    I would just like to say my husband and I were very pleased you made this video. He is facing MV repair surgery, and we are scared, he is young and we have small children, so there is a lot of fear, but we know it needs to be done. We have written down your questions so we can pass those questions along with our personal questions. We wish you were closer. Thank you for your help. Take care and God bless.

    Very informative. ... I'm 88 and had a multiple bypass six years ago after a massive heart attack. My heart is enlarged, has scar tissue, and I now need a calcified valve replacement. I took myself off hospice and intend to fight it. Will see a highly experienced cardiologist in 12 days for consultation about valve replacement at a well experienced center (Shannon) in San Angelo, Texas. Thanks for the heads-up. ... Positive and inspirational.

    Thank you. My surgeon is recommending a normal sternotomy for 95% mitral valve repair because it is less time in surgery on heart lung machine which he prefers. Scared. Don't want pump.head or ICU delirium. But I find the wiring sternum back medieval. Why do they all use sternalock? Insurance doesn't want added $2200 added.

    Thank you for the very informative video. I am facing this in the coming weeks. I had 3 bypasses with a mitral valve repair in Oct 2018. I had a pre op EJ of 25% and a recent echocardiogram, the EJ has not improved. I see a specialist in valve repair in a few weeks. I am in the Dallas area. Have you any opinions on the MitraClip procedure?

    Hello Doctor, 10 years ago I had an aortic valve replacement due to mycomatic degeneration. I have an artificial valve and take oral anticoagulant. I am doing very fine. But my annual check up Echo showed that now my Mitral Valve is leaking, also due to mycomatic degeneration. It is insufficient Stage 2, I have no Symptoms, and my Heart is not enlarged. it I will need a second heart surgery sooner or later.. I am very anxious about this second surgery.. have you already had a similar case.. second heart surgery after a couple of years...

    • @sizzlingsalamander6766
      @sizzlingsalamander6766 Před 9 lety +3

      I have the same questions like you do but my cardiologist said that he cannot perform an operation or repair a mild mitral valve prolapse unless it is severely regurgitating or your heart muscle has enlarged.. Which means if you are suffering from symptoms basically all you need is medication. A regular check up is also needed for monitoring.. Sadly, in our case lifting up weights is really not a good idea.. Hope you'll recover from that soon.
