This is gonna make my solid-state Crate with an eight-inch speaker sound AWESOME!
Shoot, it might even make you play like Pete!
Don’t hate the Crate!
lol! It just might
😂😂😂😂
Same, buddy. Same.
Nothing better than a Pete Thorn demo! Thanks, Pete :D
Great demo! I love the way you create guitar parts to show off the best tones of the pedals you demo. Thanks again Pete!
Pete killin' it again!! So many different styles, so many great sounds!!! As always, this sounds fantastic.
The intro was so good I had to listen to it twice. Great riff
Really appreciate your thoughtful practical gear demos! Watched a couple of others abt this but they got confusing . . . now I have a clear idea - really versatile pedal, thanks!
Killer Pedal! Awesome licks! You made that Pedal Sing! I want that pedal now.
Seems like a ton of great options in a highly obtainable package! Great demo (per usual)!!!
I swear I’ve made a comment on a Wampler video at least a year ago saying he needed to make a Tumnus into Euphoria 2 in 1 pedal and even suggested he call it unobtanium tone…somebody was listening.
KILLER TONES! As always, Pete showing that the musician has a lot to do with making things sound great! 🤘🏼
12:34 And this is why I love Pete’s revues. Efficient, clear explanations, and one metric f*ck-tonne of fun to watch. Stellar content, good sir! 👍🥳🤣
Thank u!
Holy crunch that thing sounds good. Exactly the kind of tones I love.
I’m literally in the middle of a traffic jam screaming right now of pure joy. This pedal is sooooooo versatile and exactly what I was looking to compliment my never ending overdrive hoarding.
Pete your videos are the best! We appreciate them!
Great demo Pete! That is a cool concept in a pedal.
What a lovely intro jam.
Well played and thanks.
Great demo of a cool pedal and phenomenal playing as always.
I have to say the tones in this were really f’n good. You’re an endless creative source Pete.
Thanks!
Bravo CTC!!!! The Loop, the switchability of sss/OD Special, the ability to use each circuit seperately, the trim pots..allowing 6dbs..YOU REALLY THOUGHT of it All!!!!!
He didn't think of any of it- he's just reviewing it; he didn't make it.
Sweet pedal and sweet track, Pete!
Thanks Pete, I ordered one of these bad boys a couple of days ago, can't wait to take her for a spin 😎
Man kick ass playing as always. Also the pedal sounds great!!
Pete is one of the best pedal salesman on CZcams. He and Josh Scott are close competitors.
Every time I see this man open a video is a treat/blessing. A real lift.
🙏
Great review and great playing!
Great demo as always!
So surprising Pete - because you are always extremely fantastic !!!
I LOVE that you can use these independently in a switcher…that’s one of the best, practical aspects of my king of tone. I might have to get me one of these…
They nailed it with this pedal - we have the obtainable now a Dumble and a Klon wow
man, you just covered the most amazing od tones, massive. love the tones from this pedal. note definition is amazing and it sounds like a high quality valve pre-amp to me
can i say without offence, but the clean of your amp is, to me, lacking lots of mids and very scooped. the pedal makes it sound great. but, if i have a mid sounding amp, will the mids added sound too boxy. ie, i run a mesa single rec with clean channel on pushed at edge of break up, which adds mids but i miss the high end of sweet treble that this amp seems to add.
@@MRxr400 I think Pete was using the buffered option during bypass, which I saw on another video made exactly the sonic difference you cite. Flicking the switch to true bypass restored the mids, dampened the high treble. I also play a mid-heavy Mesa, and use a Coppersound Foxcatcher to give me some glassiness. I think this pedal (or CTC’s other of the series, the Crossfire) might do much the same thing.
Standard Fender clean really, I run my clean channel with bass on 4 mid 5 and treble 6, and it’s like a twin clean in pt100 (fender style circuit)
Sounds fantastic. I did prefer the SSS (phenomenal) and the Klon-side, as opposed to the ODS-setting. Killer Demo as always. Really showcased the many tonal-options. Happy Holidays brother from NYC.
Those are my fav sounds too.
