Unlike Tim Cotton's questions these are actually fair questions to ask. Keep in mind that they ask some seemingly "dumb" questions so the questions and answers get on the official record while they're under oath. Tim Cotton's questions however were just ignorant and useless.

His questions were valid . Congress does want to get his answers on record . Chew is very clever in evading questions and can answer some questions in a way to try to embarrass Congress . A tactic of the CCP . Chew is Singaporean , which was irrelevant to answer since anyone that seemingly has ties to China could be asked that. But he knew the headlines would read "racist" .... not so bright .

In 2014 Tim Cook of Apple refused to cave in to FBI demands for the data from the deceased terrorists IPhones. They were the radicalized duo in the San Bernardino shootings in California. Unfortunately if it involves terrorists and if this was Singapore or China or any other country which is beholden to a top-down governance the rationalization would be well they are terrorists, there could be sleeper cells etc, what's the matter anyway? They're dead anyway, and Apple would have came in and provided. Tim Cook did not. He withheld the data and the FBI was left without the data, they couldn't hack into the phones of the terrorists.

There is a reason he is asking these repetitive questions. it's also a mind play. By asking the same question differently, you can gather more information and assurance. It's Interrogation 101. Tom Cotton is not being racist here, he may come off very blunt but he's just doing his job. I admit his questions could've been better. Regardless, he has to ask these simple questions to clear the list under oath. This also includes asking the same questions from previous hearings. Which is why so many of them said, I already answered this. They know they did, they want to know how they will answer again if it will be exact same or with slightly newer info. And these questions aren't just made up with absolutely no basis. There definitely is enough evidence for them to ask these in the first place. It is Chew's vagueness and not giving a clear answer that makes the congressmen suspicious. As much as I love TikTok, I don't think any American wants their private data being shared with a foreign country. Also there are Chinese citizens working in the TikTok US headquarters that accessed users data with no purpose or official paper trail which makes the company look shady. There should have been formal documentation and protocol in order esp because they are a foreign company, whose country that have close ties with Russia and are the two biggest threats to America. And the reason they are so weary with big foreign companies esp from China is because they have such a huge hold on American citizens data because that data can be used to create political weapons and national security breaches. There have been previous instances of Chinese products collecting data secretly without permission. A big reason why Huawei was banned.

"Under Chinese law and Chinese national intelligence laws, all information accumulated by companies IN THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA are required to be shared with the Chinese intelligence services." Surely if he actually understood what he was saying he would understand that its only information accumulated IN THE COUNTRY OF CHINA that has to be shared with the government, not outside of it. Therefore only Chinese information would be required to be given to the Chinese intelligence services. I am not aware of these laws, but taking this statement as true contradicts his entire premise of selling American data to the Chinese government.

US has far bigger problem to worry about because it means all of 5 Eyes intel and communication is exposed!!!

They are a population of 1.4 billion, more people then they can handle and your country can even imagine, why do you think they want your crappy data? Are you a president or general?
