@Cpa Aaa same here, I am waiting on my Y as well and I check my account once a week to see if my delivery date has changed lol. Congrats.
Very straight to the point. Perfect.

Excellent points!!
I was totally unprepared to receive my new Tesla Model 3.
great video man. i'm so pumped to get my Model Y next month.
Thanks! And congrats, you'll love the Model Y!
Buy Good whiskey... drink... and forget how much you spend.😱
Good rule of thumb is that your total car value shouldn't be more than half your yearly income max. Follow that rule and you'll never have to do that with a tesla lol
@@Spladoinkal s....o no more whiskey....😅
Or how little vs. My AMG! I spent 41K vs. 62K!
@@Spladoinkal How can I buy a Tesla if I can't spend more than half my yearly salary?
@@tedmoss learn how to make salary that's higher, or choose a cheaper car. Simple. If you don't. Make 100k don't buy a 50k car.

Well done video, a lot of information that’s relevant and timely.

Great video 👍🏼
Thank you!

Matt, thank you very much for the video! Your delivery checklist rocks! I will be using it at the end of the month when my model Y is delivered.
Glad it was helpful! And congrats on your Model Y!
Thanks, getting my model S this week
Nice!
Buy your accessories early enough to check for defects and reorder, but not so early as to miss out on the return period if you don't end up using something, or it's the wrong part, color, quality, etc.
I agree
Great list of must-do things, thanks Matt. I missed the referral program by just a few days when I placed my order for a Model Y September 22. I recently saw a video in which the referral code was honored even after the apparent cut-off. I'd much appreciate an updated video on this and other must-do items. Cheers.
Thanks! I'm glad that you found this video useful. I'll try to make an updated video 👍
There are buttons besides the ones you said were all the buttons. Two are on the steering wheel; the left one to turn the sound system on and off, the other to activate voice commands. The one to get a quick swipe of the wipers, with or without the spray, is on the end of the turn stalk.
1st thing first : White seat cover & white middle council cover , Cf tesla has done it , it was beautiful.
I just watched Cf Tesla install his center console.. Beautiful

On your next video can you discuss the financing options.
I’m fixing to buy one so thanks for the hints.. the only thing I would like to have known further is where to get the money without my wife finding out…yeow…….
nice
Yes Tesla offered me 7000 less than Carvana for my 2018 model 3 with 35000 miles on it
Don't buy ssds rated at 1000Mbps. The USB port in the glove box only supports USB 3.0 5gbit speed which tops out at 500Mbps. That will be way more then enough for multiple video streams. You're just wasting money by buying the higher speed drive

