    Does this device have 2 or 3 fully equipped router nics ??? I've seen the mikrotik drawing about the 2 * 2.5GB chips and 1 for the 10G SFP+....but I have no idea if they are now independent nics or not.
    I mean, can I serve 1 10GB Uplink and 2 * 2.5 GB Uplinks or is this all shared ?

    • @eW0LF
      @eW0LF  Před 5 lety

      You can use that 10gbit uplink, but to use 2,5gbit you would need to bond 3 interfaces from each block(1-5 and 6-10). There is no way to get 2,5gbit on single inteface without bonding.

      @@eW0LF you can put your SFP+ port to work in 2.5G mode --- then it's single port working in 2.5G without bonding :P

    Looks like a feature-packed router at a bargain price. Has it proven to be reliable so far? I'm thinking of getting one.

      I can confirm it's rock solid. Best router with such small form factor. I like Mikrotiks in general, but this is something awesome.

      I have 1100AHx4 which has the same cpu and it has worked well for 2 years on moderate to low routing load. Lost port configurations once when upgrading OS, but was my own fault for not reading changelogs before upgrading.

    how is this router working? The only big advantage that I see for this device in simple home set up is vpn as it has hardware acceleration for that flipside is loss of USB and switching features for VLANs(hardware). Some people have mentioned that it runs pretty hot. can I place it garage where it can get like over 40 c during summers in India?

    • @eW0LF
      @eW0LF  Před 4 lety

      I am really satisfied with this router. Well, to be honest, this device is not for home setups. For normal home setup, I would reccomend hAP ac^2. I have deployed several of 4011's in various mid size networks and it does it's job really well. Our clients are happy, and it runs stable and without any drops in service. It doesn't run hot, but the heatsink is warm. Still, nothing to worry about. MikroTik stated that they tested ambient temperature -40°C to 70°C

      @@eW0LF thanks for reply. May be I could have been specific. Actually I have a small office at home with only two computers.(and about 10 home devices using internet) But 2 field staff who need to access home office over l2pt/Ipsec .My office 100/50 Wan fibre Wan. How will you suggest Rb3011 over this one for my use case? Sorry, in case I am troubling you. But, It's hard to find people using mikrotik here.

      Ok, if that's the case, you should go with 4011. I don't know whats the price difference between 3011 and 4011 in your country, but in my country, difference is so small that 3011 is not even worth considering.

      It's even a little bit overkill if you will only use it as a gateway- HEX S would be cheaper alternative. Or even hAP ac^2 if you need wireless. If you will use it for VPN then it's fine.
