growing up in Pomona I've been a drag fan my whole life. my father and uncle was friends with John Force. I've been to John house and ate lunch with him and his family back in the late 80s. is there anything Tony can't race?? lol. thank u for loading this for all of us to watch.

My mom followed Smoke when he was with Joe Gibbs Racing. I have to say that he is a real driver and adrenaline junkie. 3 different types of racing, and has taken the hardest one last. Reaction time is not something that is very important in NASCAR or Indy cars. Amazing!

Jack, ya cant say this was his worst crash ever. He was hurt a LOT worse in Dallas, 2007. But this one WAS pretty bad, surely his 2nd worst, especially given his age. GET WELL SOON JOHN!

Funny Car for me. I grew up only about 1-mile from OCIR, and before I was old enough to even have a drivers license I would ride my dirt bike through the orange groves to get to OCIR. I remember back then John Force having a reputation for being one of those guys that would not get out of the throttle no matter how sideways he got.
I grew up going to the old Irwindale raceway and idolized John Force. We lived in Monrovia Canyon, so we could hear the fuel cars on Saturday nights. I miss OCIR a lot. Such a great track. The pits were more accessible and it was nothing to see a driver working on his car. At OCIR we could get up close and see John running around with his never-ending energy.
Both are high adrenaline and great categories and can't really say which I enjoy the most. Love them both.. Thanks for the highlights Jack.

First time I met John Force was more than 20 years ago at Norwalk!
Saw another video early today that said John is "improving". That is good to hear. But to those who he is going to come back, I don't see it happening. We talk about football players getting their bell rung after a hard tackle and being okay 5 minutes later. Force takes getting his bell rung to a whole new level. You have to assume doctors and family have to be giving him the hint he's done racing. But what I'm really jazzed about is my buddy Tasca won in Funny Car (spoiler alert). Made it to final round against Capps, and Capps smoked the tires before half-track. He went from 5th in points last week, to Second behind Prock. But happy to hear John is doing better. Really interested in going to Seattle. I need me some Nitro!!!

My answer to your Question: Fuel Funny Cars or Top Fuel Dragsters.
Answer: Funny Cars because, they're more difficult to control,the driver's field of view is more restricted, the engine and clutch can are directly in front of the driver, the driver sits between the bead sections of the rear tires, etc. Several years ago I personally heard one of the drivers say, "It's like getting into a dog house with a bomb." T/F Dragsters almost steer themselves due to the wheel base length and chassis flex. The driver is ahead of the entire power train and the tires. The driver's field of view is much broader. Dragsters are significantly safer for the driver. Fuel Funny Car drivers are taking the greater risk by a substantial margin.

So NASCAR has safer barriers /soft walls at every track NASCAR around all of the outside walls and 99% of the inside walls and the tow truck openings.
NHRA is just waiting for the GOAT of NHRA to be seriously injured before they do the right thing and immediately require safer barrier at all the tracks.
You know what. I’ve never really put drag racing and safer barriers together, but that does make sense. There’s some really hard impacts on the drag strip.

I can't help thinking the loss of Eric Medlin saved John Force's life due to all the new safety measures created after his crash.
remember going to 1/8 mile runs was suppose to stop detonating engine issues that lead to wrecks.

EVs cannot put out the same power as nitro. They would turn to an inferno long before getting to 11000 hp.
