In either case you’d need a touch detection plate, a chip, some RAM to hold the information, a small battery for the electronics, then it’d need to transmit the data

If you're wondering how:
1. When the guy types his phone number, the producer is watching through the camera to learn his number
2. When he presses call, the producer calls his phone from behind the scenes
3. The producer then reroutes the mic that Carbonaro is wearing through the phone call into the guys phone

This trick was easy. Production crew called these up while Michael is doing things. When Michael talks , his voice through his show Microphone is feeder to the other phone at backstage for these guys to hear. I think, the speaker part might be under that chip !?

This is actually an extremely good product idea and it goes to show how people are often limited in their thinking by what the prevailing norm is and by entering a fantasy or play space you actually come up with ideas for the real world.

Notice how he had to make him “say out loud” what he wrote on the paper , and he had to say out loud “I’m just gonna hit DIAL” so the guy in the back with the actual phone knows what to text and when to call, thats why they called those guys first 😂 and those 2 guys could have called that number back that called them and heard the ring in the back 😂 but the shock and awe really helps the host out from curiosity 😂

People laugh that they believed it, but technology is getting pretty close to that. There are ink wires, for example, where you can draw the current. (Special ink, it’s true) so it’s not that far fetched.

Although it’s not far fetched it’s a very expensive technology to produce in mass quantities. If they wanted to produce this phone by now they’d be trying to produce for one sole purpose and that’s to bring in big sales on first day. The making huge profit would be very difficult, because not many people want a paper phone where you only got 1 to 2 options. Second customers although spend up to $1,300 for a new phone wouldn’t spend more than $50 on this new tech. We do have the means to produce such a product but only in small quantities and that renders the business owner or producer useless with little money in sales to reinvest in a better concept etc. You could argue that in 15 to 20 years this technology could be better accepted, but it’s still just a paper and in 15 years the other competitors like Apple or Samsung could well be making paper phones too. So yes it’s possible to do, but you’d really need to create a market for them in the first year of producing them.

They got their numbers secretly through a survey probably at the front of the store. They waited a while for them to forget they ever wrote or gave away their numbers. Then either Carbonaro or the camera operator (or both) prompted a different man through a microphone to text and call their phones. Carbonara is also holding a hidden microphone to convey the "functioning" of the paper phone. Pretty simple to dilute.
Not even that complicated. He dials his number super slowly into the paper phone. You just need a camera or someone watching to dial as he dials.
