The fact that he and Marino were the only QBs to throw for 50k at that point makes it such an accomplishment. Now pedestrian QBs can do that in a career.
He's leap in the Superbowl still give me goosebumps.
I'm Italian and I've always loved NFL but became a real addiction since I've seen him play. I'll be a Broncos fan forever.
Best Broncos player of all time. Top 5 QB of all time and there is no denying. Best QB'S of all time is Peyton Manning, Joe Montana, Tom Brady, John Elway, and Dan Marino.
W
Yah I can agree with that.
W
In my opinion Brees is in the top 5
Ryan H. Did he win a super bowl? I honestly can't remember. If he did I'd probably put him in the top 5. Btw I'm not trying to insult Brees I actually can't remember if he won one or not.
My all time favorite NFL player. Dude was amazing.
Agreed
But not as good as Ryan Leaf.
+MaxyGamer Jamarcus Russell blows him out of the water
Baker Mayfield is better.
I liked him as a quarterback but that's about it.
Him and Manning, the two GOATS!!!
heck yeah!!!
+Mitchell Lee stfu
lmao stfu
Broncos13 Fan he had more rushing touchdowns in super bowls than touchdown passes, should have been a running back lol
This dude just might be the greatest quarterback of all time, when you take into account numbers, rings, super bowl appearances, and just raw skill. Still the strongest arm I ever saw, and he could run too!
plus, he did no cheat
Horrific Derp His team cheated the salary cap during their super bowl seasons lmao
Elway played when NFL was the real NFL unlike Brady and Manning
Id say Brett Favre has the best arm, but not by far
What do you mean numbers? I don't know what numbers you're looking at but Elway's are terrible by Hall of Fame standards.
I will never forget watching that SB with the family and seeing Elway dive for the 1st down like that. After the game we drove around in Denver and saw everyone out cheering and celebrating. Good times.
All of Colorado was out celebrating.
Yup..hands down..my favorite qb..of all time...what an arm and few weapons to work with...very composed and dangerous..
The playoff comeback over the Oilers should of been in there.
That drive against the Oilers was unbelievable!
@Ran Man damn what'd he do to you?
@Ran Man SERIOUSLY?! He had talent that was underrated...excuse the hell out of me.
I agree ☝️
One of the best QBs in the history of the NFL, no matter what others could say or think. You have to accept the fact that he was a QB out of this world.., "King of comeback", NFL records in many departments, Two Super Bowls, and not to mention that he's one of a few QBs with a "back to back" winning the SB..., come on, just be fair and give the man the recognition and respect he deserves. JOHN ELWAY..., one of the best ever....!
Definitely the most durable quarterback to ever play the game.
@@chrisward3469 Favre is the most durable QB to ever play... 297 consecutive starts. Facts
@@nicKz yes you're right. I meant to say one of the most durable quarterbacks.
Lmao
The three amigos and Elway were alot of fun to watch! The best Qb ever in my opinion!✌
i will never get tired of Dave Logan's play by play
Love his arm strength.
I watched most of Elway’s career, and what a fabulous player he was.
As a huge giants fan elway is my favorite QB of all time and in my humble opinion the greatest. If he played in this era from 2000 onward, let's say under Belichick, he would put up video game numbers and go to at least 6 super bowls if not more.
King of the comeback! Not sure how many people remember that nickname but seeing this vid just brings back so many memories.
Yes it does!!!
I think we can all agree that #2 should be #1. But anyways, great video and GO BRONCOS!!!
Maybe the most physically gifted QB ever
I completely agree.....but there is a new sheriff in town.....a QB in the Show Me state and his name is Patrick Mahomes! It certainly appears Mahomes and the Chiefs are going to 'show' everyone for years to come. John Unitas was the First GOAT. John Elway was the Second GOAT. We are all now watching the Third GOAT.....Patrick Mahomes redefine the QB position! These three QBs and to name a few others (there's more)....Fran Tarkenton, Dan Marino, Joe Montana, Brett Favre, Kurt Warner, Peyton Manning and Drew Brees were all better QBs than Tom Brady.
I am NOT a Brady hater. Tom Brady was just in the right place at the right time with probably the best coaches and superb scouts to keep the Patriots competitive for many years. Granted, Brady had a very good arm and read defenses well. However, Brady was fortunate and benefited in so many ways compared to other QBs. Brady had several above average players and a few great players on both sides of the ball every year. There were little to no weaknesses in any position on those Patriot teams.
