20's Germany was truly wild and lawless
It basically was our Wild West period in history.

German admirals: How about we send the High Seas Fleet out with a bang and take one last shot at breaking the Royal Navy?
The High Seas Fleet: How about no?
German Kaiser : I know the war is lost but for the sake of my honor, attack this utterly overpowered enemy fleet despite the ongoing peace negotiations and sacrifice your lives in a battle that is objectively lost before it began, given the numbers and equipment.
It is very important for healing my violated ego.
Germans : ..You know..I think we just noticed we do not need a Kaiser..
And that was the end of german nobility.
Well done Wilhelm II.Well-done.
@@fragdoch-nicht1290 Admittably the point can be made that the Kriegsmarine wasnt THAT outmatched, as the Kattegat Battle which was the only major engagement previously was rather inconclusive and seeing how the Naval Prowess was one of the original reasons for why the British Empire wanted a war with the German Empire, it DOES stand to reason that it makes sense to either try to gain an advantage for the negotiations or to have the Fleet 'go out with a bang'.
Because seeing how much effort and resources it took to build it up in the first place, it was quite a shame that the vast majority of it was scuttled just after/prior to being delivered to the brits.
As for 'despite ongoing peace negotiations'... I want to point out that during the whole ongoing peace negotiations ALL involved sides were actively fighting and I think there was one unlucky American who litterally died like 5 minutes before the signing of the armistice agreement, as his unit tried to retake a small french village from the germans.
So I wouldnt call it entirely valid.
@@MajorCoolD Apparently, going out with a bang to archieve nothing is still a thing more popular with suicide bombers than it is with german marineers.
@@fragdoch-nicht1290Wilhelm had literally nothing to do with that and lost most direct Power over the Military by that time.
If i recall correctly he was somewhere at the Western Front at that time.
I swear if there is one historical figure always getting blamed for shit they havent had anything to do with its fucking Wilhelm xD
@@TheCerbariyeha for example Generral Ludendorf one of the two generals with the most power in the end overruled the Navy high command to continue indiscriminate submarine warfare against the British who more increasingly used civilian liners for transporting military goods. The kriegsmarine wasn't comfortable to sink these ships even if it would be allowed. In the end the Kaiser got the blame for that too.

Interesting that the Austrian Painter was so much in favor of the II Reich and that he prospered this state and with a strong union, however he was totally against the Kaizer.
The strangest thing is that he cares more about a foreign country and considers Austria (only the Germanic part of Austria-Hungary) a rightful part of the German Empire.
He was *for* the German people. Not the Kaiser. Hitler actually spoke of experiences he had in Vienna with the Hapsburg aristocracy. He was employed working in the middle of winter shovelling snow out the front of a high class German restaurant. He shovelled the snow so that the rich aristocrats could get out of the coaches without getting wet. Hitler said that these aristocrats never even bothered to look at him. Interesting story.
Yeah, because Austrians were and are Germans.

Fact: the Freikops actually had to form to stop communism in Germany of overthrowing the Kaiserreich
Good Intentions but sadly led to the SS-
There was no Kaiserreich post WW1. They formed in the Republic of Weimar.
They exsisted before they just expandet massifly and where anti democratic from the beginning and even tried to take power them selves they where only tolerated so that the goverment could hold the little power they had and where used to crush anny rebellion (they where rather indiscriminant in there killing btw, although this was also applauded by goverment sice they had the resonable fear of being overthrown). They also had many later nazis (example Bohrmann) in their ranks as well as later members of the SA and SS in there Ranks. People like to paint them like heros that either where strong men defending freedom from communism or that they where "the real germans" who where loyal to the Kaiser. In reality they where fashists or Monarchists and most of them where racists and anti-semetic, nationalists and imperialists and the only thing holding them together was thei fear of change so neither of what people think of them.
Ngl this comment is probably what Friedrich Ebert told himself every night after calling in the Freikorps death squads to massacre Bavarian protestors, civilians and rebels alike.

