- Walt Disney Imagineering just revealed their newest and most advanced animatronics ever. The figures coming to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Disneyland and Disney World are so fun, expressive, and impressive! So I decided to rank all the animatronics that we’ve seen so far on this ride that will open later this year.
Yes, including the beignets.

I met an imagineer at world championships for robotics, and he said that the way Louis is designed is changing the way Disney does robotics. Louis is so complicated that his head moves with the detail and precision we normally see in finger movements. It’s crazy how precise and detailed each piece has to be!

It’s awesome they managed to balance 3D cartoon style while sticking to the source material, the fluidity of the animimatronics, all without accidentally going into an uncanny valley.
I think this style of animatronic, fluid but not super realistic is probably what people should stick with, it makes the most sense for android purposes.
I'm kinda with you on that one. These are slightly less unsettling than the avatar ones. Those make me a little nauseated. Their movements are too smooth

I love how they kept the proportions and features accurate to their animated versions. It keeps them from looking uncanny. Mama Odie is easily my favorite!
As terrifying as kids find him, I do wish Doctor Facilier was included in the ride too.
honestly i like them they look better clearly since they don’t kinda just move back and forth in the same motion now and actually move more and move their mouths but its a bit scary because they’re so realistic💀 looks wise clearly not because its literally cartoon characters but motion wise yk?
@@kyluvs_ I get it! Animatronics are a bit uncanny in general, so there’s always that slight sense of unease around them, no matter how good they look.
As long as they’re not as scary as the Splash Mountain animatronics, I’m happy🤣 Those still give me nightmares, and it’s been over 20 years since I saw them

I'm glad they brought back proper animatronics, I remember the last time I went to Disney back in 2018 several of the animatronics had the traditional animatronic bodies but these screen projected faces that were just super uncanny, especially the frozen ride.

You gotta check out the behind the scenes videos of the beauty and the beast and the airel rides in Japan, they use a lot of the T1000 animatronics, also I'm pretty sure they used the knowledge from building ursula for Mama Odie.
Once you get into the animatronic rabbit hole, there's no way back

Tiana is by far my favorite animatronic, she’s so well constructed and fluid it’s insane
Most likely because she'll be seen/talking the longest. The only thing I don't really like is her outfit, everyone else's fits but hers seems inaccurate to her somehow.

these are the first animatronics I've seen that don't strike the uncanny valley, they're genuinely good enough that the robot creepy factor disappears
I’m being nit picky but oh well, that’s not what the “uncanny valley” means. Uncanny valley is when something that isn’t human looks too much like a human, for some people it will physically make them feel sick. Our brains can tell that what we’re looking at isn’t a human, and it doesn’t like how much it looks like one. Shitty robots, while potentially creepier don’t fall into uncanny valley because our brains can easily tell “that thing isn’t a human”. Personally, Mama Odie did definitely make my stomach turn due to UV. She looks amazing, and my brain doesn’t like that 😂

The Avatar Sjamon of sang animatronic is an A 100+ animatronic. I know that bacuse last time i call it A1000 Disney corrected me, but was one of the first electronic caracters with fluid motion animatronics in Disney.

I was thinking this too. Lottie looks like an actual statue/mask rather than an animatronic.
They all look off...? Mama Odie and Louis looks the best, and honestly only Louis looks the best, Mama Odie is ok. Charlotte Tiana nd Eudora for some reason all look the same no character individuality. And then there's ralphie....
to be fair I think that’s because some of them will be much farther from the riders than others. Tiana will likely be close to the riders, while Lottie, as stated in the video, will likely be far away on the ship
They can’t make every single animatronic high quality like Mama Odie’s, that would be ridiculous and expensive

Mama Odie is my favorite so far. The Imagineers NAILED her squash and stretch perfectly!
But why couldn’t they so the same for Charlotte?! She’s FULL of squash and stretch in the movie! The animatronic makes her look so stiff! Which we all know she very much is NOT.
I have a feeling Lottie isn't featured in as long of a scene. If she is in the finale, we zip by looking at LOTS of stuff, so it makes sense if her animation is not as detailed

It's the fat, there's more to squash and stretch. Most of the time, people are scared to push too far with conventionally attractive characters.

i don’t really know if this means much at all, but i swear this video has impacted me more than anything else i’ve ever watched. i’ve never watched the monogatari series, i don’t even know the first premise of it, but i’ve watched this edit over and over again trying to form some kind of conclusion based on what i already know. i remember rewatching this specific video over and over again during quarantine, enjoying the visuals, paired with the music. i’ve loved every aspect about it, despite it just being an amv. for some inexplicable reason, 11 y/o me adored this amv and it’s entirety. i still don’t know what monogatari is about, i don’t know if i want to know, but this amv is awesome. it always has been.

I remember watching Princess and the Frog in theaters back when I was in preschool; can't believe I was so close to not remembering any 2D Disney films in theaters.
That fluid movement. omg I remember the Pirate of the Caribbean ride and Splash Mountain as a kid. This is just mind blowing. Yet at the same time, there was something oddly charming about the staggery movement of the older machines.
Tiana looks great but MAMA looks INCREDIBLE

I’m so excited! Princess and The Frog is one of my favorite animated princess films. I’m really glad the imagineers did the animatronics justice. The new Elsa in Hong Kong looks amazing too! I’d love to see her in Epcot.

The problem is they're making the ride inspired by a somewhat racist film into one that represents the only black disney princess.
It's probably a change for the better overall, it just- leaves a sour taste in the mouth when t h a t is the one they chose to throw Tiana at. As though they're trying to cover up and brush off the error.

Yeah. He's an ani but not the same kind as the rest of these ones. There's a few diff versions, ik for a fact that the avatar ani and hondo are two different ones. Avatar lady is older & has more functions (just in her face is wild) but Hondo is a newer model. (:
