17th February 2024. Sri Lanka railways cab ride on the Viceroy Special.

Sri Lanka. This is part of a trip from Trincomalee to Galoya junction and then to Valaichchenai. Cab ride on class B2B 213 4-6-0 from Galoya junction railway station to Polonnaruwa. The locomotives swapped train ends at the junction and the steam loco was turned on the Cowans Sheldon turntable. The diesel loco on the back of the train is pushing most of the time. A generator car provides electricity for air conditioning units in the outer tourist coaches (BFO?)with a kitchen car between them. A private hire train organised by the Railway Touring Company as part of our holiday.
The camera has damaged lens protectors, the result of getting too close to vegetation at speed.
