I wonder, how many Jonathan Sackses does the world Jewry have today? Where are they? We don't hear them. How do we cast our Jewish vision without widespread Jewish teachers? Not fanatic ones, only wise ones. Judaism is difficult to be understood in its core without good teachers. We run out of fathers too. Children are lost without educated fathers in contemporary societies. The young Jew-to-become needs time for Jewish education. Bar Mitzvah is not a typical ceremony, to become history after a few hours. It has a meaning! Judaism is a philosophy of life. Here we need the teachers, like Jonathan Sacks, who have global vision, good education and great personality.

"Behind this lies Genesis momentous disclosure: that all men, the unredeemed, the infidel are made in the image of God" - Sacks, J. 1990.

I love Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks, and loved the lecture, Thank you!
    But than-
The "dignity of difference.." is just a beginning, a precondition, as is said. The question proper is not answerd.
    What is Rabbi Sacks answer?

A disproportionate number of American Jews live in NYC, which is over 1/3 foreign born, a haven for the far left, and not reflective of American culture at large. This is probably what accounts for Jewish Americans being less observant than Americans at large in the PEW report.

Judaism is a good religion, but not a good faith. Jesus made Jewish good by being Jewish and then moulding that tradition and being into something more widespread and divine. Judaism teaches a person how to be a good person in peoples eyes. Christianity teaches a person how to be good in Gods eyes.
