sure if it's still there, though about 1/2 the size of the biggest.
Regarding your message about seeing them in the wild. I would love to, but I refuse to visit Japan until they stop whaling and the slaughtering of dolphins in Taiji.
FORREST!!!! I WOULD LOVE TO COME WITH YOU ON AN ADVENTURE!! I have been thinking about that for years, how amazing that would be to have an opportunity to learn and explore with you. Its definitely on the bucket list.
Dont ever stop doing what you do, its a special power to be able to reach out to the mainstream about conservation
