OMG that slap bass is revolting!
I suspect the song was mixed by the bassist - whoever mixed it loves bass but hates kick drum - doesn't understand what the engine room of a band should sound like. Good playing by the bassist to be fair - but way to high and tinny in the mix.
Now I have finally found what I was looking for: A live performance of the Magnum p.i. theme. Brilliantly played!

Considering the original was played by LA Session guitarist legend Larry Carlton, this is amazingly close in tone .
Nice job, but if I may give you a humble advice, I'm not feeling the slap bass. The bass line in the original theme has an incredible weight, it's just a few well placed, hard-pounding notes that give character to the whole composition. It's one of those instances where the silence of an instrument is crucial - in your arrangement, the bass "drowns" the all-important guitar riff. It's like two people talking at once. Also, if I'm not mistaken, the original bass line does a couple of wonderful upbeat notes (sorry if it's not the right term, in italian I'd say "levare") over the synth's beat that are totally missing here. Just my two cents, good job!

Great mix, and overall quality. For me though, the slap bass is interesting but too busy. Also, the drum parts are off to the point that it sounds like the drummer heard the song for the 1st time 5 mins before recording, and is just making it up as he goes along.

The guy on there bass is wearing my little sister's shirt.
Keyboard sounds so wrong, like a bad Vegas lounge act.
The player is on point with timing and emphasis. They just didnt use the original keyboard and the mix is different.

Seemed unnecessary to me too, the theme is strong on its own, doesn't require antics of any kind.
