- 10' U Haul Truck Review Video Rental Box Van Ford Pod www.uhaul.com/T... Well Needes another Moving Truck so went to U Haul. Uhaul is easy and cheap and I have got good trucks from them. Mving is a Hassle and Problems are plenty Uhaul makes it easy to not worry about the Truck. Here is the description from the U Haul website..;-) This is a 10' u haul Moving van. The smallest box truck rental they have. The 10ft moving trucks are perfect for studio and apartment moves as well as 1-2 bedroom moves. Our moving trucks have low loading decks which makes them 50 percent easier to load.

i havent driven anything but a bike in 2 years and rented this one and got there they had given me a 17". I drove that baby with no problem. thinking i was going to die but once i got in it felt like i was making love to the road.

I drove one of their vans a few days ago and it was a sweet experi nice overall, not sure why people bash U-Haul so much! Hopefully I don't Jynx myself though, I'm taking a 10' across the country 2000mi in a couple of weeks lol. Thanks for the overview :)
Update: I drove the 10' box truck (while towing my car) from NY -> NM. Not a single issue the entire time.

@@chrisharris6503 If it was up to me alone, I'd have done it in 3 days, 36 hours total driving time from NY -> NM. But everyone urged me to be responsible, so I stayed at hotels along the way. Took 6 days.

@@CerealMarshmallows Hahaha, 12-16 hour days from what i remember. Not much stopping, unless it was for gas or the rare tourist attraction (was tough checking most things out while towing a car). I still think about that trip sometimes, crazy that i did it all with no cruise control. Was definitely memorable though :)
ALWAYS GET THE UHAUL INSURANCE !!!! Over the years I have rented a few u haul trucks for moving. I never purchased the insurance U Haul offers until the last time I rented one of their trucks. For some reason I purchased their inexpensive insurance to cover everything that could happen to the U Haul. BEST IDEA EVER !!! Incredibly small fenced area where you picked up the truck. I couldn't get it backed out of the area without getting a scrap all down one side of the truck. I had never had a problem before but trust me this was backing out their biggest truck through the eye of a needle. Why they didn't back it out is beyond me before I got their I don't know. Anyway used the truck, returned it and told them what had happened. Because I had the insurance I didn't have to pay anything for the damage. There wasn't a dent just touch up the paint but still even back then it would have been at least a couple hundred $$$.

I bought a used 10ft truck from. A Uhaul dealer. It's a 2006 gmc and I love it it can park in any parking space and it holds a lot of stuff and drives awesome!
How much it costs you?
Around $8000 used but I ended up replacing the tires and having the transmission rebuilt. So it really was about $12000 but I bet in today’s market those trucks are twice that cost . So I guess after 6 years of use and making money with the truck it was well worth it . I could probably sell it today for more than I bought it for and it has a lot more miles on it . But I like the 4.8 vortec engine it is a solid motor .
I haven’t watched the video yet, but do you know the exact height of the 10ft? I’m driving one for my daughter’s move in two weeks.
We have a couple of overpasses here and as a former mini bus driver I know they are a huge concern 😰
This exact GMC Savana Uhaul van is literally the most comfortable vehicle I've ever driven short of a 2010 Mercury Grand Marquis or 01 Buick LeSabre. You just sink into those vinyl seats. This big boy handles well overall, I admit I was indifferent at first, but once you slide behind the wheel and start driving, this van is a piece of cake. I know that's probably not saying much...
I really appreciate that you showed the cargo space. Now if only I can find the precise dimensions of the gas protector and the wheel wells.

I was trying to decide between the 10 and 15 footer. This video helps. Disappointing that there's no loading ramp on the 10.

@@BlackoutsBox I’m actually glad I looked at this video. I wanted the 10, but just wanted to make sure my things would fit after second guessing myself. All that’s out the window now as it doesn’t have a ramp. So too much room or not, I’m changing my res to a 15

@@purporchid8628 PS: U-haul tries to ripp you off in every perceivable way. Take a walk around video noting prior dents dings & damages when you rent the truck, take pics of the gas, odometer... etc.... otherwise get prepared to see wacky charges you can't contest unless you have proof when you drop the truck off.

All I wanted was to see inside the actual cab to see if my cat carrier would fit up there...but you showed everything else except that, and had paper up in front of the camera anytime you were pointed toward that area 🤣 Maddening. But thank you for the video all the same.

Mike Right Thanks for the input. I'm in Alaska so we don't have Penske here. U-Haul is the only option I can find, but they did include 12 days and 4500 miles in my quoted price.

My family and I are moving, and have rented trucks, I got the chance to drive the Uhaul trucks 2 times, and for some reason I always liked the GMC Savana. I like how the engine sounds when you are driving it. That Big beefy 6.6 liter V8!.
I actually drove one today for partial moving out of our home, we haven't finished yet though. I love how the GMC Savana drives

No ramp, wheel wells take up 5” of height on both sides. Really need a totally flat bottom. Also, there is wood to tie racket straps too, but no metal rings to secure the hook too.

I’m wanting to buy one of these used from U-Haul as a personal vehicle and a daily driver I know that’s a little unusual but these are cheap to buy and I can finance it it’ll be perfect for hauling the atv I want to buy and you never know when a truck like this will come in handy it’s like driving a hd pickup truck only it has a box instead of a bed which is cool I’m sure U-Haul would sell me one used they are nice they fit in parking spots they are very comfortable and easy to drive it would definitely be cool to own something so unique
The 5/11 could be when the actual truck part was built(these care technically called incompletes) and the 6/11 could be when they built the cube part.
We moved from L A to Monterey 15 years ago & people in L A are like down home folks compared to people here, very stuck up & don't care about anybody or anything BUT themselves never seen anything like it, it's time to boogie.

These had the nice fleet sealed beam headlights. The Express vans nowdays do not offer that anymore which is kind of a shame.

I guess the condition of the truck depends on the one that you happen to get. I rented a 10' U Haul around July of 2015. It was functional, but it was obviously worn out. (Just to give an example, the Head Light switch fell into the dashboard when I tried to use it.)
I've found the van is better than the crappy 10 foot truck. Lower floor... no huge wheel dents to work around... multiple in and outs.... great for a local move. If you're gong one way get a bigger truck.

Since you seem to rent these quite often, have you considered just buying one? You can buy used uhauls for like $8k. Sure they'll be beat up old trucks but for hauling trash..

Do these 10 foot trucks have very decent AC & Heat? I will drive through California next week which is experiencing a heat wave and major fires, then will be up through Utah / Wyoming which the latter is experiencing snowstorms and even road closures on 1-80 where I'll need heat (me and my small animal hamsters).

The truck already has insurance on it. They won't let it leave the parking lot without insurance.
Sure for them.... Wreak it and you will either need to make a claim on your insurance if they will even cover you driving a moving truck or deal with the lawsuit, judgement and passible criminal case if you dont have insurance for a moving truck and cannot pay your damages.... Easy to just get theirs and it covers anything even small damages that you would have to pay out of pocket.

If anyone who notices this comment is reading this, I just have only one question that I need an answer to. Let's say if one were to move from Ohio to Los Angeles in California to start a peaceful settlement life, Rented a big enough U Haul van and hired movers to rely on to safely transport all of that person's packed boxes and furniture all the way to California while that person takes an airlines flight to get an early head start, Would it be smart and wise of that person to ask of the movers to drive the U Haul van to the airport just to let that person off?
