- Cameraman Cam and myself go head-to-head on a rough, loamy corner to see the difference between a pro rider and your average joe (sorry Cam)! Then I give some tips to Cam to improve upon the section. This is episode 4 of a new mini-series called Pro Vs Am

Mics sound great.
Thanks! It was pretty windy too, I’m pumped with how well it cut out the wind
@@AjCatanzaro Couldn't hear it at all, amazing
I have a corner at my house exactly like this and I have a pic of me draging my handlebars standing up. When I got of the rear brake i just went into the turn faster and faster and lower. Great tip Aj
Keep doing this series! its awesome

Digging on your Videos. RIDE ON BROTHER🏁
Good info guys. If you look at the slo-mo, you can also see Cam's feet are much farther forward on the pegs while AJ's feet have the balls of the feet on the pegs and hinging. Great video. And the mic's worked extremely well. No wind noise.
Cam you are lucky to have a talented guy like Aj to give you pointers. Love the video’s. They are helping my riding.
Here we are watching two adults hit the same corner non stop. Take my like.
The "Shaw Shank Redemption" moment Obtuse! nice
commenting from Europe - there's zero sand on that grass field so you are right it's not sand :)
sand is the yellow thing you see on beaches.
nice vid!
Yo guys,... another great MX vid! These are helping out a lot... big shout out to the whole crew!
AJ, this mini series is outstanding. Keep it up, please.
This was awesome!! You gave advice to Cam and he improved by your coaching. I love learning and it was cool to see him literally progress in this corner.
Also I didn’t know about pivoting in the rut/berm where it’s not blown out so you glide through the blown out part.
I learned a ton by this video!
good English words AJ lol...in all seriousness nice vid, this pro vs am is a nice, simple and informative format.
AJ your channel has come so far and I’m really glad I’ve been on this journey with this great community that you have built. Cam does an awesome job with the camera and editing. You guys are such a great team.
Really good stuff. I am hopeless when i come to a turn like this. Great to see how its done. These vids give me some confidence to try new approaches.
I have the same problem when it comes down to turns now I have seen these videos I am a lot more comfy trying more different angles into the corners and trying to stand round them I am getting there slowly thanks AJ and crew Great videos keep doing them 👌
Pls More of this Series! Maybe the same things just on different track so we can See of Cam learned something:D
So, weird things make things click for me through association. The obtuse, acute, right angle thing is actually really helpful! I was horrible in math and it makes sense. I've got several questions about that but too much to expect a conversation here. Anyhow, thanks for the videos.
I would love to see you do one of these videos with both of you either on 125 or 250 Smokers!
Maybe as a Season 2 Series in the same sequence as Season 1!
Also, point your toes if you have to put your foot out
That way, if your foot hits the ground it will skim across it as parallel
If not, with your toes pointed up
Then when you foot hits the ground, the impact will go up your leg through the heal
It’s also very hard to point toes with Astars on
That’s why I moved to Fox boots because of the pivot
I believe there’s a pivot on Cams Gaerne boots
Sound is awesome
“If not better...” Cam killed this corner!
Another good one, thanks AJ!! Cam the Am may be catching ya someday. That blue looks good on ya too 😉
@4:40 what would be the effect if you dragged your rear brake but kept throttle on? Would the suspension remain less loaded and provide a better balance between the front and rear? Just a thought... I wish I was still riding... I'm your typical "D" rider... = one who talks about riding but doesn't own a bike. :) Thanks guys I enjoy your efforts.
Good question, I've been working on not using my rear brake again since changing bikes.. Aj please answer
Dragging the rear brake seemed to be something that guys did in the 80s and early 90s. I don’t recommend it with modern bikes. If you see pros dragging their rear brake into the middle of a turn, that’s them making a mistake. Always try and get off the rear brake before the corner begins (which in some situations may be difficult to get yourself to do)
Thank you great stuff
Thank you for the information AJ. Much appreciated from Australia cheers
@@AjCatanzaro Would the rear brake usage be any different on a two stroke in this turn though? I mean, on a four stroke you still got quite some engine braking going to the rear wheel, but on the two stroke there is pretty much none. Would you use a tiny bit of rear brake then or still none at all?
Always weird seeing AJ on a bike that isn't green.
You should make a video of how to ride threw a really deep rutted straight fast that goes into a corner. Tracks by me get beat and I have always struggled with deep rutted long straights. Then I see some guys that can just pin it and go wherever they want down the straight when the rutts are like 10 inches deep
@6:25 you can see a pretty clear difference in lever position. If he were to drop the levers a bit, would this help him maintain a more "square" position on the bike, or help raise the elbows up a bit? His clutch finger looks pretty unatural with high elbows @6:29
Good job. Thank you
Great improvement with AJs tip 👍🏻
Great tuition as always guys 👌
Would love to see you both try some hare enduro!! I think you 2 would be real fast boys 🔥🔥💨💨🏁
Overall, Cam does very well in theses videos.
Great video
Mics sound nice 👍, keep up the good work
Loving these pro vs am. Vids
Never thought I would hear a Tim Robins comment in a MX blog LOL
Another good video AJ cheers. 👍
Love these. Keep them coming.
Man this is a great series!
