I missed another step in the transformation. You should untab the wheels before you rotate the legs down.

You can remove the matrix chamber to reveal the seat part like the original G1.

The gun is made to be held as both toy-accurate variant (front handle) and more realistic holding (back handle that also has visible trigger) - he clearly couldn't have shot his Ion Blaster back in G1 :D
I would say - I love this approach. I hope we will see more Missing Link toys in the future
I don't remember if I put it in the video but I discovered that the 2 handles can also be used to have him hold the blaster 2 handed.

No, it's virtually identical. You could put the two side by side, and it's hard to tell the difference. The detail in the sculpt is extremely similar.
The artwork is Japanese from the g1 first year
