If I have to pay for an additional way to watch it beyond my cable sports bundle that NBC was part of I'm out as a viewer. I admit I am a casual viewer invested just enough to find out when the races were on and watching probably 80% of them (combined supercross and MX). I can imagine there are more people like me than not and without us as viewers the advertisers aren't coming along either so there go the revenue sources needed to advance the sport. This is defiantly a step back for the sport and for the racers IMO.
I would imagine that it is very hard for the racers beyond the top five or so to make enough money to consider this an actual career. That will only change as the revenue increases as an entertainment sport with the riders being the entertainers. This is not the path to get there IMO.

So Supercross has a opportunity to interest regular sports fans. Motocross races in dirt race tracks that only racing fans know about. Supercross probably got better ratings on NBC Sports than Motocross. This was a business decision by NBC Sports to move on from Motocross. Supercross could continue on NBC Sports in the future or it could move back to Fox Sports or ESPN. It would be interesting to have Supercross on ESPN+ in a future year. Whoever takes it on needs to address the way it is pay per view only, live HD PPV, 100% agree but to engage with new customers and those not in the same time zone, they should have a free/low price upload of the recorded race. There would be MX companies open to sponsoring the cheaper online, non-live access because it would open the races up to many more people who actually wont really mind sponsorship placements and adverts for things they want to see. More people watching the series (paid for and free) means the series can boast bigger numbers to the companies who are advertising, it is a win:win situation.

Fortunately already have Hulu w/live TV but I suspect a whole lot of people will just watch the moto's on youtube going forward. The sport and industry do a great job of alienating people. Bikes are too expensive, promoters don't pay to ensure it's easy for people to watch on TV, it's too expensive to go to the races and notice there's exponentially less people going to the races. I got into the sport just before Ricky Carmichael moved up to the 250 class and venues, indoor and outdoor, were packed to the brim. Ticket prices were cheap enough we could also afford to all get pit passes and buy memorabilia. Bikes weren't too expensive to get into the sport. Remember how fast the sport grew and there were million dollar salaries?

Peacock sucks, too many ads and can't even watch replay without getting those same ads and can't rewind live video. NBC GOLD was peak coverage, peacock took everything great from it and monetized it and removed features.