Also, if you want to do a section PRO vs AM vs NOOB while at field of Dreams next week, I’m down 🤣🤯
Love your content bro!! Hope i can take one of your classes soon..im sure youd help me a ton!!! Im in southern ohio by the way lol
I think he recently posted about a class being held in Ohio
It would be awesome to do this same series but like you vs a top pro, maybe Jett, or AP. Not talking shit about you I just think it’d be interesting to directly compare a mid pack guy to a front runner?
the mic sounds great
Aj would suggest to Cam or anyone else to perhaps roll down the levers a bit to force the rider to get the elbows up?....being a grey beard all through my riding years we always had them low and even today people will get on my bike (even my ice bike ) and ask why are these so far down .
Mic’s are working great
Hell yeah awesome video y'all
What would you different on a 2 stroke? You mentioned down shifting and letting the engine brake for you, how do you handle that with the little engine braking of 2 strokes?
Hi AJ great vlogg thanks, quick question ,if when going round a rutted bend you advise to allow engine breaking to slow you down which on a 450 sounds good what do advize for a low c.c two stroke or a 300 four stroke which has been engineerd to have low engine breaking what would you change if anything ?
Sound quality good
AJ is using clutch control to smooth the corner out and not chop throttle through. I never saw cam touch his clutch. I think he even made a comment that he killed the bike in the corner prior to the video. I bet just a hair of clutch would make a huge difference.
Your in monster energy 4
How would you attack this corner with a 125 two stroke in regards to braking? You were using engine braking with the four stroke.
The first thing I thought was "wow! The audio improved a lot but there is no chance they're using a mic boom on top of their heads that's too much :P"
Great audio and a very good investment, it's the 2nd version?
How did you like the Flo 160 levers on the YZ (if you did - buy a set for your KX so you won't break levers anymore haha)?
Haha yes the Rode Wireless Go 2. Only like $350 and SO worth it!
I was surprised with the Flo levers. In the past I haven’t liked their stuff, but they felt good on the Yamaha!
@@AjCatanzaro Indeed worth it!
Regarding the FLO - just need to make sure the fallen bolt is tihigthen enough so the levers won't go down/up to easy.
Hey AJ tried to find the info on your YT page but did not find it, did you try the mobius X8? Ive been usin them for a year and still not 100% comfortable i was wondering what knee braces (or pads) you use?
Cheerz from 🇨🇦!
Massive Coooooool!
For corners like this do you still try to sit on the edge of the seat? Or would you sit square with the bike as it leans
Where is the Butt Patch?
AJ what did you think of the 2021 YZ450? Thanks!
Hey Aj, How can I make a corner like this to practice rut turns at my house
i like the camera what is it
Aj, why not have Cam drop his levers down to get his elbows up ??
so no jingle jongel for us :c
ps. great series keep it up ^^
Where in Vermont?
Hey aj where can I get that GoPro mount?
These a real good, 🇦🇺🇺🇸👌
Soft dirt suddenly becomes sand :'D
Aj on a yami 🤨🤨
Camera Man Cam needs to rotate those levers forward a bit up help with the elbows.
Try to lower Cam's levers a little. They seem pretty flat. Lowering them would probably help him get his elbows up
You seem to really like it rough recently AJ
I remember a video you did a while back talking about braking with the rear just to the point of chatter. When do you recommend using rear brakes or front brakes is there a rule of thumb or is it turn by turn?
Braking with the rear just to the point of chatter is the fastest way to slow down which aj wants you too do before you inter the corner. You use your front brake very little to help keep your front tire from going to far inside of the rutt and too put more weight on the front tire. Its hard to get the timing at first but just like brake tapping in the air. It become instinct. Hope that helps
Yep. Any time I’m braking aggressively I’m using both front & rear. In this situation I wasn’t braking really at all coming in because it was too bumpy. So I was off the rear completely. And was just barely using the front brake to help keep the front wheel in the line
AJ, you always instruct to not use the clutch in the turns. But we notice you use it in this video. ???
Yes, so I use it just to assist in keeping my throttle as smooth as possible. If I hit a bump and my right wrist moves, I can use the clutch a tiny bit to keep the rpms smooth. The reason I teach little-to-no-clutch is because I’m constantly unteaching riders who were taught the wrong situations when the clutch is needed, and for most lower level riders you can easily just go without it
👍🏻
Where is the husky
Yeah, great video. Better if you let us hear the bikes rather than that crappy music. Dont cut out the sounds of the bikes completely!
When I win my bike can you teach me?
Obvi
Cam is a better rider than he thinks he is.
Who’s Yamaha was that ?
You Yamaha team now ??
No. It's a loan from Cam's friend I think.
Are you going to qualify for any pro races this year?
First woooo
Why you riding a Yamaha out of curiosity
Because they are good haha
Because he didn't bring his bike there so he used someone's else bike :)
I just fly into locations so I’m always borrowing bikes! 😬 The Yamaha 250f is amazing
"Its Pro Vs Am - A miniseries with Cam not Can. mak'n vids of things and then toodaloo"
You have gopros on your chins but don’t show the shots. I know it’s for audio but I would love to see the shots from the chin.

Day 65 of becoming the most subscribed CZcams channel with zero video’s so I can live the life. 💪🏼🙎🏼♂️🤙🏼 this series is pretty good. 🤘🏼
You throw around pro a lot, more simi pro. Getting lapped in LCQs.... not very pro.
I hate loam
