What's going on now is the same thing that happened during the real estate bubble burst. It was a buyers market. I bought full runs super cheap. I got nearly every X title from 1976 to 1992. Uncanny, X-Factor, Alpha Flight, Excalibur, Wolverine and every limited from Wolverine to X-men vs mini for $500 and there were doubles of every Uncanny and Wolverine title. Mostly Newsstands with the late 80's and up all direct. Bought them on ebay as a single lot. Dude lived 20 mins from me. When I got to his house he told me he was upside down on his house and asked me if I wanted any other books he was selling. I walked out with the X books i won and Spectacular Spider-man and Web full runs for $100 extra. This was back in 08/09.
Don't worry or fire sell! Hold and buy. When the market bounces back you'll have the big books everybody wants. Yes I held the doubles for nearly 12-13 years but when I decided to sell them I banked and still have and great X-men collection

Seems to me the lesson to be learned here is to buy what you really, really like, leave time in between buying spec books based on rumors or movies appearances and lastly leave FOMO in the rear view mirror..
As the world's biggest Anya Corazon fan, I'm very psyched for Madame Web just to see my girl on the big screen. I thought the trailer looked genuinely really good. I picked up a raw copy of that first Madame Web when it came through my LCS last week, so now I just need the 1st Mattie Franklin and I'll have all the big keys going into the movie. Will it pay off? Probably not, but I don't care to try to flip any of it - I just really like these characters and am enjoying seeing them in an increased limelight at the moment.
I personally enjoy getting issues relevant to my interests & personal likes/dislikes far more than just getting my hands on books that are considered "keys" or whatever, most of the time. I was way happier when I got the first Spider-Man/Spider-Woman meeting (I think it was Spider-Woman #20?) than I was getting ASM #252 for example, because I just love Jessica Drew & have fond childhood memories of her comics & cartoon.
Not that I don't love ASM as well, it's just not as... I dunno, personal. I dunno.
We should all be collecting what we like as much as possible & worrying about resale value should be off in the distance, like a 4th or even 5th place concern, when we buy pricey comics.

You guys ever notice there are an awful lot of Bagley ASM covers from the 90s that technically qualify as bondage covers? 🤔
As someone who collects bondage covers (especially Wonder Woman ones) I've noticed 1990s ASM & 1970s Spider-Woman also have some spicy cover art.
Don't bonk me for horny jail, it's a legit niche in the hobby, I didn't make it up 😩

Have you guys not noticed that when DC or Marvel is about to release a Facsimile the original starts to trend? It happens a lot but you guys never mention that. Dont you think that releasing a Facsimile would spark interest in the original. I think it explains why Batman #5 is trending not some modern Robin mobile 😅

Im keeping a positive mind for Madame web. Yes it’s not comic accurate however it’s just an origin movie and based on how we react as fans we have a big say in the future plans.
I am looking forward to seeing more spider women in future spidey movies!

There was a signing at a store called Collectors Paradise in North Hollywood this past week and Iman Vellani was there. She is everything you want in a Marvel Star, and a Marvel writer! She has a bright future , and so does Marvel if they are smart and keep her around. They had over 500 people wait in line to meet her, and sold over a thousand comics hours before the signing even started! It was wild, and she was amazing.
I'm sorry but seeing how she geeks out about anything comic-related & how fully she commits to the role of Kamala should be enough to make everyone love her. That kid is precious & we must protect her at all costs 😍
I wasn't blown away by the Madame Web trailer, but I really don't think that it's nearly as bad as people are saying it is. When I saw it (before I heard people freaking out how bad it was) I just thought 'meh', which has been my reaction to a lot of comic book related movies lately...but I didn't think it was exceptionally bad.

I bought the Spidey madam web recently and was surprised by the price. Like YOU said... Spidey sells
Of course the prices are down from the Comic bubble/boom; but the sky isn't falling, they are simply back to their natural curve pricing.
I'm 6 for 10 with this list. Not bad! -- Especially when most were purchased at cover price!
The original sinister six were Mysterio, Vulture, Kraven, Doctor Octopus, Electro, and Sandman. The Rhino wasn’t a founding member.

I watch you guys in whatnot which bought from you guys in the past. Have a suggestion or comment that you guys should make a show of slabs signed or unsigned and state the market value if they gone up or down like CGC or CBCS of modern comics also.
As far as Madame Web spec. There’s just nothing else out there right now to drive spec.

I did the math once. From 1980 to 2020, this book averaged returns of about 15% a year. So, pretty good returns overall. And it's likely not far off of 2020 values now.

I didn't think Madame Web trailer was that bad... Definitely wish they could stick to the comics for accuracy though, and give Spider-Man a few cameos! I'm still looking forward to seeing Kraven, I hope they don't end up butchering it! And I enjoy your videos and it's really neat to see what the record high prices were back in the Boom., but we shouldn't be comparing those prices to today's prices and saying " well hot damn, this book is down over half from what it went for back in 2021/2022".... Those prices were crazy stupid and should never have happened anyway, today's prices are the more realistic back down to earth prices... So it's not like every book has plummeted like you guys are saying.. They actually are and have gone up from prices before Covid

People are buying ASM 210 so they can flip it for $$$ because of the Madame Web hype. They don't care whether the movie is going to be bad or good. They know people will be looking for it because of FOMO. Thanks, guys!
The problem is these people buying it don't realize the movie/streaming show fomos are all but gone. All the remains is us true comic book fans and most of us aren't stupid enough to spend big bucks on these spec books. Plus madame webs trailer stank up the place. No surprise there. Lol

Real fans of the medium are not going to be “worried” about classics that become more attainable.
Comic books are costing EXACTLY what they should cost. Stop complaining about the prices dropping, they arent gold bars.

Yeah I agree I wouldn’t buy any book based on Sonys stand alones. Honestly I’m not buying books because of any movie because the price isn’t getting that crazy for me to invest.
Funny how these guys keep promoting speculation and they dont realize that the movie fans have left the building. Comic book collecting is going back to pure comic book fans and they wont be overpaying like the movie fomos. This is so fun to see. I hope it lasts.

Never before in history have mega-bluechips like AF#15 halved in value. That was a fool-proof investment for almost 60 years, but no longer. A ton of corporate-level investors who bought in 2020-22 have taken a bath to the tune of tens of thousands of dollars. They won't be back buying comics any time soon -- the ones who aren't jumping out of windows, that is.

I mean none of these lower prices should be a surprise anymore. The constant talk about it from most youtubers is like, come on guys. Clearly prices have corrected since the boom. Everything in literally every collectible market has corrected. This is the world we live in. However, clearly comics have risen some the last several months to a year. Comics have stabilized.