Brady rarely got sacked and NEVER had to scramble more than a ridiculously low number of times. Although this is impossible.....put Tom Brady on the 1984 - 1989 Denver Broncos teams. He would have been forced to scramble and make numerous difficult plays. Brady would have had a high number of sacks during his career and his QB numbers would have been much lower than many QBs of other teams. The QB position is MORE THAN the game, season and career statistics.....much more. Simply put, Tom Brady is not the greatest QB in NFL history.
There are at least 12 to 15 former NFL QBs that played the position better than Tom Brady. The Patriots had two LUCKY Super Bowl wins. The Patriots should have lost both games. Finally, don't forget...Tom Brady was good and the Patriots had great overall teams, but lost TWO (2) Super Bowls to Eli Manning and the Giants.
Top 5 QB of all time! And a legend you can't denie it
My all-time favorite QB.
Bought my first 4x4 Tacoma from his dealership and he just so happened to be there that day what an amazing day! Such a humble dude
The Real Goat
#4. The announcer Dave Logan was added to that footage. Logan was playing in the NFL at that time and wasn't doing the play-by-play for the Broncos until the 1997 season, after doing color duty with Larry Zimmer for several years.
Jon-Michael DeShazer glad someone noticed
I'm a lifelong Bills fan but John Elway was probably my favorite NFL player who didnt play in Buffalo other than Reggie White. I've watched #7 pull off incredible 4th quarter comebacks SO MANY TIMES. Elway almost singlehandedly took Denver to 3 Super Bowls between 1986-89 and finally won a pair of Super Bowls in 1997-98 when the Broncos finally got him some help at the skill positions on offense. Couldn't believe Shannon Sharpe got snubbed from the NFL 100 All Time Team. Andre Reed and Steve Tasker should've made it too from the Bills
This highlight is missing one of the best throws Elway ever made in a game which happened in a game against the Seahawks in Denver. Elway rolled right out of the pocket and running fast to evade defenders.....threw the ball across the grain 60 yards down the field...a perfect strike to Steve Watson.
The real G.O.A.T.
Chicago White Sox Fan 93 lol nah
🧢
One of the greatest ever
Doesn't compare to the legacy of Jamarcus Russell though
+Matt1356 Bruhh Ryan Leaf is the GOAT
fools, Johnny Manziel have all the records.
nah. jamarcus Russel
Ran Man what do you have against elway
John was amazing when he played
That dude had a rocket for an arm!!
After these last few Broncos games, I had to come back and watch the GOAT! Here's hoping he gets us Andrew Luck, Drew Brees or Eli for next year!!
2:50 I love how they overlay Dave Logan giving the play-by-play during Elway's 1983 Colts game.
Even though Dave Logan was playing with the Browns at the time, and wouldn't be the Broncos' play-by-play announcer until 13 years later!
Gives me shivers...
Great highlights!!!!
I got to meet him at Broncos training camp when I was 6. He was a very nice guy.
One of the best.
the true GOAT
The greatest Denver Bronco of all time, period!!!
best qb of all time
It's just not possible for young people today, to appreciate just how awesome # 7 was. The man was simply relentless, & THE toughest QB of all-time. In Denver, & The Rocky Mtn. West, his influence on sports, is impossible to imagine! -------# 7 !!------------------WolfSky9, 71 y/o
Most certainly one of the greats
I remember "elway the number seven" song from the sportscaster from KUSA years ago
This made me cry because of the times and memories and friends gone by. John was my super hero.
Another CRAZY STAT regarding Elway... his only season with a sub .500 record was his rookie year. At 4-6.
Helicopter in the Super Bowl is number 1. Calling it now.
lol
Nope.
There are a lot of quarterbacks with talent (Montana, Brady, Manning, etc.) But what makes this play, and this quarterback so special, is EFFORT! I don't see any of the others blasting into linebackers head first. Maybe Favre. Maybe. But nobody else.
That's what Elway was, talent and ability
People have forgotten how good Elway was!
Thumbs up if you came here after watching a cab driver, Sam Snow, rank him #1? Lol
Greatest of all time
Amazing QB and GM. Top 5 QB ever, easy.
Yes
W
Man this gotta stop fr
top 3
Chris Harris Jr He just mad cause he got Jay Cutler behind center
Always Remember John Elway
You got that right!!!!
The Broncos are one reason I'm alive.
#7 are my eyes messing with me or are those the Browns in the afc championship or what
Stop
They went to 3 afc championships in 80s and lost all 3 to the Broncos.