Fantastic demo, what a great pedal. If you are putting it on your board it must be good.
Another great Christmas idea for Arlo🤘
Awesome Sounds great addition to any Pedal Board!! I already have Crazy Tube Circuits Crossfire pedal and they build some Great Stuff and always something that grabs attention!! TY PETE THORN 👍👍 👍🤠
Lol I've been rocking dumble and klon in my quad cortex they have some amazing captures in the cortex cloud! This pedal sounds incredible!
That PT100 is sick with the SSS setting. Super Hendrixy!
that sounds really good all around.
great review Pete...👍
YES, PLEASE!! ....and Pete's got da funk!!
I think it sounds especially good with the tele bridge pickup. May have to check one out
that is totally my kind of tone!!!
I've been using a Klon-style drive into a D-style (dumbloid clone) for a long time. It's such a great way to take a strat and make it sound big when you have to use a single channel amp (backline-style) and you want bright cleans and a midrangier drive tone. Sings through Fender circuits.
Exactly
Top notch demo Pete, gonna help a lot of people, wonder why they don't thumbs up as a thanks. 👍👍👍🥃Respect to you mate.
Pete, stop demoing these pedals so close to Christmas! Lol!! Great Job as usual bud!
DAMN! More GAS! Thanks for some more awesome playing and great gear demo. But man… you’re costing me a lot of money 🤣
Hi Pete. Your guitar sounds awesome! What's the eqpt line-up (mic/pre/amp pedal/spkr/etc.) How loud is it amplified through the PT-100 watt head?
Dude, that’s like Mike Landau tones in a box! 🤘😎🤘
that intro was freakin amazing!
Thanks!
I'm sold.
Dear lord' that sounds amazing!🎸🎼😶Thank you. edit' That Pedal is So Tone Resonant' that even Your Tele' almost sounded Acoustic through that!?🤯
That guitar has that quality but the pedal sure helped bring it out
Shout out from Manila
Main man.
Didnt really want to click on this. Pete makes anything sound awesome. You buy this and think you can sound like Pete, but you just don't. No matter which gear you buy. Tough.
Merci 👍🏻
I'm thinking of buying the pedal but I have already have the JRAD Archer and Vertex Steel string on my pedalboard, its same type anyway.
Wow! Pete trumps ever other reviewer about this. I’d vote for a basic course on home recording for songwriters from Mr. Thorn.
I'm curious as to the tone and feel compared to the Ethos clean and the gladio. I know those are full on preamps vs a pedal in a box that this is. I'm thinking of getting another Clean II, but have an offer to buy the original clean that doesn't hands the hard clipping. I've had a few Ethos and loved them, but this has need thinking of using this with one if the single Gladio.
The only issue with the Ethos is no SSS. I know they have a switch that let's you switch to SSS, but it's not really the SSS, it's just the cleaner, more Fendery 70s lower gain version of the ODS.
I honestly don't know why there aren't more SSS preamp pedals, with the exception of a few $700 tube based preamps. I've tried a few others that claim to be SSS, but they're nothing like them.
I owned a 50W SSS clone that was awesome. It was punishing loud which made it all but unusable. Anyone with faithful Dumble clones, or have been lucky enough to actually play a real one (as I had, twice, but 15 years between the two) can attest: they're VERY volume dependant to get them to do what they do best, abd volume need to be LOUD.
Latest gadget making its promo rounds on YT.. but it does sound like a winner 👍🏽
I had the honor of giving this video its 800th thumbs-up! Great intro track, pedal sounds amazing, anyone know the price? (I guess if you have to ask, you can’t afford it!)
wow this pedal is great, the klon side sounded more like a gold klon that the rockett imo...as soon peter went to single notes the archer got thin
Dude can I buy the song at the start?? It's class!
That thing was *MADE* for the Tele!! Holy !@#$!!!!
Is the dumble side supposed to be a preamp? Or are they both used as pedals in front of an amp? Since it has an effects loop it seems you plug the output of the dumble side into the return of an amp.
Pedal into a good clean amp. On the Dumbelish-side
If it's reviewed by Pete, it must be good.
