    My friend had a Schutzhund trained 100 pound German Shepherd with him when he was attacked at a stop light in Miami by a guy intent on stealing his truck. The guy stabbed him in the face. His dog grabbed the guy by the arm and dragged him into the truck. The guy stabbed my friends dog repeatedly but he only increased the pressure of his bite. My friend who was on the bottom of the pile finally stabbed the guy in the arm pit. The police took the perp to the hospital. He lived but his arm had to be amputated. They found 3-1/2 of the fangs broken off inside the bone. The police also took my friends dog to their pwn vet for treatment including titanium replacements for the missing fangs. My friends injuries were superficial but he would have been dead if his dog had not saved his life.

      True. I'm concerned for the dog safety in the scenario were the knife armed aggressor is bitten on the free hand (see from minute 3:15 for reference). A real life scenario will see the aggressor using his free knife armed arm to stab the dog.

      Thomas Tammaro if I am stopped out for a walk with my female, she is trained to go there. I find it disarming to people that don’t know what she is doing. I never understood why people dislike it. As the handler, you are also unimpeded to step forward, or back, and those are your two most important directions in CQC. I also am out of her way, which is more important, in my opinion. She is faster than I could ever be.

      only problem, and this sounds stupid...but how is the dog not being trained to recognize a big giant fluffy suit as a sign to attack, rather than the knife? like, i understand she is trained to bite, but it sure seems like shes more trained to recognize a bite suit as the guy she is eventually gonna have to bite so she focuses on him. Obviously its pretty tough to train a bite dog without a bite suit, and this dog is tremendously well trained, but i find it very hard to believe she acts like this in every situation. I have a feeling she is probably target locked on the biggest thing walking towards her.

    • @JokerX126

      @@coopercartmill they make hidden bite sleeves that go underneath a jacket or underneath pants. They are only used once the dog is at an extremely advanced level to training and the trainer has complete control of the dog. So you can move past the recognizing of a bite suit and to real world application. Then you can move to even more advanced which is real life scenarios where you can train a car jacking, a house break in, someone attacking you on the street. Muggings. There's no limit once you have 100% control and trust built

    Belgian Malinois are bred for exactly this reason! My dad trained dozens of Belgian Malinois and competed in Belgian NVBK Ringsport championships. To get a dog to that level of obedience, you have to train them 7 days a week for 2 or 3 years so I can tell you this guy in the video is an amazing dog trainer. These dogs are so smart and loyal, they are just on another level! The only thing they want is to work, please and protect their owner. This is Belgian Ringsport in real live situations. I love the Malinois as well. I have owned a white GSD, an adopted dog I think was a malinois, and a yellow lab so far.. the “maybe mal” came from SPCA and was fixed at 8 weeks so I have no idea. When I owned him, genetic testing wasn’t affordable on dogs like it is now. Now, I have the impossibly loyal, extra fun, and extreme water loving lab!! He is intense for the water. My husband has a business on the lake so it is perfect!! We go to the lake and I let Tater (yellow lab) out of the car. He goes from car to lake, EVERYTIME. I want to get more experience with learning the RIGHT WAYS to handle and discipline my dogs and hopefully someday I will be ready to own a mal.

      It hurts my heart the way Hollywood influences popularity in dog breeds. There should be a disclaimer at the beginning AND end of movies about the reality of the dog breeds used in movies. People are buying the dogs and not able to handle them. Pits, GSD, Mals and many other breeds used in movies are being sold and bought irresponsibly and leading to the magnificent and intelligent breeds being given up to shelters because no one is illuminated on the work it takes to handle these animals. It’s sick and it hurts my heart. Maybe a petition should be signed to demand the disclaimers and it might possibly help this. Idk.

As soon as she recognizes the change in his energy - which goes from "peaceful interaction" to "intent to do harm" - that's when she moves. It has nothing to do with the knife. For real. Im always a bit confused why the dog doesnt seem to be trained to bite the arm holding the weapon tho, like idk if maybe they just cant make that kind of determination between the arms when it is go time, but they seem to usually go for the other arm like they are trained to do that instead. Idk it just seems like it would be safer for the dog especially to immobilize the arm with the weapon

    • @marcfavell
      @marcfavell Před 14 dny +1

      @@SmokesKwazukiibecause you can't it's technically not the knife that sets off dog but the movement of the person it's all body language and energy of the person I believe

    • @wcsoblake85
      @wcsoblake85 Před 6 dny

      @SmokesKwazukii most of them are trained to go after whatever is presented to them. Basically whatever is the closest body part they can bite. Some are trained to bite arms and some are trained to bite legs. Just depends on what the person or agency buying the dog wants.

The one trick my husband wishes I'd not taught her was Aller oop! (go up!) He winds up getting fingers nipped. She's good most of the time. SMART, dang she's smart. I run every am with her, I work her, the two boy shepherds work her, and there I am, 10 pm, throwing the tennis ball endlessly as I am beat on the couch. Smartest dog I have ever had. Ocean of work, ocean of reward. These are not for people that want a pet. They become your partner in life. Works for me, as I am a dog guy. Best backpacking partner EVER.
