How To Record/Upload Videos On An Oculus Quest 2 WITHOUT A PC (Check Pinned Comment)

Today, I am going to be doing another tutorial and this one is to show you an easier way to upload your videos from a quest 1 or 2. Many people have done videos like this but you need things like a PC and SideQuest but in this tutorial, I explain how you don’t need any of those things and can just use something like a phone! Note: I used an Apple IPhone in the making of this video as I do not own an Android device. I’m obviously not too sure but this should be fairly similar on an Android phone but if you’re having trouble, you might just need to ask someone else in the comments with an Android phone or just find some other video that explains that. Anyways, hope you enjoy this tutorial!
Edit: I’ve seen that a lot of the questions in the comments are similar so here I will try to answer a few commonly asked questions.
1. Q - How do you record in widescreen?
A - I normally just crop the video on my phone to be in a 16:9 aspect ratio but I also really recommend Sidequest if you can use it.
2. Q - How do you record your own voice?
A - With Version 29 releasing on the Oculus Quest, this shouldn’t be a problem anymore as it automatically records your audio now. To check if you’re on v29, just head to the “About” page in settings.
3. Q - Why won’t my Oculus files appear when I click on “Upload Files”?
A - You may just have to switch to desktop or mobile mode in the browser like I explained in the video at 1:41. Also, you might just need to restart your browser or headset, and make sure your browser is fully updated. Other than that, I haven’t really encountered this problem and don’t know much of it. Sorry.
4. Q - How do you actually record videos?
A - I kinda forgot to address this in the video as it’s fairly simple, but head to the media tab in your universal menu (the tab that looks like an arrow), and you’ll see a record option towards the top. Click on that, which will then prompt you asking if you want to enable your mic during recording or not. After answering, it should start recording and you may see a red dot in the top right of your screen depending on your settings. To stop recording, hit the same record button again and it should stop it and save it to your files.
5. Q - Why is it taking forever to process the video?
A - Google Drive will take a while to process the video within the app itself, which you don’t actually need to worry about. You DO NOT need to wait for the video to process, you can just simply save the video without waiting. Click on the three dots and save the video to your camera roll as mentioned in the video, and you’ll be set.

@@DingletonFN I can’t really tell you that. Just depends on what editor you use. If you use IPhone or an Apple device, there is a crop feature in the photos app and I normally use that to make my video exactly 16:9.

Hey I know you said more on how you crop out the black boxes on the sides, but can you explain it in a little more detail for me? Your welcome! And not really too sure about the editing software. For the best editing I would definitely say to not use one of those mobile editors that are advertised way too much. Although some are good so I’m not completely just saying to not edit on mobile. And I actually recommend starting with one and as you grow you keep upgrading and maybe editing on a computer.