Can you install the over the air updates on public Wi-Fi or does it have to be a password protected Network?
Great video, one question though.
In what way didn't the thumbdrive hold up for sentry mode and dashcam? Wouldn't it get the video just as an SSD? I understand the benefits you listed with SSD, but i don't see why you would need anything more than the thumbdrive...
I got my Tesla Y 2022. I just wanna know how to get the rebate? Thanks
Do you have extra dark tones on the windows of your Model Y or is it original? Specially the back seat side windows, back window and sunroof window looks almost completely black, or is it the sun/lighting that makes it look so dark? Looks really good 🤩
20% on all 4 sides and rear windshield (matches factory)
70% on the front windshield
It was the sun hitting it at the right angle that made it look extra dark. Usually it's see through lol
NEMA 14-50 is unnecessary...6-50 will work just as well for Tesla charging. The only reason to ever go for 14-50 over 6-50 is if you are operating a device that needs the neutral, so it can use split phase power on the inside (like an RV). The Tesla mobile connector doesn't need the neutral, so use a 6-50 instead.
You mentioned charging the battery to 80%. On the site, it says 90%. Is that preference to 80%.
Matt, Thanks for this video. I am curious to know how we can delay the delivery of the car that we have custom ordered
Contact your service advisor
@@MattDanadel I ordered my car online. So how do I know who is my service advisor. Or do I get assigned a service advisor closer to delivery date?
Think I'll bookmark this for when my CyberTruck comes. If CZcams is still a thing by then lol.
"End of the year for sure!" lol Elon timeline can be rollercoaster ride
Hello , I placed order for Tesla 3 on October 24, (IN CANADA) but completed application form including payment on December 20, any expected delivery date according to you or Any previous customer, thank you 😊
My man be swimming in that referral cheddar
They discontinued the referral program in September '21 unfortunately lol
I know a company who sells good quality accessories for tesla 🤩😁 it also in a great price 👌
In the manual it says not to use screen protectors
Hi there, thank you for this video. I don't see the hood and front bumper protection film on tesla's website? did you order it from a different place?
I bought it from Amazon: amzn.to/3HW4lyE
Honest advice: I just turned 24, I’m in the military, and I’m deploying in a couple months so I’ll have a good chunk of change to blow 😂 I want to DESPERATELY upgrade from my 2013 Toyota Corolla to a Tesla when I get back, but I have a couple people telling me that it’s a “bad idea” while others are saying the opposite. It’s almost nothing but good reviews from people online and on CZcams. To any wise people who can semi-sorta relate or have been in my position, what would you do if you were me??
This is what I would do, not financial advice: If you’re in a good financial position, buy an investment property and rent it out and have the cash flow pay for the monthly payment of a Tesla
What is “Century Mode”?
If you have a lithium iron battery pack, charging to 100 percent in your model 3 standard range is perfectly fine. Elon musk confirmed it on his Twitter.
What do you think he’s gonna tell you?
Tesla recommendations are 90/10 now, not 80/20
So new teslas come with a J1772 adapter? Looked like it but you never mentioned what was in that zippered case
All Teslas come have been coming with the J1772 adapter
👍
sorry but the trade in secret was wrong. My mom got a tesla she as trading in her 2011 camry and they allowed it without a clean title (we just had to show the lien release from Toyota)
How do you find your purchase agreement on the dame app!! 😬😬😬
I know that I can't afford a tesla right now but still watching this video.😅😅😅
Please KEEP YOUR HANDS ON THE WHEEL. Thank you.
don't think you mentioned it but if you have an EV - SOLAR PANELS make it a no brainer. there soon will be some incentives for both so keep watching. (Sorry for those of you who don't have either. a hybrid might be the answer)
There is no more referral program from them; it ended on the 19th of this month, unfortunately.
Yeah, it's now only for solar
When your dad is an electrician 😜
Referral codes are no longer available, if I’m not mistaken I think they finished on September 21 2021 just make sure that you have that on mind and ask before you buy the car
Correct. But this video was posted on Sept. 9 and the referral program ended Sept. 18
@@MattDanadel well you have a point but many people like me just watched the vid so just in case anyone came in late well now they know lol
Ohh gotcha. I'll edit the ending out soon
Can you get a Tesla without a Glass roof? Do you think there would be any problem in adding extra items, like a mobile communication radio, like a CB or Ham radio?
No option to remove the glass roof. All come with it. Tesla sells a roof rack that you can install. Not sure how mobile communication radios will be mounted
The early model s doesn’t have a glass roof.
The wall connector is a waste of money unless you drive hundreds of miles around your home location, just saying 🤷🏽♂️
Lol it’s more of a convenience to not rely on stopping somewhere
What kind of floor/trunk mats are those!?
It's the Homeland Hardware Tesla Model Y floor mats: amzn.to/3tQWETJ
It's currently out of stock though
Matt if you aren't in a rush to get your Y would this be a good time to sit on your hands and let the new batteries and other upgrades coming with the opening of the new giga factories?
The problem is that we don't know when the new 4680 batteries will roll out. Some are speculating that Tesla will just have less battery cells in the vehicles but still have the same range that we have. I thought about holding off on my Model Y for the new 4680's but it's a good thing I didn't. In my opinion, just buy the Tesla now and enjoy it
@@MattDanadel exactly just buy it prices going up and they don’t deprecate
If you decide to wait for what seems right around the corner you will wait forever.
I wanted to wait for the 4680s for my Model X initially. I've had the car for almost a year and a half now. The 4680s still aren't even an option to preorder in the X and the option to get them in the S was pulled down from the configurator. I suspect they won't be widely available for another 9 months to a year.
So I would have missed out on ownership for 2+ years for the sake of getting batteries that will make the car noticeably better maybe 4-6 days out of the year when I'm on long roadtrips. I'd advise taking the plunge.
@@jonathansage2147 I put my deposit down in august and my delivery date continues to be pushed back.range now is March through May. Totally get your point. The upgrade really isn't that great..I'll get what comes and am totally stoked!
@@stratdoc congrats! Hopefully you get your car soon - I had my own delivery woes; I get it. It sucks.
8. Be careful with this recommendation in the future. With the new LFP batteries from china, the batteries actually like to be charged to 100% and recharged once 20% or below which is the complete opposite of NMC batteries.
