- I have always wondered about infrared or night vision technology. Having never had the chance to test products in that category I wasn't sure what to expect. But thanks to the people at Creative XP, I have been able to start experimenting and reviewing their Glass Owl Pro Infrared night vision binoculars! In this video we have an initial look at the features and functionality as well as the first look at some field use footage. Extensive field testing to follow in a future video!

@@outerlimitless I just bought one of these tonight. Pleas do some more instructional videos. I want to learn to record, then down load it to a laptop.
While my NV binocs is not the same brand, it is essentially the same unit and uses six AA's. I am using Kentli 3000 mwh Lithium rechargeables. They do not slowly lose voltage as they discharge. These are regulated to hold a solid 1.5 volts until the lithium cell reaches discharge, at which point they will turn off to prevent damage to the cell. They work just fine in this application. You must use the Kentli charger which you can buy as a package, charger plus AA's. You can always keep some alkalines as backup if you manage to use up the charge in the Kentlis.
Those optics look super, ideal for hunting. Great video.👍

Get a nice compact and light tripod for it. Benro makes a nice carbon fiber tripod for like $110 maybe. It'll help a lot
Also... they are rumored to have a new version with improved recording resolution...and I think sensor
in 100 years they will look at this and marvel at how ridiculously bulky it was, just like the first cell phones lol

Exactly, these IR binoculars work well. It’s just trying to set date or upload videos to my iPad, neither is easy. So difficult!
i purchased a digital camera night vision binocular with audio too and i think its important to beable to comment on what your doing and looking at with your device.
Night vision will always be fun
I'm really looking forward to further testing. I think it will be pretty fun! I have some nice IR flashlights on the way for testing purposes.
@@outerlimitless or one of those military strobes. Although I feel like the ones u commonly see for sale are probably from the 90s and super outdated.
Can you use a powerbank by itself to power the device or does the rechargeable batteries have to be in there too? Curious cause I might just permanently attach a small bank on it.

How do I add SOUND to Creative IR binoculars? Is there a intelligent part to have audio on my EXCELLENT videos?
I turned them on and they will not go past the initial screen. Any suggestions on what to do with it? And the. Won’t shut off so far not real impressed unless I’m the idiot.
How do you set PROPER DATE/TIME?
Many of these stop working after a few months. I just saw a video on one that stopped after three weeks.
Can these be mounted to a head set?

Love creative XR for ufo search videos! I have awesome videos, but if I could have the audio of Owls, Bugs, even military planes! I need SOUND.
I saw in the video that you had someone go into the scene in the dark with the IR mode and it looked great but will this help me spot birds, like owls in the trees?
I would think yes if you had a tripod and you were steady and knew where to look.
They also make a great monocular too...
Any comparison between this an the Hojocojo Night vision googles?
I haven't really done much in the way of side-by-side comparisons

How well can you see the stars with these?
If you want to watch stars, you're going to need something that either abilities light, or catches way more light. I'd suggest the sionyx or analog gen 2 or higher.

The problem is that they are binoculars so they focus far out. I almost wish they had less zoom at times

Is there any light coming out from the front
Its infrared. The light in not visible to the naked eye. The way these NVG’s work is it has a special camera that can see the infrared. Basically it’s invisible light and the binoculars camera makes it visible to you
This unit has an 850nm IR illuminator, very visible to the human eye and to animals. 940nm IR illuminators are invisible, I wish this had one.

How are these for stargazing?
They're only as effective as the range of the IR emitter. Not really good for stars
Shop around. These are not an exclusive item. They are made in China and sold together with custom boxes, to resellers. Don't get me wrong, I have a pair (not this branding) and think for the price, to be very good. I am just saying to shop as I found a number of them under various names (exact same unit) from less than a hundred and up to two and a half. There are many items like this, tools for example all stamped with the name of the resale retailer. Not wrong, but again prices can differ quite a lot. Good review.

AA batteries can be found anywhere in the world. That could be why. Anyway that is not an issue for me.
Someone did a test, and found the IR reaches close to 400-600 ft away
I have the same pare just under a different name got it cheaper and after I bought mine I found it cheaper then a hundred bucks so search before u buy it is a nice and clear works nice but creative price is to much

the brighter the infrared the faster the battery run down
It's something to play with and dial in...I found at certain ranges the infra-red strength didn't make a difference...so dialing it down will probably aid in better battery life as you mentioned.

Too bad this Creative XP doesn't come with a 940nm IR illuminator that is invisible to humans and animals, the included 850nm IR illuminator is very visible and bright.

If it doesn't have a built in mic you'll need an audio recording device and you need to sync the audio in post production in an editing software.

Useless...this does nothing for sky shots. it's based upon the limitation of the infrared range.
Just get night vision goggles and call it a day.

We’re going to Big Bend in a couple of weeks czcams.com/users/postUgkxSt0aBrzyS1nxONvwm1e0u7ZDFD_eypAO so I bought these to use during the hikes, didn’t want to miss anything. As you can see by the photos I tested the phone adapter by taking a phone of a power pole on the next block and you can see the results. It took a couple of minutes to line the phone camera up to the eye piece, there’s a bit of a learning curve, but once it was longed up it stayed in place without any issues. So far I’m impressed with the feel and the weight, the neck strap is wide and soft so it feels good on my neck. I look forward to using it with my friend and grandson in Big Bend!

Well, he *is* demonstrating a product that has a lot of detail and information that goes along with it. He needs to talk a lot. People always have many, many questions about night scopes. It's a good thing that he *does* talk a lot. Because he has to cover as much ground as he can and go over as much information as possible. As a result, this man is going to end up doing A LOT of talking.😃👍

Yes... being 19 minutes of detail is a lot of talking. I try not to cover the same details more than once unless it needs clarification or more detail... but my videos are generally very detailed and on the longer side. I review for people who are actually interested in a potential purchase... not just a bunch of pretty pictures.
