This man-child Charles is absolutely rude. Look how he is towards his fiancé. Diana was 19/20 here and this was probably one of her first events with him and he pays zero regard to her and how awkward she must have been. He offers zero comfort or reassurance, a simple look back towards her would have been enough. Even if someone takes a friend to a function that they are not use too it is common decency to try make sure they are getting along ok. Charles really sucks. He never deserved someone like gorgeous Diana.

Considering this took place in 1981, someone with a cute figure, like Kate Middleton could still pull off this 80's dress & make it look modernized...Last, I feel the need to mention that this all eyes on her kind of attention really made her grow up fast. Everyone at this event is an adult & she was only 19. Still a kid having to live a full adult type of life. She was brave. I would not have been able to be the strong young girl she was when I was 19. This makes me realize how amazing she was.

It is usual at these functions where the Royal Family are going to be introduce to a very large number of people, that they operate independently, but in a strict order of protocol. i.e. Diasna as wife of the Prince of Wales takes prioority over Margaret, sister of the Queen.
What you fail to realise is that from the moment that Diana got the Heir to the Throne, and the Most Eligible Bachelor in the World engaged.... locked into a commitment that he could not break, then SHE began to treat him in the same negative and suspicious and vindictive, game-playing, gaslighting manner that she treated her Mother, Father, Step-mother, Nannies and Teachers. She had had twelve years prctice at being manipulative.
When you see Charles get out of the car and walk away from her, you have no idea what the conversation was that preceded that action.

OMG! Thank you soooo much for this! Diana was magnificent, such natural beauty and charisma. She just had the "it factor". The cameras loved over her. Charles and Margaret were 2nd and 3rd fiddles which is why they eventually became so incredibly jealous of her tremendous fame. I feel so blessed to have grown up in her era. I grew up in the 1980s & I was aware of her rise in popularity , her sad marriage & her tragic demise later. i am surprised how many Brits love her still even today.to be honest i thought she would not so popular till today. Rest In Peace, Lady Diana Spencer Princess of Wales.

Agree. Diana knew there was more to her substance than all the frippery and obsession with her looks. Her commitment to improving her public speaking showed she wanted a more serious role in public life.
