This film was a turning point for the heisei series. The "humanity" displayed by Godzilla in GVKG when he briefly reunited with Mr Shindo came full circle and he stopped being the embittered, wrathful creature he was in G84 and GVB... at least until Destoroyah murdered his son.

Bonus Fun Fact:
Despite the film's release in America being withheld, the toy company TrendMasters still utilized the Heisei Mechagodzilla in their Godzilla toyline, including the tie in comic for the line.
Rather then the Showa design that was more familiar to American audiences.
They actually utilized the Heisei designs for a lot of their toys, which I think is super neat. I wonder what it was like being a G-Fan outside of Japan in the 90s, everyone was completely in the dark until Sony brought them over to the States.
@@mikedaikaijufan3976 I'll tell you: I completely thought they were making things up just to sell more toys. "A plant-Godzilla hybrid? Mothra's evil twin? A Ghidrah from the future? A cyborg Ghidrah? A human built Mechagodzilla?" It wasn't until THE OFFICIAL GODZILLA COMPENDIUM came out that I learned about the movies after G 1985.
That's so cool! Unfortunately, I didn't own any Trendmasters figures growing up, but I owned plenty of the Bandai Creation stuff. I remember thinking Burning Godzilla was made up for the toy line and then I saw Godzilla vs. Destoroyah on cable a couple years later, it blew my mind.

Techno sentient is literally the same thing. Like seriously, Fil Barlow was very faithful.
Here’s a random detail I’m sure no one noticed: So Godzilla is shown to have two brains, right? The kaiju from pacific rim also have two brains. The reason for it is because the fact that they are so big means they need an extra brain to send electrical signals to the lower half of their bodies. Maybe it’s the same for Godzilla. Maybe the filmmakers got the idea from this. Just a thought
They were both inspired by an old theory that Stegosaurus had two brains.
Stegosaurus did not have two brains, just making that clear. The Godzillasaurus is a coelurosaur related to the Tyrannosaurids.

also, to make it even more clear, we do not think any dinosaurs(or any vertebrates at all) have had a pelvic second brain.

Heisei Mechagodzilla is my absolute favorite out of the three, even though Kiryu looks slightly cooler imo. I'm a sucker for flying weapons platforms.
I prefer kiryu myself.
Heisei has the best look anyway. Sleek, buff, and futuristic.

I love the Heisei version mostly for nostalgia. The Heisei series in general has an aesthetic that has become synonymous with the franchise at least in the western world. It definitely was the basis for the Pipeworks game trilogy, which I also grew up with.

In my opinion this is the most realistic depiction of Mecha-Godzilla. The design looks so great to me and it also makes sense for MG to use long ranged attacks, because his movement is limited and it protects the crew. Also the movie is one of the best and confident Heisei films. All in all a fantastic Mecha-Godzilla wonderfully brought to life by the Special Effects and of course the sound and music, that sticked in my head ever since I watched the movie for the first time. But what am I saying, all the Mecha-Godzillas were awesome. Never forget my Kiryu.
Being a mecha build from futuristic human technology is FAR from realistic as giant robots can get you (even though giant robots aren't a thing to begin with). Pacific rim has fast and heavy jaegers and yet those things can STILL fight up close when necessary. Mechagodzilla being a long distance fighter isn't realistic, it's just a lazy and no choice decision since the suit was made out of a vulnerable material that the staff couldn't damage much with physical fights between mechagodzilla and godzilla.
While I will admit this film is one of the better heisei films and this mechagodzilla is a cool incarnation, there's no denying he's far from realistic as mechagodzillas go. If anything kiryu is the most realistic out of all of them

Super is the most accurate depiction of a giant robot, the way he’s in such a static position half the time actually makes him seem like a giant mech
@@sebastianmorris91 Okay and? Mechas can move fast or slow when necessary, kiryu is a biomech which are real things btw (not in the same fashion as kiryu but still). There is no definitive accurate way to make a giant robot. The iron giant and the tripods from war of the worlds are both alien robots and both are VASTLY different when compared to each other. Super mechagodzilla is a cool mech but is undeniably limited in some areas where kiryu isn't.
@@Kaiju-bm4ts I just feel making a giant mech as fast as that in reality is literally almost impossible and sure super is far from realistic too but his movements feel like an actual giant mech

A key note you should add for the weakness is that while the weapons of Mechagodzilla is very impressive, they're prone to overheating (particularly the mega buster and the plasma grenades, the latter definitely needs a coolant) which did leave mecha G totally helpless as it lacked hand to hand combat and resulted in getting pummeled by Godzilla after the beam lock struggle.

It’s such a shame they didn’t stick with the poster design. MG was original supposed to split into 2 vehicles, which they just gave to Moguera. Would’ve been cooler to see the original planned MG in action !!
