@@cenonjrlee3779 First thing that popped into my brain when I saw here name in the trailer. She was so hot in that movie, and still is. Looks good with the dark hair too.
I remember seeing the short film this movie was partly based off of. It's called "The 10 Steps". The girl's babysitting her brother and her parents go out to dinner to impress her father's boss and the power goes off in the house. The girl calls her mother's cell phone to tell her the power went out and the mother stays on the phone with her while she takes a candle to the basement to go reset the breaker and tells her to count the steps out loud, there's only 10 steps to the bottom, but as she's counting, the short film ends with the little girl's voice counting past 10 as she continues down the stairs that shouldn't exist. I was watching it a few months ago and it was randomly on my mind again A couple days ago. I wasn't expecting to find this trailer, but the movie looks like it expanded on that short film in a really interesting way. Can't wait to see it. (^__^)
For the people who check trailers before watching, the movie was just ok and that’s being generous. It was cliche at times. Had some good build up and suspense initially but not enough happened. The end wasn’t as shocking as the suspense built it up to be and was kinda dry. Felt like a PG horror movie. I personally think horror is best when there is little to no face to what the danger is or if the danger is from within or is a shocking surprise. This danger was cliche, when I saw it I literally made this face “😒” (But I watched with headphones on so it did jump scare me a little lol). But this Served more as like a mystery/thriller. You can probably do without seeing this one. Keep searching lol.
yeah but most jump scares only happen because they turn the Music up from 0 to 200 decibels .. doesn't really count imO .. I just want to see scary Monsters doing shit.. don't care if it's CGi or Costumes .. hate it when they don't even show the Creature but Doors Stairs and Walls
Happy to see Elisha Cuthbert's return, especially in a horror movie. She did an amazing job, as far as the movie goes, I am honestly impressed, the movie kept me on my toes the entire time. I love horror movies where the characters have to decipher things and the origin of everything that's happening to them goes back many years. At the beginning it was a little silly, but other than that solid 7/10. Some critics that disliked this movie might say my taste in movies is shit by rating it a 7/10, but with horror movies the expectations are always too high and people are never pleased when it comes to horror, either the plot is unoriginal, boring, repetitive, too many jump scares not enough jump scares, not enough character development, unlikeable characters... etc. Anyways to me the storyline had substance to it and I very much enjoyed it.
The definition of WPS in horror movies: “Mom, it’s a big, old, creepy house, and I was locked in the basement when the door mysteriously slammed shut all by itself, and I’m pretty sure there’s something down there.” “Go down check the circuit breaker, hon.”

Man this is good soo good, after a long time I got chils from watching a horror movie. I am not a guy to recommend movies, but this is, thanks for the team behind this movie, you reminded me why I love horror movies soo much. Cheers
this looks like an interesting take on the family moves into a haunted house genre normally it's the mother/wife who raises the alarm while the teen daughter is there to be scared in provocative situations and the younger child merely draws scary pictures of imaginary friends who want to eat their eyes while the dad is Amityville dad all the way
Definitely watch. I enjoyed and want more. The movie had pretty well done story, based on mythology. Acting was not bad at all. There might be spoilers. But I kept it clean enough I think. VVV Here are my thoughts on characters: The mom Did not disappoint at any point. Classy horror film acting. Good vibes and kept it interesting. It made me feel like she tried to be careful about how much information should she share with her husband, she did a good research first to make sure of her judgement. All the choices she made were quite smart. Cant say a lot more without spoiling as its the main character. The daughter They made the character really annoying at the beginning. Typical teenager brat, hating her mom for moving houses. I really did not like this route for the character as you can see that typical thing in most horror movies. Almost like they did not care much about making the character interesting. Wasted opportunity in my opinion because the actress definitely played it well and she definitely could handle more scenes, to add to the depth of the character. This actress really knows how to play emotions, judging on steps scene. The son Actually quite good. Really well done during the couch scene. No complaints. The Dad Meh. In comparison to his wife his role was small. No depth to the character. I do find it refreshing that he did support his wife in the end. They really did not leave the actor any room to showcase his acting skills. He didn't play bad, its just that he did not play a big role. I was quite surprised with how the movie ended, left me wondering. Hopefully there will be part 2.

I think she's meant to be the girl's stepmother, if I hear the accent correctly.