Well those weren't the same Browns though, that team moved to Baltimore over two decades ago.
great qb ever
I was just a toddler when this happened when other kids were watching Barney I was watching him
The drive is when i became a bronco for life elway the real goat no matter what brady does
Elway is a GOAT!!!!
Hi NFL :) thanks!!! I love you 🙋 Grace God 💋
Coming from a eagles fan I always remember as a kid that number 7 in orange and kids at the park saying I’m elway
Dude was amazing and one of the most exciting players in history
Question who’s arm was stronger favre or elway, Guys?
Amazing QB, ahead of his time. For years he was a One man show in Denver, no Oline, No running game, no quality WRs and still he got to 3 superbowls ( and lost).
He would have make way better stats if he had a better supporting cast like in his last years.
Dave Logan was not the Radio Announcer in 1983, just saying.
No Doubt . . . . . and by far,
The NFL's All-Time Greatest,
who excelled on Teams not even worth being. 500, Yet Elway to them Deep in The PlayOffs 🏈🏈🏈🏈😉😉
before watching guessing helicopter elway
He was so great….
The announcing on the Colts video is wrong. Dave Logan was still a player during that game. Did you all not have the audio?
So many great things about The Duke. One thing not mentioned much but was the best I ever saw was his pocket presence. He could be standing there, than move forward or side to side or backward in a split second avoiding a sack or tackle, like he had eyes in the back, side and front of his head!
He won back to back Super Bowls at 37-38, retiring as the Super Bowl MVP.
My friends say he only won because he had great talent around him and great coaching. So replace Montana, Brady, Bradshaw, and any other quarterback that won because they had great talent and coaching around them with Elway, in their primes. He’d have won 10 championships. Take any of those Legends and put them on the teams Elway dragged to the Super Bowl with little talent and coaching, and they would have never even been in a Super Bowl.
Elway best ever, the eyes and stats tell you that.
Bill Walsh wanted to trade Joe Montana for Elway, after Montana, in his early prime won a Super Bowl. He was licking his chops thinking what he could do with a talent like Elway. Montana was great, but Elway? Next level.
Watching Elway was a religious experience, and indeed it was. Proof? Ask the many that experienced first hand the Elway cross.
Best football player of all time
Ran Man yo.. who asked you? Get outta here
Elway and Terrell Davis were the best dup Denver has had sucks terrels career got cut so short , one of many players that happened to
GOAT IMHO
Greatest QB of all time
6 t.d's in 1 game!🤘🤘🤘
Will you ever make a top 5 for the afc east teams
I just saw the other reply so nvm
nfl.can you do lawrence taylor next.please notify me if u can
If there was a football team called the Scented Candles, who would be their quarterback?
John Smellway.
I was on a job(Ironworker) in Los Angeleez and used a Sunday off to attend a Bronco game at the Coliseum; twas the 1987 season, November.
Arrived a tad late. Ticket cost $35 from a Scalper anxious to minimize his losses_ arena was only two-thirds of the 100k capacity. As usual, the mass in LA at home recovering!
In the stands there was peculiar quiet, especially hushed when Elway under center. Myself, between plays I keep busied with the Raider cheerleaders (Woaha!), the Fights on the landings across the way, and reminding self to mind my P's & Q's_ didn't want to get beat-up.
A woman behind me echoed the seemed sentiments of the whole crowd: "what is he(Elway) gonna do next!"
Well, none-too-soon Elway unloads a 49 yard rope, and be danged, in a quieted stadium we hear air being pushed aside by a football ordering a path to its target. Afterward, gasps abound!
Denver wins 23-17. I escape unscathed.
I miss the old Broncos. I’m a Broncos fan and miss every second of people being like “oh crap we’re playing Denver may as well not even watch the game.”
I have seven names for you. Of course, there are other names that I won't mention that I'm sure other people will. But listen to these seven : Terry Bradshaw, Joe Montana, Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Troy Aikman, Roger Staubach, and of course John Elway. Naturally, as a long time Dallas Cowboys supporter, I normally would go with Roger and Troy. But not this time, because this is Elway we're talking about. And Elway is often the trivia answer to the question, " If you have the ball with five or six minutes left in the game, with only one timeout left, and you start with the ball on your own twenty yard line, with eighty yards to go and your team is down by five points, which one of those seven QB's I mentioned above would you like to have the most to come through for you and win with the game on the line ? Just hand the ball to Elway and let him do his thing by taking Denver down the field to win the game in the last five or six minutes. That was Elway's specialty- he thrived on the game resting on his shoulders and it all comes down to him having to make that last drive to help his team pull the game out. So, I will take Elway over those other six guys. Would you ?