What!?
@@organizacjamemowzjednoczonych Hitler was elected to the Soviet of hte Bavarian peoples republic. TIK history has a video on it i believe
What NO. Hitler was employed by the Army as an spy to keep an eye on new political party's and then inform the army about there doings, ideologies, if and when they became a threat for the democracy, if they plan a revolution and when the uprising is supposed to begin. He and many other soldiers who shown there loyalty and bravery in the war were chosen for that. They used those former soldiers for that to keep there old comrades at least somewhat employed, finding some kind of workaround for the military restrictions, keeping direct contact with an big reserve of former soldiers and war heros to reinforce there losses and to prevent them in joining some other group that likely want to overthrow the state. So that the down sized military combined with the freikorps and other volunteers could effectively crack down on them. He was task with reporting on a new socialist group with nationalistic ideas that Hitler himself would later reform into the NSDAP. Around that time he would meet a man infamous for cruel and bloody crack downs against communist, Ernst Röhm who later would form the SA for Hitler and the NSDAP.
The Italian duce was part of the communist party until he left them because they weren't radical enough for him so he created the fascist party.
Historically Hitler only doing it for espionage missions the army gave him to prevent former soldiers to join rebels, instead Hitler join one of them and created the Nazi party which originally was a left wing anti semitic party.

germany had like 20 civilwar factions after ww1 in country and outside at old frontlines. Iam still surprised that there where acutally no major civilwar.
They didn't have that radical factions like Russians
@@organizacjamemowzjednoczonych yes we had. Thälman for example who was the leader of the communist in Hamburg, who nearly managed to start simultaneously uprisings in multiple parts of Germany together with his own. That only got prevented because some socialist were to scared about the extreme behaviour of the communist that they were running to the state and informed them about the plans. Than after Hamburg was running out of food he send one of his friends and comrades from the war from hamburg through all of Eastern Europe until he somehow managed it to reach the soviet Union with the letter from Thälman asking Lenin for help. Then Lenin got the letter and promptly send a ship full with wheat to Hamburg to support his comrades. Then at some point they both uad a meeting from face to face.
Or the Bavarian communist wich reign could be summarised into Plundering, R-a-p-e and slaughtering the most Conservative and religious part of germany as a bunch of atheistic, revolutionaries under there elected leadership of a few Jews. That after the people began to starve and there propaganda and the threats of execution if one would mention starving didn't work anymore decided to fix this problem with declaring war to Switzerland. These were the successful communists groups that weren't to radical and extreme to get enough support to start there revolution.
So you had. Well, shit. Yet you didn't have that vast terrain like Russia did, where some factions could unopposed organise

I like how a few admirals deciding to suicide their navy led to Germany becoming a democracy
Not the admirals just a bunch of sailors and they had nothing to do with the abdication of the Emperor. And the abdication of the Emperor has nothing to do with democracy. Since the german empire existed and long before that there was a parliament, even before your country the US got colonised and when germany didn't existed with only kingdoms in it's place they all had a elected parliament.
Previously it was a democracy with parliementary system and weak monarch but Wilhem 2nd didn't trust them so he kinda got semi absolute power which later served for everyone blaming him.

I kinda feel bad for the freikorps Man! These were post ww1 veterans who never returned to their wives, children, or fathers and mothers. They were bound to the fate of their nation becoming completely different from the young men they once were.
But props to these lads for having strong will power for making sure they won't end up becoming the Red Menace!
Most of them later became nazis, after crushing the spartacists they attempted to replace the democratic government with a dictatorship and reading half the stuff the leader of the spartacists wrote shows she wasn't going to turn Germany into a replica of Stalin's Russia, so they were saving Germany from a system in which the average person would have had a lot more influence over politics.

The Spartacists weren't the kind of communists who took over Russia, instead they believed in Luxemburgism, which aimed to have local communities coordinate the economy at the local level while lacking the one party system of the bolsheviks, since the Spartacists believed that the socialist government they formed had to stay connected to the people.