A tiny more vowel throatiness w the Jeff Beck Archer. Great Demo!
Is it a bit like the Gladio?
Was a little funny listening to this. Lately I've been using an archer with a .45 caliber essentially doing this type of thing to my cleans. So I'm listening and thinking, yeah, but I like my way better bc I use an es8. ....wait, what did he just say? Lol!!!
Are there tubes in Crazy Tube Circuit pedals?
A couple of em, actually yes
You got a great George Harrison sound out of that first Tele solo!
Cette pédale est vraiment excellente et progressive, très dynamique, la Grèce n'est pas si loin de chez moi après tout, Thomann vend ces pédales je crois
What happened to the Rockaway Archer? And another question, what are the jeff beck Mods? Because those pedals are 150 bucks more expensive than a regular one!
There’s some different parts in the Jeff Beck version. Roxkaway was cool too, I just found it had a bit more noise because of the graphic equalizer!
@@PeteThorn in terms of sound though, how different the the jeff Back modded Archer< Does it have more gain?
"Tele Tone" 👌
The newer version- the Unobtanium Raw- is even better. They switched the Dumble side over to the "rock" channel instead of the Jazz channel of the original amp- and they added clipping options to the Klon side. Now you can go with the original germanium diodes or, germanium transistors- I have no idea what either is but, they sound great, both of them. The transistors seem to have a bit more dirt than the diodes and a fuller, rounder sound. The rest is the same- you can insert other pedals, use them independently, run them into one another, etc. But I think something like this, run into the IAFX Lion 68- would give me about all the tonal options I could ever need. Well- actually, I would prefer if UAFX made a JCM 800 pedal- but the 68 Plexi/Lion isn't bad- at all. If UAFX didn't have the whole phone thingy going on- I'd run a whole UAFX board. But I can't imagine trying to deal with all those Bluetooth connections when it's time to change presets. Just dealing with the Lion is a headache, if I had 2-3 more pedals like that on my board- I'd pull my hair out.
I'm only 4 minutes in and I had to put you on pause to buy it.
Same
I actually had a similar instant reaction when I first plugged it in and tried the left side. I thought oh I have to use this.
Great video.. Unobtanium , name sounds like Marvel comics’s object 😃
It’s from “Avatar”
Hey Pete!
Funny how uTube has effectively removed getting a stage sound, because guitar is more about recording now, than live performance post Covid….at least on uTube. And what are we mostly listening on? Tiny phone speakers, 🙄. I’m not sure WTF I’m hearing, but occasionally I’ll plug into my big home stereo system, and that’s how I know Pete and Tim Pierce, understand how to record guitar…..experience, technical understanding, set up. Others just don’t. On any 1 product I look at as many reviews as I can, but theirs have become the final nail….I’ll buy it!🙂 pretty consistently. But they are both into the knob exploration, I’m the set and forget type, I’d rather play than fiddle.
But the ultimate fiddler is Emily….a harp player, in NY her show is second only to Tim & Pete and they show the settings up close, more about ambient than guitar but very in depth stuff. Her review of the beetronics new zombee pedal was exhaustive in a way no body else was. They even explain the science, used in the effects they review very cerebral show, if you are a tech geek, you’ll love it.😀
the john mayer pedal
The Dumble side was a bit underwhelming... The Klon sounded true to form!
Smash the like
Why does Pete from a pedal, pull a farm out of the hat?
LOL Bill Finnegan you have an axe to grind with someone else other then JSH
Still can’t afford it. Some might say unobtainable.
How many TS/Klone pedals do we really need?
Pete’s demo is amazing, as usual, but is there anything new about this pedal?
CTC is top-notch stuff, but this pedal just sounds like a couple of Tube Screamers in a single box. Yawn.
Not really, though, the dumble thing makes it unique. Both sides do not sound the same.
i like it but for me it seems unattainable, i mean its in the name.
ODS sounds awful
W O W - This pedal demo - sounds you used - were horribly way weaker sounding than
so many other overdrive pedals ! Really ? This is all this one can do ? Sounds pretty useless !