I’d take Matt Ryan over Terry Bradshaw
Had a bazzooka in his right arm
Uh, NFL.... That highlight at #4 was from 83, and the calls over the play are Dave Logan... Nice job.
John Elway won
Back to Back Chips?
Ask Russel to ask Marshawn how
Data feelz Good?
Have to update highlights. He has some new ones
Top 5 QB all time
The best of all time…
We have a John Elway in today's NFL and his name is Patrick Mahomes.
My favorite QB ever, I might even say the best. Only Brady and Montana should probably be ahead of Elway, but that's it.
drlee2 manning or brees elway is 5 all time imo
@@smoothyreal2205 The Top 4 are Brady, Montana, Elway, Manning. After that, doesn't matter to me.
@@smoothyreal2205 Brees doesn’t have IT. He doesn’t have the intangibles the same way Rodgers doesn’t have the intangibles. They’re all stat guys.
Number 9 looks like when u spam the same play in madden
It totally does it's like a streak with a possession catch.
It's like the same both times
MVP MVP!!!
If I had a game for all time champion I would have Brady and Elway play QB for my team! And hope we need a last minute winning drive! We won!!!
best qb
Passed the torch to Josh Allen
Imagine if he was playing with today's rules.
if anything he sure made every game exciting, even if they were down you didn't leave or if watching on tv turn it off because you had to see if he could do it again in the fourth. strongest arm ever in NFL some like Cunningham and few others could throw further but the ball didn't hit the receiver with the same force. these days announcers talk about what teams have to do to win, they'll say this or that or stop the run or pass, when a any team played the Broncos the analysis was always the same, STOP ELWAY, only in those days stopping ment knock his ass out of the game, the saints got busted for head hunting not too long ago,...but back then it was a no brainer, they were coming to hurt you and put you out of the game, ELWAY, Marino , Montana were all targets and dream trophy for all line backers, I remember watching games where elway went down like a rag doll and still got up and threw a dagger down field on the next play, there were no take it easy on the qb rules back then, so when comparing statistics and qb greats you have to take that In to consideration , elway was branded as the spoiled California kid that defenses were eager to give a brutal welcome to the NFL, he had a lot to overcome and to prove, while Tom Brady may be the greatest ever and had to overcome being passed up it may have helped him avoid being such a target, he's gotten to enjoy the being a target late In his career, while elway had to endure it from day one.
He's no Brett Favre, but he'll do.
Should have included the 54 yard cross field pass to Vance Johnson in sb 21 and the 56 yard opening td pass to Ricky Nattiel in sb 22 , after all his claim to elite status is that he carried teams so whats wrong with including losses to better teams ?
Not just better teams, the 3 of the best teams those franchises ever fielded. Those Foreskins and Niners teams were the 2nd best and that Giants team was their best all time. Broncos suffered blowout losses to those teams bc they were all fully stacked and the Broncos only got there because of Elway and Mecklenburg
Screw Peyton and John, my man Tebow is the greatest to ever play in Denver.
L
One thing nobody mentions when talking about Elway, nobody talks about the interceptions. He's one of the greats I agree, but this guy was an interception machine. 300 tds to 226 int career stats. His interception to td ratio is worse than Brett Farves. I like Elway, just find it strange nobody ever talks about that.
Beccccause folks busy talkin his...
Then record 148 wins as QB
Avg 10.4 regular seasons wins
Five Super Bowl appearances
3 of which he was the sole
reason
League MVP
Two-time Super Bowl winner
Super Bowl MVP
Overwhelming arm
And étal, plus add some ~
Soooo... Why trifle over a lil spilled milk after having downed a quart, and with many more in the fridge.
Yup!
you could also throw in being an amazing gm also
Yes that's a good observational feedback.
I can only imagine the stress and tension not to mention the pain of being hit.
Why is it all slow motion
He went to my HS
When they do show the patriots top five I'm not watching, And I'm giving it a thumbs down"

STAND YOUR GROUND! W
Stand your ground! Ok..........
@Jesus is Fake Jesus Love you. I hope you see the light someday.
Greatest gunslinger of all time
Chip Geron sorry man that’s Brett
I'm surprised they didn't put Elways old ass in this when he went for a helicopter ride
all those highlights are from an era when football was a MANS game.
