I had the pleasure of seeing Blind Guardian and Night Demon this past weekend. You got me into Night Demon initially.

Great review Alan! I love old school Riot but I need to delve into some more Riot V.

Really cool review, Alan! Definitely a great way to end a Monday. I admittedly am behind in the Riot catalogue but every other Friday I treat myself to a weekend album buy and this is definitely going to be this weekend's purchase. On top of the descriptions of the songs, the clips sound great and I just got a new pair of earphones. Cheers!

Cool review Alan! I personally love literally every album by Riot everything with Guy Speranza, Rhett Forrester, Tony More and Mike Dimeo and this is why Riot is my favorite band as well and now Riot V are doing an amazing job by carrying on Mark Reale's legacy.

I keep losing track of Riot, so I’m glad you did this review. I am definitely going to check this out.

Love the album. My favourites are the hardrock songs like Feel the fire. I knew before you started that you are more into the speed stuff. Good review!

TORCH put out an album. “ Reignited “. 36 years later after Electrikiss.
It’s really good. And rowdy. As if motorcycle guys formed the band.

Well, I'm now certainly fired up for this album. Thier performance at last years Keep It True festival was incredible and proves the prowess of this lineup.

A few thoughts from me about this album, especially since I - like Alan - have been a long-time fan of the band. Objectively speaking, this might probably be one of the strongest Metal albums in recent years, especially since there is a clear effort here to have a broader stylistic range, covering a spectrum from traditional Metal of the NWOBHM era to contemporary Power Metal, though not quite up there with Savage Oaths incredible "Divine Battle" (2024). Of course, it doesn't come close to "Thundersteel" - the self-set benchmark from 1988 - and with Mark Reale, the crucial difference between very good and brilliant is missing. The singer Todd Michael Hall isn't necessarily my cup of tea, but overall he's at top level, though of course no Guy Speranza or Tony Moore. The biggest problem I have - similar to many productions of this type - is with the drum sound, which sounds too artificial to me, with far too little dynamics while stressing the double bass 'till the cows come home. This has been done in a much more interesting, less formulaic way in the past, but otherwise it's a strong album with just a few lengths and rock-solid songwriting and compositions.

A great album, I no longer expected them to be at such a level. More diverse than the previous one, better sound, and above all songwriting worthy of the 1980s. Perhaps a little too long, with 1 or 2 less striking songs. My answer to your question: yes, Riot has discovered the fountain of youth! I'm curious what you think about it.

I agree it's about 2 songs too long

@@letstalkmetal Wich 2 songs would you take from the record?

@@StefanF1984 Hmmm, probably 'Love from Beyond the Grave' and 'Feel the Fire'.

The fact Riot is your number 1 band Alan makes absolutely perfect sense. I came into Riot about 6 years ago. One of those bands for some reason I didn’t fully check out until later in my life. Great band. The V albums are great. A perfect blend of power metal and traditional metal. I agree with one reviewer that this album rivals the new Judas Priest album for traditional metal album of the year. The cover sums up what I love about metal. This thing is the full package.
Screw the “this isn’t the real Riot” people! Well obviously it isn’t. But they aren’t trying to be. It is tribute/continuation. Hence the V.

It is a little bit bloated just like the new Accept and JP album. I wouldn't say I hate any of the songs but as an album it feels too long. But the again I prefer 32 to 39 minute albums.
