    • @SupremeGecko
      @SupremeGecko  Před 4 lety +4

      Yes, for some reason, they really took off. They are big time burrowers so I think the composition of the substrate might be a part of it. I almost said, like from Men in Black, "I make this look good", but I think it's more like "The shirt makes me look better"

    Hi from Spain! I'm new to isopod culture and acquired my first eight species and morphs just a few weeks ago - the Porcellio laevis Orange and Dairy Cow are both producing babies and I've seen mating with both but they're pretty shy and retiring. It's actually the A. vulgare Magic Potion who are the stars of the show: they're nicely active and emerge often including during the afternoon when it's still quite light, and very quick to tuck into their dried shrimp. I'm keeping mine with no lid on at the moment and an additional misting as well as a damp area as it's so hot here. Definitely beautiful little animals!

    • @SupremeGecko
      @SupremeGecko  Před 4 lety +1

      Not so much shy as they RUN for their burrows when you open the lid. I think that could be a number of factors. This would be a great isopod for a low light- glass/plastic enclosure.

    I adore how they skeletonise leaves. My vulgare are always so busy, bumping around everything in their tub. I didn't know mushroom was a good food source - how do you prep it?

    • @SupremeGecko
      @SupremeGecko  Před 3 lety +1

    Good evening Sir, I recently got some of these (11 of them) for my daughter and so far for this whole month all they do is stay buried in the dirt.
    I don’t know if this is a bad sign or just their behavior.
    I have cork bark, southern magnolia leaves, coco coir mixed with long fiber Sphagnum moss and peat moss.
    Could you help us out? Thank you kindly.
