@@grantsampson776 yeah but she didn't have any previous impressions of the pot. Meanwhile with the sword it's just "the crappy sword liaos has." So she might dismiss the sword. @@transyuri4534 You got it backwards; She had no impressions of the pot, therefore it's more likely for her to disregard it at a glance. Her noticing it right away is a way to show her experience in these matters.

It's interesting to see people having a negative opinion about Namari for leaving the party. Adventurers are usually hired and circle from party to party, just like mercenaries. At the end of the day not every co-worker is your friend and they would leave if it no longer works out for them. According to Chilchuck Namari has been broke for a while and they were pretty much penniless after that dragon fight. To her there was no reason to continue if they can't garuantee her life or payment, there's also the fact that she and Shuro didn't know Falin was eaten, they probably thought she was just dead or lost somewhere, and Laios never told them. As a manga reader I understand her desperate need for cash even though what she did wasn't noble. These characters are written to be flawed and while it's mostly just played for laughs now, later their short-comings will become a problem and you'll have to question everything about these characters. Yes that includes Marcille (she's like the most flawed of them all).

Alicia is right when she says that poisonous is when your body absorbs it through pours (also inhaling/swallowing), however earlier on it showed that the creature impales thorns into the body, which means the toxin is injected into the body making it a venomous creature. Quick biology lesson: when Laios refers to Tentacles as "cniderians," that means they're in the same biological grouping as jellyfish, coral, & sea anemones (their stinging cells indeed work like microscopic harpoons IRL as shown here).
Also, the difference between poison and venom is all in the method of delivery; poison is passively absorbed either through your skin or by trying to eat it (ex: poison dart frogs, mushrooms, poison ivy), while venom is directly injected into your body by a sting or bite (ex: snakes, scorpions, wasps, jellyfish).

I really like the Gnomes as characters, the mangaka did a really good job of portraying old jaded conservatives and how even if they aren't deliberately "bad" people, they can have blind spots to the benefits of communal helpfulness and solidarity. It's a lot more nuanced than you usually see that kind of character, and I can't help but think it must have been informed by their relationship to a grandparent or something. xD

We were told that souls are bound to dungeons, which explains the ghosts, but I can only imagine that Namari is in her own little Hell every time she's apparently gotten killed. I don't think the geezer has enough money to make right being sent to some endless, unfeeling void time and time again.

can´t really go to hard on Namari for leaving, like they said she has her own issues to deal with, and doesn´t have the time to go on a payless journey just to maybe save a coworker
it´s best to think of these people as workbuddies than actual friends, like they said Chilchunk is only there because he´s been paid already

it's a simple misstep in the sub, in the manga (and i believe in the dub as well) she says "you picked up another creepy sword." key word being "another" she just knows based on design it's an old sword from the former guard of the dungeon. probably just lost in translation when subbing the direct Japanese phrasing.

I wonder if the anime skipped over something with the tentacles taste. I could have sworn that Lois would have realized that the tentacles tasted better when the poison from the creature was in his system. Which is why Lois had a strong taste (full of toxin), Senshi had a weak flavor(only hand had toxin) and everyone else didn’t taste the flavors because they weren’t stung at all. Any manga readers please inform us if this was the case. Or if I’m doin a Lois here and over analyzing monster biology.

The old man Gnome is voiced by Corey Burton in the English dub, which is kinda odd since I don't think he worked in many anime.
He's a veteran voice actor who's lended his talents in countless animation projects including the original Transformers cartoon, but he's familiar to gamers as well as the voice of Zeus in God of War, and Hugo Strange in Arkham City.

    For the Poison/Venom thing:
Poison is an Ingestible (breathed in, absorbed through skin or eaten), while venom is Injectible. A Poison Dart Frog excretes a Poisonous mucus through its skin while a Cobra injects Venom through its fangs. The Vines would be Venomous given their Polyp-like tentacles and their microscopic cells.
Also, best not to hate too bad on Namari. Yeah, her leaving her old teammates behind in a time of intense crisis is pretty scummy, but that's just how the Mercenary thing goes. Adventurers, in most media, either do so for self-motivated adventures or Mercenary work, so they'll sometimes only go if the money is enough and you'd need a king's ransom to have adventurers take on a dragon TWICE. Sure some will stick around for their friends, but sticking by your buds won't always pay for food or rent in this instance. Mocking Marcille... yeah I don't grok that. Manga readers, do they have like a personal rivalry? Marcille and Namari got beef or something?
Also, I am so sorry to hear that your cancer has returned. My prayers go to you so you can beat it once and for all. My maternal grandmother had recurring Terminal cancer until it claimed her and I would not wish that pain on anybody. I truly hope you and yours can ge through this for good.

8:50 it's kind of bad translation. Namari saying about Laios, "are you still that kind of person - using creepy sword from dungeon loot, huh?", but translation looks like she saying about item, "are you still using that specific sword?". I think this is why reaction youtubers get little confusing.

Like, ok, I'd accept that she ain't risking it all to save the person she literally owes her life to for free. Fair enough I guess. But then she has the audacity to ask her new employer to treat her as a comrade rather than a hired hand right in front of the people she ditched explicitly because she actually is nothing more than hired hand. Fuck off.

Anyone who ever tells you "money can't buy happiness" is either from a movie or never had too little money. Yeah it cant buy everything you need but the majority of places in the world its a requirement to survive. I dont exactly blame Namari for leaving the party. Falin was eaten afterall and trying to rush through the dungeon with a time limit is dangerous enough. Plus they're dungeon delvers. its a dangerous profession where reputation can be the difference between a solid party and a bunch of duds.

The new sword looks identical to the old sword. Complete with the wings. There was the whole deal where Laios realized the wings had fallen off the old sword, which led into telling the story of how he got the sword, which was his first experience with the living armors, which informed him that the living armors were acting strangely, which led to his one v one with the big one, where the old sword broke, which led to getting the new sword, complete with the same wings.

    • @billlee3851
      @billlee3851 Před 5 měsíci +2

It doesn't though, they both have the wings but their designs are slightly different. Namari being a weapon expert would realize something like that. It's more like a translation error, Namari doesn't mean that particular sword but weird swords in general. Other comments have explained this.

Fun Fact: Marcille is 5'3'' and Laios is 6'1'', a height difference only two inches less than that which is between you and Richard.
Also Marcille is only half Elf (indicated by her rounded elf ears) with the other half being "Tall-Man" which is the term used for humans in this fantasy setting because they're the tallest race. So when that Kobold sniffs their party out and identifies Laios as a Tall-Man in an earlier episode, he isn't referring to his height, but his race.