Thank you for pointing that out 👍
Can you open the sunroof?
Thanks.
No, it's a glass roof
Over time… what is most likely to be changed that is extremely pricey to change/or have a workshop fix?
I am a bit scared of when something breakers outside warranty years… besides the battery, what is most likely to break in a m3 you think?
We want to buy one for the family.
The cost to fix Tesla's have been declining over the years as Tesla gets bigger and is able to be fully established. I think Elon said the batteries are "million mile batteries." Electric cars in general are just very low maintenance. It's hard to say what all could go wrong in an EV other than the battery. But the costs, generally speaking, are significantly less than a traditional gas-powered vehicle
@@MattDanadel High and thanks for your answer. I believe you when you say that the maintenance cost is lower for a ev than a standard car... my consern is due to that there aren't yet as many workshops around to fix a "normal problem" and also, the spare parts is probably harder to find than if you compare with a vw for example. I think I am overthinking this... I just google a forum in Sweden about if one would buy a used car for example as a Tesla model S from 2014 - 2015... the corst of a few items they talked about was too high... like 2500Euro. Unfortunately I don't remember what that part was right now... but I also read that some of the doorhandles breaks,,, the connected cables inside I think was the issue. That was not as high price.
To sum up. I will probably buy a m3. But my question is if I should buy a new or a 2019 that is lower in price. I have a long range for example 2019 for 44000Euro (original in Sweden is 61900). It has 80000km range .
Or I will buy a new sr+ instead for 55000 (minus 7000euro climate bonus - 48000 in total for a new).
It is either this or I will buy a "temporary car " like the kia e-niro for a year or 2 at a lower price just to see what happens next year. In sweden our diesel has gone as high as 18.30sek /Liter . This is crazy high (have a volvo v70 d2 right now).
Thoughts?
@@AzizIzgin I live in Norge and have had 2 Teslas Model S and we're waiting for a Model 3 this month. The maintenance has been so much cheaper than our previous diesel vehicles. The brakes on the first Model S are like new and have only needed routine maintenance (lubrication and cleaning), had to change one heater part for 8000kr and one parking brake motor for a few thousand kr. Otherwise it was just tires and regular maintenance.
6+ years, 80k km and the entire cost of maintenance is less than the timing belt replacement on one of our other cars.
@@racingjason thanks a lot neighbor” ☺️ I live in Sweden.
I was actually thinking of buying it in Norway instead. Your price is 319k + 25% moms + 10% makes around 438k sek/nok (the currency is now very similar).
I don’t know if I just can call Tesla in Norway? :)
@@AzizIzgin I don't know how that would work out. I assume Sweden would want to tax you on something eventually. 🤣 Our Model 3 was 571k nok when I bought it in August.
Hey Matt, I’m new here, nice video. I have a question. Do you think a new driver should get his first car to be a Tesla? I want to buy a Tesla cause it’s my dream car and don’t want to get a used car due to in couple years we are going to transition to evs. What are your thoughts?
Well do not buy a used Tesla. They dont allow independent shops to replace the batteries and tesla will only warranty a used one for 1 year. I mean if you have another 26k for a nee battery pack then just buy a new one. Best idea is to lease them and trade them in. Dont have to worry about battery degradation or anything being out of warranty.
Did you purchase your Tesla Y or lease it? Reason being, I'm leasing my Model S which is due in a few weeks, and I can't see spending $2K for a full frontal PPF rap if I'm returning after the lease. Thanks!
Financed it. Try not to lease a Tesla because they tend to hold their values (especially now with the supply chain disruptions) [not financial advice]
the ppf links don't work. please update them. also let me know if you installed it and how easy it is
Here is an updated one: amzn.to/3HW4lyE
Help me understand the purpose of the screen protector as I don't quite understand. It can't be dropped, nothing is flying around in the cabin that will crack the screen, it can be sat on...
I think it's for if you have something in your hands and move it around it could scratch it. idk tho
I also don't see the point of screen protectors that everyone pitches so hard in this type of accessory video. They can reduce finger prints and glare, but that's about it. I have a 2020 Model X Performance that's completely tricked out (after market wheels, floor mats, fully ppf wrapped, ceramic coat, etc etc), I didn't bother with a screen protector.
Im keeping my tesla not trading it
Link is only for solar now?
Yes
Seeing those waiting times on getting a Model 3 is stopping me from ordering one 😂 6 months is a long time
Might wanna get a jump on it before they keep getting pushed back even more lol
So no 1000 free supercharger miles.
would love one, but I hear the insurance is rather expensive
It really depends how old you are/if you're under someone else's policy and your driving history. But generally speaking, the insurance cost isn't as high as what you're probably thinking it is
Going from a nissan altima 2011 to a 2021 model 3 it went down 50$
I went from a 2011 VW Jetta 2.5 SL and a 2013 Audi A4 2.0T to a 2018 Tesla Model X 100D and a 2020 Tesla Model X Performance and my insurance went down by $100/year.
I shopped around insurance and that made a way bigger impact on the cost of the car than shopping around financing. If we'd stayed with our original insurance provider the rate was going to be $3500/year for the Teslas. We ended up paying $760/year with a different provider.
O gawd, someone close to me got one...hopefully he can keep up with all the stuff he has to do...I don't care
We can't even order one a model Y in the UK yet ~ very frustrating!
Should I trade my 2019 Audi Q7 Primium Plus to Tesla Model Y? Please help I want you guys opinions. Thanks...
No way, enjoy that Audi, then when you retire it. Get the latest Tesla at that time.
Not if you gon take a loss

I ordered my Y in June. Have a delivery date Oct 21 to Nov 10. Just had a 14-50 outlet installed in my garage. I have my floor mats and installed a hanger for the charging cable. 03:15 Is there no inbuilt internet?
All Tesla's do have LTE, but in order to download a software update, you would need to be connected to Wi-Fi
Yes

Where is link for 1,000 free super charging miles? I only see link for solar roof referral
Tesla unfortunately did away with the 1,000 miles of free supercharging this past September & this video was posted before that. Tesla only has the referral link for solar products rn
#2 is wrong. I negotiated on my trade with Tesla and got a higher amount.
No more referral codes... Ugh...
Your referral link is for solar. Do you have one for a Tesla?
Hey so Tesla unfortunately did away with the 1,000 miles of free supercharging on September 18th. This video was posted before that
