Sorry to say but we're divided because of the extremist hindu nationalist hatred towards all other communities. But what more could be expected from pagans?..
Muslims demanded a separate homeland because of the severe persecution they had been faced with and are still faced with (talking about the Muslims in India).
If there's anything we've learned from the past, it's that paganism and pagans are barbaric by nature, they don't respect other religions, don't respect others' religious values, can never be friends with anyone outside their own community.
We can NEVER be united. It's just a delusion.

He is dubbed as the harmonium king coz he could effortlessly play what Nusrat said, others found it next to impossible.

Billboard called it 'an album for the ages', and Time Out London described it as "The Best World Music Album in the World... Ever!". Hi Ken, this style of singing (of which Nusrat Ali Khan, Abida Parveen are exponents) is called 'Qawwali'. It is devotional singing with lyrics that can interchangeably depict a transcendental romantic love or love for your God or spiritual master. It came into existence through the Sufi saints in the Indian subcontinent. In one of the reaction videos, you mentioned it sounds like a trance - you are correct. The way whirling dervishes go into trance through their dance, this type of music was supposed to send the audience and singers into a trance. Also, the reason the chorus singers and instrumentalists watch all Qawwali singers like hawks is - this music is completely improvised. The 'raaga' remains the same (same set of base notes), but the singer can play around with the music, the beat, the lyrics, as much as he wants to. SO the accompanying musicians have to keep a track of the Qawwali singer all the time, to not lose the beat, tune, and they have to improvise too, taking their cue from the main singer! It is the most beautiful music out there. You should watch Nusrat Ali Khan's "Live - Chhaap Tilak" and "Live - Yeh Jo Halka Halka Suroor Hai". He makes Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Abida Parveen sound like amateurs!

The rag base notes are sa re ga ma pa dha ni (ascending) and reverse it as (descending).
If we do aaaaaaa thing, it's called "alaap". The lower to higher combinations of notes (depending on which rag you're singing) is further called "aaroh" and descending is called "avroh".
These are basics of Indian classical just like do re mi is for western style.

here my 2 cents input about it
first of all nusrat was a legend. no one including rahat have filled the gap that nusrat left. no one until today could touch the notes the nusrat created.
    2. this particular style is called qawwali. where the lead singer nusrat is
composing the song at the spot
    singing the song
leading his whole band to what he is creating on the spot
and then nusrat is also giving live lessons to rahat in front of audiance
although he is going real easy on rahat when it comes to lessons and then he goes to impossible notes when he is singing alone. then he gives que to his band to fill in.
there is a lot going on.
last but not least many people sing qawwali but no one can sing the notes nusrat did.
thats what made him a legend. he took to notes to such complexity that no one dares to go there.

The style he performs is called qawwali which is based on some sufi genres. It is profoundly mystical and performed in a group. Musicians are musicians not actors, as they create music on spot (that's why you are reminded of jazz) and instruments follow the voice. He is basically instructing the kid. In these oral systems learning is done on the stage and in daily life being with a master as well

Qawali is a style of singing based on Indian classical music. So for various Kalams , different Ragas are used.. Khan saheb used to mention the raga used in the particular qawali in his live show... So depending upon the kalam pure classical or lighter version is sung.

@@amitsai And there is also then no such thing as Indian music. Just because Pakistan was founded in 1947 does not mean those ethnic people have a culture and history. Indians love to claim anything good of Pakistans as there own. This is a Pakistani song, sung by a Pakistani, written by a Pakistani and composed by a Pakistani.

one important note, they are pakistani singers, and i'm no expert but i'd say that while india and pakistan share a similar musical and singing heritage and there's a lot of crossover, there are important distinctions.

Great to see you reacting to Hindustani music. You are absolutely right. There is an element of vocalise. Nusrat is using the solfege syllables ("sargam") and Rahat is getting a music lesson in real time.
