      Orcish Artillery is a beast in Limited formats. It basically guarantees you have tempo by removing all blockers and it can also end the game faster since you can shoot the other player as well.

    The sequence with the triple Black Knight attack with the Royal on Anthony's side was quite poor from Dennis's perspective; it was around @34:00. But I may be misunderstanding the rules in A40? Dennis could have double blocked a Knight and killed it in combat and then tapped one Artillery to kill the Royal after combat (and prevent the damage). He loses one Artillery but then gets to untap with the other and can blast a Knight, leaving Anthony with just one Knight left, which would die the next turn. Is there something in Alpha's rules that prevent this?

    It's kind of a weird format since OG 40 card rules is unviable as a real format. The reason is using the original rules, you can make so many decks that kill on turn 1 almost guaranteed 100%.
    For example, 25x Ancestral Recall and 17x Black Lotus (42 cards so it's tougher to deck yourself, not a problem to have over 40 since you only have 2 cards in your deck. Turn 1, drop all your Loti, Ancestral yourself like 9-11 times, keep dropping all the Loti you draw to keep fueling...then cast 11+ Ancestral targeting the opponent. They will always deck out.
    You can also do something similar with Lotus and Channel+Fireball but with three different cards, none of which draw any cards, the chances of a bad draw increase by a lot. You can also do all Lotus and Wheel Of Fortune and Lightning Bolts.
    This is a format asking for X-points type of house rules.
    As for an OG version of a deck actually played, since in any part of the world in 1994 except for in Los Angeles it was almost impossible to find a dozen or two of the same rare in Alpha, you can do mono-black, all Swamps, Dark Rituals, Plague Rats and Sink Hole.

    • @Rorschachqp
      @Rorschachqp Před měsícem

      Maybe? But technically it's null to cast so you can't cast it from your hand, just like Modern Horizons 2 cards like Profane Tutor where normally it's Cascade'ed in.

    • @JD-gk7eh
      @JD-gk7eh Před měsícem

      I think that's pretty much the point. You can also add "prohibitively expensive" to your list. This is very much a format about what you can afford or happened to owned for the better part of two dozen years because you got it long ago when it was fairly cheap.

    • @TimmytheSorcerer
      @TimmytheSorcerer  Před měsícem +1

      To each their own :) I personally like these type of formats when you play with what you have and you both have jank 😅 eg I love casting my Phantasmal Forces in my beta blue deck, but only if I play against another equally janky AB deck.

    • @collectlusch5706
      @collectlusch5706 Před měsícem +3

      due to the the League rules it actually is pretty balanced in comparison to the original rules. There are no overpowered decks as both players build to the same rules. It’s pretty close to the original game that Garfield initially intended. It is straight forward without endless combinations and loops like in Modern

    • @jcolincampbell
      @jcolincampbell Před měsícem

      Seems pretty wild. I think my alpha jank would be a healing salve, an iron root treefolk and maybe a llanowar elves with no land to cast any of it? I like watching it but R40 is the better price point for my wallet😅
